I needed to escape the weed on the 90 mile.. So a road trip was in order... Merimbula NSW. With a Quick stop at Cann River Bakery for some treats. Awesome pie!
Mate, that was a beautiful salmon. Unusual to see a school in so close . Great road trip video. P.S. Wow that vanilla slice looked awesome ( used to call them snot blocks when I was younger ) ,hope it tasted as good as it looked. Tight lines, Frank
When I lived in Gippsland, used to go on fishing/golf trips with a bunch of work mte. to Merimbula its a beautiful place Congrats good to see ya having a great time and sucess lol
@ChristineBarker-jt3ke thanks Chris, the feeling is very mutual. I will definitely take you up on fishing Tamboon. Only ever been there once, and certainly had plans on returning.. it's a beautiful place. Thanks again, to you both 🙂
@@SteveOutside I know what you mean; camping might be a better idea. Question: Where did you buy the FST 8000? I can’t find it online, not even on the Jarvis Walker website.
@Johan-ex5yj yeah I looked too, it's a bit early I guess. I spoke to JW's GM a few days ago and he said only in independent stores at the moment. (Whatever that means)
Hey Steve, I couldn't help but notice that while baiting up with the pilchard, you bury the barb of the hook, the trick is to have the barb protruding from the bait. It'll increase your hookup rate exponentially. The fillet that you put on the surf popper had an exposed barb. Hopefully, this might help a little. Best regards.
When I first started fishing that area (and I still do) I take our Victorian Blue Bait with me…being salted and a little smaller than the pilchard it “matches the hatch” perfectly. Many of the locals ask me what the bait is and where they could get some. Don’t get me wrong, I have used Pillie many times but I prefer the Blue Bait. I was fishing North Tura on one occasion when I was hooking many fish on bait and a friend of mine was casting lures. Not one take on the lure but nearly every cast on bait resulted in an enquiry or landed fish. Salmon and fish in general can be quite fickle. Was that Larry doing a cameo as you did on his recent video? I truly love Tura Beach and I like you find the Sapphire Coast spectacular and so welcoming. Thanks for sharing Steve.
@Mark-ew5jm I still can't believe a big school of Salmon like that and not one hit on lure.. bloody amazing. I'll keep the bluebait in mind next time. Yeah that was Larry... if only I knew then... lol Cheers Mark 👍
Cann River bakery is a must when we go in your direction, yummmm. Thanks for the cameo and once again, my apologies for not recognising you while I was there. Love that you had a camera to pick up the whales, that is my biggest issue with GoPro's. It was a slow morning, glad you got onto one and next time your down here, we'll definitely have a fish together. Great job showing off this part of Australia, it is amazing!
@LarrysFishing yeah I use gopros too, but this footage was on my phone. Yeah I lived in Ulladulla back in the 90s.. I love the sth coast. I hope to be up there again sooner rather than later.. I'll let you know. Cheers Larry 👍

I bet you were sorry you did not book the motel for the whole week?!

How good are fishing road trips, Steve? The freedom of the open road, the thrill of hitting a new beach and the anticipation of a good fish!
@franksaunders6534 definitely one of my favourite things..
Bit longer next time though.
Thanks Frank 👍
