I think you should focus on identifying landmark and cardinal direction. Certain part of the video is very vague such as getting the golden seed in academy gate town after the map and grace. I had to google up pretty frequently to understand where i should be heading
My very first playthrough of Elden Ring was as a mage. And when I've got Comet Azure with 15 sec infinite cust tear and buff spell (sorry, I have totally forgotten names of those items) it was a pure fun, and pain. But mostly fun.
Have watched dozens of guides these past few months and without a doubt this has been the most concisely condensed playthrough of the full game that I've seen so far. The commentary was clear and to the point and yet whimsy at times which kept me engaged. I love that you included a couple of mistakes, (even though I'm sure there were plenty more that didn't make the cut), and alternate routes as well as updating the 1.06 bug fixes that pertained to your guide. Cudos to you. Great job. Gained a new sub!
You showing how to use your build against the main bosses was super helpful. I’m a more visual person. So it helps to see a build in action. Carian slicer got me through most of the game. Towards the end, the night comet was my friend lol
All your guides are awesome. This is my favorite. Every time I play Elden Ring it is a fresh build, such is the confidence you have given me after watching your videos here on TH-cam. I was hopeless, and was still stuck in Limgrave and Liurnia, 400 hours in I was frustrated, and about to delete the game. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, you made me love playing Elden Ring. 800+ hours and adding a fresh run every other day. Boom!

@@DietmarEugen To be fair, its been that way for a long ol' time now, and still hasn't been patched out. Not an ironclad indication, for sure, but you'd think it would have been nixed by now if it was considered an issue.
Arrows reach intentionally works on rock sling. It's a physical projectile. The magic behind it is gravity, where it pulls rocks from the ground and slings them. As opposed to the glintstone sorcery which the projectiles themselves are magic. A bow is a catalyst for an arrow, and magic is the catalyst for rocks in rocksling. I hope that makes sense the way I tried to explain it For the most part the default distance is fine, but there are instances worth swapping arrows reach in and out
Just want to say how good your videos are. I am currently helping my wife with her play through and she is a non gamer but somehow enjoys Elden Ring. Your guides are really helping me help her.
Thingfishy, you are a Godsend man. Elden Ring is the first Souls game I have extensively played and it is because of you and Dom's Roundtable that I was able to adjust to the super steep learning curve and enjoy this incredible game. Much appreciated!
It’s just very bizarre to me because I’m a mage (also brand new to from soft, why I picked mage) and breezed through the game with very different strategies. And despite all the complaints I want to make about it being slightly nonsensical IMO and bragging about non summoning while abusing loads of exploits/glitches. But the fact that there’s so many comments from people like you praising it, saying it legit helped them speaks for itself. I will say if you’re still playing OMG you gotta try adulas moonblade, it’s like his mainstay carian slicer but better in every way. Combine it with all the mage buffs and rannis snow hat you are unstoppable up close and med range
I was actually pretty surprised when my friends told me they had trouble with Mohg, because my first playthrough during the first week of the game's release was using the rock sling with either lusat's or the meteorite staff. I've since come to see that he's a pretty mean boss when you don't have an optimal way to fight him though.

Been playing elden ring for about 400++ hours.. now im on my 5th ng+... done every npc's quest, completed every cave and catacombs in game, kill every boss exist in game, hunt every ash of war, incantation, sorceries, spirit ashes, golden seed, sacred tears, larvae tears, helm, armor set, walking mausoleum and weapon( except rng drop ) etc... grind a bit and now level 337... doing everything again and again for next ng+ until i can remember the location every single item and quest until max level.... then only create new character and enjoy every single moment😌😌😌
For a less risky ride down the cliff to Sellia, you can ride off the cliff edge to the right of the bat women next to a tree root. You will literally slide right down and the Sage’s shack is just to the left.
Intro to video: "[...] even if you're not that good at the game?" First boss fight: *proceeds to have perfect parries* Love your videos and builds, but I've gotta call you out on this. Maybe I'm in the minority of players who don't excel at parrying, but the way you just casually drop "parry these attacks" made me scoff a little. Carian Slicer and just rolling like normal got me through Margitt just fine. Parrying Margitt in the first half isn't so bad, but in the second half, it doesn't seem like all of his attacks can be, especially the long combos involving his holy weapons.

