- Moms favorite seaside town so far! Tathra has a little bit of everything... rich history, an adorable hotel and town, beach, tide pools, and walking trails to connect it all. Just park your car and walk everywhere! One of these days we will have great beach weather (thanks, La Nina!).

We used to holiday in Tathra when I was a kid.....wonderful place.
Tathra and the Bega Valley is where I live....
We too used to go to Tathra all the time when we were in Canberra for a few years, great spot for oysters and fishing around the boat ramp . The meals at the bowling club are top darts , if your into camping a place called Mystery Bay is not far from there and became my favourite place. You will need to be self sufficient but cheap tents and sleeping bags from big W is all you need. Please enjoy your stay in Australia, I hope it’s not too hard on the kids to adjust and you all don’t get to home sick 👁👁😊😊🐕🦺🙏🦘🐨🇦🇺
We literally went through Tathra 3 weeks ago after staying in Bermagui. It was really nice there too. We had a unit also, but it was literally on the lake. So nice :-) Glad you enjoyed Tathra. It's really pretty country through there.
If you get a longer break try travelling North to th Central Coast or Port Stephens. It’s extremely pretty on the coast.
Looks like a lovely place to stay. Shame about the weather…again!
If you're keen to do some beachside camping Jervis Bay is similar travel time from Canberra or you can drop an hour travel time and visit Batemans Bay which has a few more of the trappings of civilisation. Hope you're all settled, kids might have to adjust to a shorter summer break, a mere 6ish weeks of driving each other mad at home.
