    Tim,
I am far from any kind of expert about sustained downwind speed, but I am sure you know that the characteristics of your favorite runs play a huge part in such stats. Hard for me to know for sure just from your videos, but it has been my impression that often you get steep waves that lead to screaming downslopes (but not necessarily long sustained runs), but looking at this video, it "looks" like there are more stretched out waves that may have lent themselves to better sustained runs (which I might guess would help you with your 1km splits). This is all conjecture on my part, but good to see you getting a variety of conditions that are both enjoyable and lead to different kinds of stats that encourage your analysis.

Your observations are correct Paul, this run had very large, broad swells that were rarely very steep. This was quite surprising to me given the wind speed. While driving to the launch point I thought the Lake did not look as intimidating as I would have expected given the wind had been blowing for 24 hours, which usually leads to a "waves bigger than the wind" situation with massive, fast swells that are all but impossible for me to catch. It felt more like "those videos you see on TH-cam" sort of run. 😹