I started my channel by making parry guides for all of the bosses, so I’m only blasé about parrying as I know there are dedicated guides on my channel for it. There isn’t actually a guide for Margit. But there’s about an hours worth of footage of me parrying him in my no hit guide and shield comparison guides if you want to see what can and can’t be parried. I would like to make a suggestion in lieu of giving the potion to Gideon. If you save that and open up the capital and progress dung eaters questline until he is bound up in a chair in his cell, you can then give him the potion and get him as a puppet from Seluvis later. Once he is upgraded he is excellent to use as a summon. Since this video is about not summoning its just a little extra work and you are delaying the magic scorpion charm but if you find yourself needing a summon, dung eater puppet at max level is phenomenal.
Will you ever make an melee build? Or even a soul level 1 guide for those who are looking for pure dread. I also love your editing, very quick, but no so fast that beginners can't follow, your commentary is very concise and consistent, the very specific tips are a godsend too, pretty much one of the best guides
Oh definitely! I’m much more of a melee player than magic. Will probably do an overpowered faith build at some point too, but the majority of these will be cool melee weapon builds I wanna try. Loving the videos. For Placudisax's laser, you can run to the edge of the arena during the phase 2 transition, then when he thunderclouds prior to the laser, you should be able to get behind him and attack during the entire attack, with your build you won't stagger him and may even be able to kill him.
nice build & guide, but imo the most fun to be had out of caster builds - int, faith, or otherwise - comes from making use of the crazy variety of spells available. spamming just a couple for the whole game feels like missing out.
9:42 a couple of tips for new players! 1.) if when it gets to very low hp, you pop the fowl foot, and look at the site of grace - then run to the grace and rest as soon as you kill it, you get the runes but doesn’t die, makes a great mid game rune farm before mohgs palace! 2) use the flail (torrent site o grace) and grab the bloodflame blade incantation from the church of blood is liurnia. Use the ash of war with bloodflame and enjoy your runes! A little extra set up but worth doing if you intend to farm! Just be careful you don’t over level as it can ruin the fun of the game!
Great guide. It's useful for me mainly to not miss the important stuff, although I prefer to play around a little more, explore and clear areas, level up as I go on the way. Another thing that I notice that makes it a bit less useful for me is that it relies a lot on parry and Carian slicer, i.e. MELEE. I suck at melee and have never been able to parry, I rely only on ranged magic.
I’ve been playing this game since launch and honestly haven’t even completed the game cause I’ve been trying different builds so I’ll definitely try this out
19:00 I don't think that rock sling have a boosted range if you cast from the off hand. The thing is, as I've used this spell quite a lot, most bosses I killed with it, if you have a target lock near the ground level, say, another player that is on the same ground level as you, or another boss that is not really big, the spell aim will go down, making it so that the rocks fall before getting to the target, or only one hitting the target. You can see this really well when fighting against dragons, tree sentinels, and the best example, Elden Beast. In Elden Beast fight there are times when you'll manage to hit it with all of the 3 rocks even when you're across the screen, cause when it uses certain attacks, like the holy fire breath, it's target lock gets way higher compared to the ground level and so the rock that usually falls will hit the bottom end of the beast belly, while the other two will hit higher in the body.
killing Gostoc could break Nepheli's quest, I think. I killed him for the buckler and Nepheli stayed in the Hold for me until the end. maybe there's a certain boss that triggers it, though. I never killed Rykard, for example, but be wary regardless
i kill gustoc every time and complete nepheli's quest every time, he will just sell you an additional ancient dragon smithing stone if you let him live, he isn't integral to the questline
Hey man I also came to the comments looking for an answer but I couldn't find one so I kept looking and I found if you go up the stairs in that room and you go the railing above where you found the chest you'll see you can jump and find some wood with a floor and you'll have to drop down the floor and you'll be where he was in the vid
I actually think this was a short setup, mainly because the last build I did was a star scourge Greatsword build so it was like 3 hours of setup before killing Margit but the build was worth it as I dunked on everything else in the game
Loved this more longform guide, one little suggestion id have is maybe lower the background music slightly or add something a little more subtle. would love to hear the game audio a little better too. great video idea though, hope you do more like this.

