I've heard people say the police sometimes review these clips - but I've never seen anything to indicate they do anything.

Why would they do that? More of these drivers means they can use them as statistics to incentivise more money making schemes, and as another “example” of why the police are so important

Someone sends in some dashcam footage, the police review it.
If it meets certain criteria, a "notice of intended prosecution" is sent out
You can submit your footage and information online and police can and do fine people or charge them based on it. Had a guy nearly hit me cause he was on his phone and I submitted the footage. Police fined him for using a mobile while driving.

The disregard for other lives is beyond comprehension. How can people be so stupid, so selfish? The penalties for such blatant endangerment of others needs to years in gaol. A simple fine and perhaps a short licence disqualification isn't going to stop these morons. And, yep, I know its next to impossible to identify and prosecute the drivers... but its so frustrating watching these videos and knowing these low-lifes continue to be out on the road.
Hard to identify and prosecute the drivers, but very easy to cancel the rego and confiscate the plates. Probably won't stop them, but at least the cops can make it a little harder for them
I’m starting to believe that retributive justice will be needed soon.
No hard we just need to get people in the habit of stating the rego out loud and allowing plod to use this as evidence. The number of people who think it's OK to pass on double line or blind corners, I want the law to be updated to be see it as a deliberate and malicious act if they hit another vehicle and mandatory jail if some one is injured or killed.

As someone who does delivery work the art of the U turn is so easy to master so legal and so safe. Missed your turn? take the next one, go down a side street, legally turn around, drive back. You lose maybe a minute, 5 minutes if it's a highway or something. No need to U turn on a busy intersection illegally. Ignore the GPS saying turn now, it'll even help you out to make the U turn.

People missing their exit and trying to cross over multiple lanes last second on a freeway is classic Melbourne driving. I see atleast 2 - 3 people do it per day and almost cause major accidents.

Dash cammers need to submit their videos to the Crime Stoppers website as well. Evidence for Police to prosecute, fine, suspend, cancel etc. If becomes publicized that Police will penalize drivers from dash cam videos, it would greatly reduce the ridiculous behaviours.
There is defiantly some in here that need to be looked at.

@@MeppyMan - I thought the same initially, but the camera returned to the forward facing position without any other braking/accelerating force. I also reckon I can hear her hit the camera on audio.
@@ck867 maybe, but I used to have a cheap camera that would do this and it would move back after you stop braking. The braking pushed it back but it didn’t need any acceleration force to move back.
But it’s a moot point as we don’t really know. Either of us could be right.
