Probably the closest I'll get to the OG Broadway Musical. Still, this version has its merits and I appreciate that it is available to watch, unlike the Broadway Version.
I love how the last phantom Victor sees is his mother. It really plays to the show’s strengths that she’s mentioned once at the beginning, but barely at all after because it highlights how Victor’s chase to cover up for and clear himself after seeking his own glory (using his mother as justification and motivation) has caused him to lose sight of why he even started and emphasizes the pointlessness of his vanity. Of course, all of this is brought to light in The Coming of the Dawn because it’s one of the best repentance songs in musical history.
This was so amazing! Wish I could've been there. Frankenstein and The Creature had a great dynamic and sang so powerfully. Henry was also fantastic! His voice and acting was off the charts! For sure 10/10
