I worked at a steel mill in USA in the late 70's. We had an electric furnace that we melted steel, poured, & stripped down. A machine would cut the ingots in blocks like the beginning of this video. I've always missed that job. Got laid off/ unemployed due to Recession. I miss factory work.

Perfect video. I have been a railroad driver for over 25 years and for the first time I see how wagon wheels are made. But even the masters who make wooden barrels are really cool guys.

Along with the electric motors that push the train.

Hahaha...yeah after being in the steel donut manufacturing industry for 30 plus yrs. Its like the old timers told me when I first started. This ain't no candy factory kid!! But the process has changed so much over the years that you for the most part just push buttons.

I was wondering how instructions are passed to machines? Was it through control room from computers? Just for curiosity I wanted to know. BTW amazing video!

Yes everything is computer controlled from control rooms. Years ago this whole process was done manually with steam powered presses and manually operated handling equipment. It was very hot dirty work that required highly skilled operators to produce a quality forging.