has the left hand meteorite staff distance been nerfed/corrected in an update? all the builds from 2yrs ago say the same thing but i dont get as much distance even when i use the arrows reach talisman
My only complaint with this guide was that it was missing the somber six. Unless I'm mistake, there is no point in the video in which you explain where you got that one. I had to look it up and ended up getting the one by the First Mt. Gelmir Campsite. Regardless, this is a great guide for cruising through the game on a second or later playthrough. Will be doing a bunch of your guides to get a few characters up to 125 in advance of the rumored DLC.
How can i use the meteorite staff in the right hand to fight ? I need it in my left hand to entchant another weapon. If I try to use it in my main hand, the spell is just grey. 10:24 for example
My magic build is by far my strongest. I put 68 points into intelligence and using both the DARK MOON great sword and the MOONVEIL katana It felt really OP, I ended up nerfing the build because it felt too strong
I would like if you did another pure int build that doesn’t focus on rock sling and slicer the whole time. I tried it but was really bored of rock sling and slicer by the time I got to the capitol and I’m sure there are other spells out there that melt the bosses better than those two.

I'm not sure if you've ever tried it, but the flail from gatefront ruins is much better for greyoll than the Morningstar. The ash of war works without FP and procs bleed much faster

you dont pick up the lvl 12 golden rune in caelid? its just down the hill from rennas rise (where the marbles spawn) on the left in a cave. sneak in to avoid rune bear
Is anyone else going to use this build for Shadow of the Erdtree DLC? I'm going to play the DLC with a fresh character. I made Yennefer from The Witcher so hopefully, she'll do well in the DLC.
I thought this game would be like skyrim but I'm just running arounf in circle trying to find a quest. The worst is their is no quest log unless you write it down and I don't know where im supposed to go.
"Do you ever wish you could play Elden Ring in 10 hours rather than 100?" ...No actually? I kinda like that it's a lengthy adventure through what feels like an entire world. This game does me more relaxing immersion better than most MMORPG's on the market now. MMO's of the past where what I used to go to to "escape" and just explore a strange new world. FromSoft titles have gradually started replacing MMO's for me as most MMO's are now designed like mindless drivel now, shaving away the skills and abilities and crafting that made a world feel "alive" rather than like some waifu simulator...

This didn't work for me the mace took 12 strength to get the blood loss effect to work and when that was done my int could only go up to level 29 with the 64k runes gained from the dragon momma

Thanks, Brett. Glad you’re enjoying the guides! So you can use Radagons soreseal and the strength physic to meet the requirements. That’s also why we use the power stanced L1s, as you can do both phases in 60 secs by staggering him out of the skull attacks in phase 2. If you just use serpent hunter, and he starts spamming skulls, your Physik might run out and it’s game over. Thanks for watching!

At 19:04 if you equip the Arrows reach Talisman your rocks go even further and are more accurate.
I wouldn't base a build on that, as it probably will be patched out - like the enhanced left-hand-casted range which is gone now.

Fought him for the first time yesterday... 99int steamrolled him
I mean hes also very easy on a melee build. You can even kill him before he transitions to phase 2 if you time his phases well

Radahn is a sucker for rock sling. He rides after you and right into it, even at its normal range.

