Yes Always warm your engine. My dad was a truck driver (diesel) and always was told us girls to run the engine to warm up the oil and give everything a chance for everything to run through the engine. If that makes since. Safe travels God bless and I really enjoy your videos. I’m almost 60 this month and I’m a new nomad as of July 18th of 2024. I love living in my new 30” Forester Class C. I’ll never go back 😊. Hopefully will see you o the road someday. Safe travels Cyncyn
My Sprinter is the same chassis as yours, I was told by the MB dealer never to heat the van as it is diesel and it doesn’t need to be warmed up like our gasoline cars. I always fill DEF and never go past 1/2. I’ve never had a problem with the DEF being full. Have the DEF filter checked. Usually it cleans up after driving on the freeway, and if it isn’t, have the filter checked. I’m only saying this because I’ve experienced the filter fail. Always ask questions to your MB dealers , they know best. It’s so sad to see all that garbage on the side of the road. Thanks for inspiring me to walk, I had a total knee replacement in February, and I haven’t walked as much as I should.
Sorry you're having problems with the DEF system. That's my biggest hesitation on buying a new(er) diesel. I had a pre-def diesel and NEVER had a moments trouble. A big thanks to the powers that be for ruining the diesel engine. Good luck on your journey!
Good question about warming up a diesel engine. I have always done so and the guys I know do the same. I would think because diesels ignite the fuel by compression instead of with a sparkplug that it should be warmed up. My thinking is a warm engine would help preheat the diesel before combustion. But, excellent question. I will be researching this.
Dust Bunny! You have 10 restarts until your van is disabled. DEF level sensor is more than likely the cause triggering a DEF code, putting you in limp mode. If you go into limp mode keep your speed up as much as possible, until you get somewhere safe. Slowing down too much will reduce power even further. The cost of owning a Sprinter! 🤑
I always find it amusing how these videos cut off or end!!!!! Well, that's it for this video!! Or, how about, I'll pick you back up on the next one? Or maybe, thanks for being here! Or thanks for joining me!!! To me, it just seems very cold to cut off the video!!! Enjoy your adventures.

I just talked to my friend and neighbor. He said during warm weather and if you are not going to put a load on the engine by putting something heavy, or going from start up to 80 mph on the freeway, there is not a need to warm it up. But he said before shutting it off you want to let it idle for five minutes to cool down the turbo charger, if you have one. He doesn't shut his engine down when refueling while on a trip. Hope this helps.
Looks like the Imperial Damn BLM in very nice by the Colorado River sister!!! I think I will try it out the first of the year after the holidays. Lol 😂
@@Witness_Testify I’ll have to look up what that is. Are you saying there’s a pump that recycles and filters my shower water to use it again so I don’t have to dump my grey tank as often?
I have been bindge watching a load of vanlifer designs. The way I see it, it is more important to be as cost-efficiently self sufficient than having a space loaded with kitties and book shelves. I saw one great design where they had large tanks custom built underneath. Also water recycling system for shower snd sink. A fantastic water filter system as well. If I were to go that direction, I wouldnt both trying to build it myself. I want someone with the right experience and skill to make everything out of strong and long lasting material. It wont be cheap, but the only memories I want anytime soon are meeting people and exporation. I would even want sound dampening form tiles, like behind the drums in church, as the first insulationlayer of the walls and ceiling. And 4x4, not AWD. 4x4 for any emergency situation, and the ability to replace tires in pairs, instead of sets with awd. Ok, I guess thats enough from me. Im also a Boston area mobile mechanic.
You have a couple of options instead of paying hundreds for a mechanic. Bypassing the DEF sensor is common. The other option is a bit expensive but worth the money. Buy a reader/writer with the option to reset. Either way you will get absolutely fed up with that garbage.
