Sorry video is a little later this morning, we still have no water so it's keeping me out for longer as you can well imagine. Our Hoof man's name is Luke Reilly so if you ask about I'm sure pretty people will know him. Also a heads up that we are running a pretty awesome prize giving away in January to raise money for charity so keep an eye out for that soon. Thanks Adrian..
Hey Adrian. I was trying to look at the temp gauge on your 5460. I have a 5480 myself and the temp rarely rises out of blue. They seem to run very cold apart from agitating or mowing or the like. The heater wasn't much use in the cab the last week. I'm just a bit concerned that my thermostat could be stuck open...
@@farmer4230a in this weather they do run cold for a good while, mine doesn’t rise above the blue unless I’m topping or something like that. I wouldn’t be to concerned lad, you could feel the pipe on both ends to see if it’s closed.
Those cows are beautiful ❤ that was amazing to me that cattle had their feet done , as a Townie you don’t think about that kind of thing ,bless her having her foot lovingly tended to it just shows how much more there is to farming than the eye sees 🙏🏻
Adrian, you really are a breath of fresh air. You are always positive and when things go wrong, you treat it as a small inconvenience, deal with it and then carry on enjoying life. Good on Luke. People such as Luke who come when needed are priceless. No matter how slow, please let us know her progress. Stay WARM. Thank you for sharing.🐄
A lot of frustration with the cold and milking and water supply issues. However great winter scenery and the Massey red looks outstanding against the frost. Thanks for taking the time out to record Adrian.
Thanks for another cracking video, the last 7-12 days were hard on man and beast for sure,we had rain on friday evening and saturday morning on the frost, leaving the untreated back roads like an ice rink, roads were lethal after the rain,Happy christmas to you Adrian and all the family and here s to a successful 2023, Pearse😉
I spent Christmas 2008 in Ireland with My Mother. She (We) went home to Ireland in November 2008 and she passed 7 May 2009. My last previous Christmas in Ireland had been 1966, prior to Us moving to Australia. Absolutely Magnificent to see the -1°C and below temperatures. You can have no idea how envious I am of your Ice and Frost.

Good one sir.. we seem to be at the defrost moment now and looking like it might ba a fast one... more problems will no doubt pop up or bubble up 😉🫣. Hope your water gets flowing soon. Stay safe 🏴
Its a pain in the rear when the water freezes up but it has been a real cold snap, its been colder many a time but not for a few years so we are taking it bad, at least you got the sticks done, its an ill wind that blows no got, I bet you would rather the dairy was working better, Hay Ho, enjoyed the video as us Adrian
Yea the good weather is a nightmare for water and milking machines. I put in infa red lamp in the parlour over the jars and that helped a bit. Another idea for the water is a used a IBC with a hose on my bale spike and used it for filling drinkers.
thank you Luke, am a hoof repair fan. nice plus for this video. nice bird tip too. seem to recall you have to pay for water so cleaning is an expensive bother.
Lucky you! We have already deep much snow in combination with strong winds, the snow comes down almost horizontally, temperatures have been between -2 down to -20 Celcius. Most of the time it's best to stay indoors, buckle down under a wool blanket and fill up the fireplace with firewood regularly. ;) And the poor cow, it's really painful to see sick animals or animals that are hurting. Despairing to watch. I don't know how many times I shared tears in my childhood in frustration and sorrow because I felt unable to help them.
Hi Adrian, a space heater on a simple plug in time clock and have it for parlour it's idea that may work. Thay are handy to have in work shop the ould lad would love it😎
Great video Adrian...we all have them crap days/weeks...sometimes the more you try to plan something...the worse it gets🙈 Our water only came back today in the yard.
I feel your pain RE: frozen parlour, we used to have to deal with the same issue when we were farming, trying to get all the seals to seal so you can build up the vacuum, going round with hot water in a bucket with a jug...a nightmare at 5am.
at 4:09 when you were taking the plugs of the roller top tip before you put them back in run a bit of greese around them so that the next time you need to take them out its a lot easier top tip for everyone else
The cold in Ireland is very different to the cold in other countries though, due mostly to the dampness in the air. I've been in Canada, and Sweden, when it was -20 to -25 and i can tell you -10 in Ireland was worse.
difficult conditions the last couple of weeks for us all in farming. hope you and your family adrian have a happy christmas. and thank you for all your great videos troughtout the year. you are a great inspiration to many people. thank you.
Feel your pain spent a hour thawing the parlour 1 day this week didn’t leave any water in it to freeze again! But the wash through is painful can’t find enough places to get the water out of the lines!
You just tie wrap to pipes .Dont put where cattle can reach its 220v if last drinker is in with cattle just continue pipe to somwhere else and put tape on
Hey Adrian Lovin the new ‘Voodoo Chile’ music on the videos. ‘Who Knows’ but I’m sure Jemi Hendrix would have loved the’ Purple Haze’ frozen scenery on channel!……. ( big thank you google for the Jimi Hendrix music titles) 😀👍
Maybe a jet heater would help in the milking Parler and milkhouse. I have used jet heaters and they sure come in handy for a quick warm up. A fella showed me a way to thaw a metal pipe and hydrant coming out of the ground by attaching a battery charge to it. However once the water starts to thaw unplug the charger and take the charger leads off of the pipe. Just 2 things I learned from living in Minnesota. And always plan to winterize in July. Minnesota is the land of 2 seasons. It almost winter and it's winter.
I have one but need to seal the doors up better as to much heat escapes, I’d be afraid to leave them running unattended. That’s an interesting one with the charger! Never heard on that before, unfortunately all our pipes are plastic here in Ireland 👍
Nice one Adrian, its been awhile since i seen a frost like that, i remember getting kettles of boiling water to pour over pipes to try and get water for cows, you don't get that kind of heavy frost here in the states, or not where we are anyway!

If you were to put three or four red heat lights in your parlour and close all doors that should keep all the cold out ..... good video as always 👍
You can also use tractor bucket as a makeshift water trough too. Saves carrying water by hand
Great video. Best thing to thaw the parlour is fill it with cows Adrian then go back to bed for a couple of hours

You’re right that is not Arctic cold. In western Canada this week it’s -27 as a high today. That hoar frost makes the landscape magical.
I love the Massey with the frontloader. You can do so many jobs with that.
What a beautiful scene with all the frost. Just gorgeous.