The thing is, as I've used this spell quite a lot, most bosses I killed with it, if you have a target lock near the ground level, say, another player that is on the same ground level as you, or another boss that is not really big, the spell aim will go down, making it so that the rocks fall before getting to the target, or only one hitting the target.
You can see this really well when fighting against dragons, tree sentinels, and the best example, Elden Beast. In Elden Beast fight there are times when you'll manage to hit it with all of the 3 rocks even when you're across the screen, cause when it uses certain attacks, like the holy fire breath, it's target lock gets way higher compared to the ground level and so the rock that usually falls will hit the bottom end of the beast belly, while the other two will hit higher in the body.
Please show places in the map because it's kinda frustrating looking for places with the cuts
killing Gostoc could break Nepheli's quest, I think. I killed him for the buckler and Nepheli stayed in the Hold for me until the end. maybe there's a certain boss that triggers it, though. I never killed Rykard, for example, but be wary regardless

Did you go to Altus early? That might have been it. You need to do her quest early on, before Altus.
U can kill gostoc and do nephelis quest without issue. I always kill that fucker on sight, and nepheli quest still goes smoothly
i kill gustoc every time and complete nepheli's quest every time, he will just sell you an additional ancient dragon smithing stone if you let him live, he isn't integral to the questline

I did this build and when I got to Rhadan (about 3 lvls more than you were) I actually beat him before he could transition to phase two

Hey man I also came to the comments looking for an answer but I couldn't find one so I kept looking and I found if you go up the stairs in that room and you go the railing above where you found the chest you'll see you can jump and find some wood with a floor and you'll have to drop down the floor and you'll be where he was in the vid

has the left hand meteorite staff distance been nerfed/corrected in an update? all the builds from 2yrs ago say the same thing but i dont get as much distance even when i use the arrows reach talisman

I know this is old at this point, but I kind of wish you had a section that just showed all the equipment you use in the run
My only complaint with this guide was that it was missing the somber six. Unless I'm mistake, there is no point in the video in which you explain where you got that one. I had to look it up and ended up getting the one by the First Mt. Gelmir Campsite. Regardless, this is a great guide for cruising through the game on a second or later playthrough. Will be doing a bunch of your guides to get a few characters up to 125 in advance of the rumored DLC.
How can i use the meteorite staff in the right hand to fight ? I need it in my left hand to entchant another weapon. If I try to use it in my main hand, the spell is just grey.

My magic build is by far my strongest. I put 68 points into intelligence and using both the DARK MOON great sword and the MOONVEIL katana It felt really OP, I ended up nerfing the build because it felt too strong
I would like if you did another pure int build that doesn’t focus on rock sling and slicer the whole time. I tried it but was really bored of rock sling and slicer by the time I got to the capitol and I’m sure there are other spells out there that melt the bosses better than those two.

I have found to always go counter clockwise on Placidusax laser attack. This was with bloodhound prior to 1.06 patch, dunno if it's still viable

I'm not sure if you've ever tried it, but the flail from gatefront ruins is much better for greyoll than the Morningstar. The ash of war works without FP and procs bleed much faster

Is anyone else going to use this build for Shadow of the Erdtree DLC? I'm going to play the DLC with a fresh character. I made Yennefer from The Witcher so hopefully, she'll do well in the DLC.
I thought this game would be like skyrim but I'm just running arounf in circle trying to find a quest. The worst is their is no quest log unless you write it down and I don't know where im supposed to go.

I kinda like that it's a lengthy adventure through what feels like an entire world. This game does me more relaxing immersion better than most MMORPG's on the market now. MMO's of the past where what I used to go to to "escape" and just explore a strange new world. FromSoft titles have gradually started replacing MMO's for me as most MMO's are now designed like mindless drivel now, shaving away the skills and abilities and crafting that made a world feel "alive" rather than like some waifu simulator...

This didn't work for me the mace took 12 strength to get the blood loss effect to work and when that was done my int could only go up to level 29 with the 64k runes gained from the dragon momma

@@ThingfishyGaming thanks you I learned how to beat Godskin Duo parrying Noble exclusively and fitting in some sorcery spells to poke Apostle. For Malenia I got to your tutorial but really it goes take time to get your timings right
Yeah she’s tough! Took me probably 12 hours to get all the timings down, and the 1-2 still gets me 40% of the time, so keep going!

Thanks, Brett. Glad you’re enjoying the guides! So you can use Radagons soreseal and the strength physic to meet the requirements. That’s also why we use the power stanced L1s, as you can do both phases in 60 secs by staggering him out of the skull attacks in phase 2. If you just use serpent hunter, and he starts spamming skulls, your Physik might run out and it’s game over. Thanks for watching!
