Moonshine, often romanticized as a simple country pleasure, has a darker side. It's dangerous to produce, sometimes deadly to consume, and illegal. In the Blue Ridge Mountains, moonshining is more than a tradition-it's a way of life deeply intertwined with local culture and history. Despite its illicit nature, many see it as a source of Southern pride and heritage.
Just need to get rid of the first half quart we used to be able to get Everclear in my state and have garbage can moonshine and fruit parties but not no more😢
@@JimHugg you can still get it in NC & WI I know some states like Va have it but it's 150 proof but WI it's still 190 in Kenosha WI any way couple yrs back started to get it but too damn old to make jungle juice or purple passion lol and pretty sure NC had the 190 proof too many kids getting in trouble and couple getting killed so they stopped making it but guess they figured kids doing different stuff now so started making it again a many HS party be a couple half gallons of evercleqr involved lol

I was a severe drinker for over 20 years.... I treated the moonshine like 80 proof. WOW! was I wrong. From that day forward, moonshine was only for special occasions. That's all behind me though. 4 years sober March 2. 🎯
Thirty four minutes in, before I started reading comments. I never noticed the “distracting” banjo music. Raised differently, I guess… Edit: Oh there’s some at 45:00. Huh.
When i was on vacation in Kentucky, i met a guy who knew a guy who knew about a guy who made some original, untaxed Moonshine. I'm a Euro who doesn't drink (anymore), so that was interesting haha. It's better than Vodka. I thought it was the coolest thing. It has a cool ''illegal'' aftertaste 😁 Love you forever, Midwest.

No kidding although if it was be almost afraid to drink it we used to get some good Floyd county for 75~100 a gallon more you'd buy cheaper it get but nothin close to 20 a gallon
Making Hillbilly moonshine is part on American Heritage and history going back 100+ years. Where i live marihuana is legal and everyone can grow it at home for personal use. Making moonshine for personal use should be legal too.
I never understood why US G man never put into law simple thing, everyone is allowed certain amount of likker for personal consumption to produce by himself, anything over you just tax it like it will go for sale and let it ride...no revenue lost. now, probably you will still have those who want to hide how much they produce but if you give them opportunity and they fail then they have no complain against G man, as they have now. To be honest, in EU is working on similar way, many countries have different allowable amount but in every country is illegal to sell to consumers yet you can sell it to companies who have a licence to bottle it and sell it, or you simply apply for bottling license, which means selling to consumers.

Great documentary
I like the Miller´s, They have a good old Deutz 06
38:35 that agent waited his whole life to say 'bootleg liquor' on camera
So big name companies can make whiskey, but regular people can’t make their own?
This doc needs more banjo!
The (28:52) radio playing all the time is to keep rodents out of the area. Just sayin’.
Edit: I’ve read. 😶

It's not against the law in Texas, I'm about to make some wine then alcohol...🤠
I believe there price is 80$ shy, minimum $100.00 a gallon, not $20.00
Its on older video
Why is there so much banjo playing?
@@joshlandt3439 🤡🤡🤡
@@joshlandt3439 Are you jealous, Cletus? 😜
Is that annoying music necessary
50 minutes of almost nonstop, banjo, and harmonica. My ears are bleeding way to ruin a good documentary.
Agreed wholeheartedly, I was looking forward to Copper Head Road doc but all we got was 50 min music video.
Banjo music is a lot better than salsa I can tell you that
1 minute in and read your comment. Thanks for the heads up.
I didn't even notice, everybodys different
I guess you don't need to watch stuff like this then what did you think they were going to play rap lol😅
The music made this so hard to watch I count finish the episode
im out, to much background noise
I still watch the show but I found out the illegal parts are staged
Another doc not made by endeavor
