Update on Amway in China since '97 In 1998, after abuses of illegal pyramid schemes led to riots, the Chinese government enacted a ban on all direct selling companies, including Amway. After the negotiations, some companies like Amway, Avon, and Mary Kay continued to operate through a network of retail stores promoted by an independent sales force. China introduced new direct selling laws in December 2005, and in December 2006 Amway was one of the first companies to receive a license to resume direct sales. However, the law forbids teachers, doctors, and civil servants from becoming direct sales agents for the company and, unlike in the U.S., salespeople in China are ineligible to receive commissions from sales made by the distributors they recruit. In 2006, Amway China had a reported 180,000 sales representatives, 140 stores, and $2 billion in annual sales. In 2007 Amway Greater China and South-east Asia Chief Executive Eva Cheng was ranked No.88 by Forbes magazine in its list of the World's Most Powerful Women. In 2008, China was Amway's largest market, reporting 28% growth and sales of ¥17 billion (US$2.5 billion). According to a report in Bloomberg Businessweek in April 2010, Amway had 237 retail shops in China, 160,000 direct sales agents, and US$3 billion in revenue
Had to be . Did u see the girls cel phone?? That thing doesnt even use a sim card if u guys remember. So it had to be filmed in the 90s. Gotta give it to that Amway genius who came up with this crap.

If the true test of balanced journalism is to leave their audience in a quandary, not confusion but more so cognitive dissonance, then you have succeeded. Every instinct of mine says, "Amway is a pyramid scheme compounded by fallacious Horatio Alger stories," yet before my disbelieving eyes, reigns joy and exaltation previously unknown to the lot of them. Alternatively, thinking of a bored man who decides to jump off a 50 story building, despite his friends' strong disapproval, just for the thrill of the experience. Tumbling earthward, he gleefully shouts to his nervous friends gathered on the 40th floor, "See, all is well so far!"
George McGovern Yea China has really stepped it up in the last decade, you should see pictures of Shanghai 1990 vs. 2014 its a huge difference, many Chinese cities are like that
The real money's in the more suckers you recruit to sell over priced crap , it all comes apart when people can't wait for a product and go to the supermarket and buy a branded toothpaste

13:56 I think he will be disappointed when he visits the U.S and realize that it isnt "The most advanced nation in the world, and its a very cultured nation as well" sure the military is the most advanced in the world because the U.S spends more than all the other countries in the world combined but the rest of society seriously lags behind its military supremacy for example we always come close to the bottom in education, infrastructure, corruption, and there are many other things that can be improved as well like corporations owning senators, lobbyist, and a do nothing congress no matter who is in power. The only things the U.S still has going for it is that it has good programmers, tons of oil, and most of the worlds new inventions are designed by people living in the U.S.
This video is 20 years ago. In fact all the Journeyman Pictures 's videos recently released over the new year 2015, are ten to twenty years old. Journeyman Pictures should be upfront that these are 10 - 20 year videos they are releasing.

It's a time capsule, as the city of Gaungzhou does not even look like anymore.

Interesting snapshot of china in a certain time period, but I fail to see the relevance today. Why not make an up to date documentary?
And now all of these MLM scams have to come to Vietnam.
