    A little twist to bring about a great change in taste:
    Dry roast the moong dal in a pan before washing it. Then wash it and follow the recipe as it is... Do try and let me know

      Being a person from Bengal I always dry roast moong dal before making a simple moong dal but I never bother to roast it for this recipe as I always make this recipe when I am in a rush. Today I made it as advised by you and OMG it was too delicious. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    I just made this for dinner tonight. Oh my is it ever good! I did take some liberties, intending no offense. I added onion, garlic, carrot and black pepper to get in more healthy veg and had to leave out the ghee (vegan) and did not use the whole chili as the powder added enough heat for us. I doubled the batch and we'll have it tonight with your okra (so so good) and rice and DH will take it for his lunch tomorrow. Next time I'll make 4x the amount and freeze it for busy days.
    The bitter melon is almost done draining so I'm off to make that recipe now.
    Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to make these videos. Not to give TMI but for health reasons we've completely overhauled our diet and your recipes are perfect for what we need to be eating. Anyone who says vegan food can't be exciting and delicious hasn't seen your channel. We are so looking forward to trying many more of your recipes.

    Hi I’ve not long discovered your channel and I love it! How do you cook the Moong Dal if you don’t have a pressure cooker? Thanks 🙏🏼

    • @CurriesWithBumbi
      @CurriesWithBumbi  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can cook it in a pot. You will have to add more water from time to time as the water dries up faster when cooked in a pot. Always add hot water. It will also take longer to cook compared to pressure cooker, but moong dal cooks faster than any other lentils.

    • @CurriesWithBumbi

      You can leave out the chili powder if you have any concerns but nowhere in any medical books will you find that chili peppers cause heart attack. It may cause heart burn ( gastritis) if you have in large amounts and if you are sensitive to the heat. That’s why I always say adjust the proportion of spices according to your preference.

    • @CurriesWithBumbi

      Unfortunately I never follow whistle method so can’t say but stick to the number of whistles you generally give for making any regular dal. Make large pieces of bottle gourd . Thanks a lot for watching and leaving a comment. Stay tuned.

    • @SriSri-ei1yi
      @SriSri-ei1yi 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually for Moong Dal one whistle is more than sufficient!! As that you are adding bottlegourd if its tender in one whistle it will be cooked if it not that tender go for another whistle!! For moong dal there is a tendency to burn so add a tad bit of more water while cooking!! Hope my reply helped!!
