Saiki had previously this song talked about the COVID times and how they all miss the live concerts and tryed to cheer up the audience.
Saiki carried this song. Her development as a vocalist is a story of its own. Since her vocal surgery, her voice has blossomed. So happy for her and the band.
Great reaction. This song was a love letter they wrote from the band to their fans. Before performing the song Saiki talked about the struggles over the past year and was very emotional about what this song meant to them. Here is the English translation of what she said.
Saiki: We were supposed to meet you today. For the first time in a year, we thought we could meet you all, those of you who could come to see us, but we can’t meet you in the end. I’m sorry. Even though it’s not my fault.
We have been having days of turmoil for about a year. In the beginning, we were very surprised because we hadn’t experienced it before, and we had no experience of not being able to meet others in person. We were sad, but we found we shouldn’t be sad in this situation. When I saw you masters and princesses on social media, you were more depressed than us, and we thought that’s terrible.
We Band-Maid have been thinking about how to cheer up all of you in the last one year. We truly wanted to meet you at Nippon Budokan, but it’s impossible because of COVID, so let’s wait for the day when we can meet.
And in the last one year… or in the COVID pandemic, we have become more eager to cheer you up, and we Band-Maid realized again it’s important to give our songs to you.
That’s why we wrote this song for Budokan.
We made the album also in the pandemic, so it might have a little similar feel, but this song is planned for Nippon Budokan, and we really want to give it to you masters and princesses now.
Budokan is not our goal but just a stepping stone. We will perform at bigger venues, and we promise we will bring you there and give you even better songs, so let’s keep it up a little more.

🐦 On Feb. 14th, 2020 concert *BAND-MAID* announced that they were going to play at *Budokan* on Feb 11th, 2021 playing at *Budokan* is like reaching the top of Mt. Everest but due to Covid the concert was canceled. In the live streaming concert *Saiki* address the fans and said how much *BAND-MAID* missed performing live to their *Masters and Princesses* and was followed up with this song that *BAND-MAID* has made for their fans. 🐦
On May 10, 2021 *BAND-MAID* had a live streaming concert.

Its OK to let the tears flow. This song is about what WE ALL are living through. Not able to be doing all those things we used to do. Soon we will. I asked you for this one when it came out (as I wipe a few tears away). Now go check out WONDERLAND. It is not as soft as this one. Now watch it again, read and feel the music and LET THE TEARS OUT. It is healthy.

BANDMAID is the BEST BAND to come out of Japan or anywhere else for that matter! It’s hard to comprehend the Talent Level of this band...................they are off the charts! Every day of my life is a “treat” not knowing if BANDMAID will release another AWESOME SONG! FANTASTIC!
I am loving Saiki more and more each time I watch a Band-Maid video. An amazing vocalist, a gorgeous young lady, and after reading the translation of her message below, she truly is a sweetheart of a human being. I truly hope one day to meet you and your bandmates too, Saiki.

@@seppukun208 Depends on how you define ballad. Colloquially it is usually just used to refer to slower, vocalist heavy songs. If you go by the formal definition then none of their songs are. Admittedly, Endless story might be a bit of a stretch.
Definitely need more people reacting to Endless Story, their most underrated song IMO

The more I heard Miku's lyrics the more I love her. She convinced 4 strangers to wear maid uniforms on stage and perform "cool" music, learned guitar, learned to sing and play the guitar, and writes some of the finest lyrics in music. Before someone says it, Yes I know Saiki is now working with Miku on the lyrics.

That's got to be one of the most beautiful rock ballads ever done. In all respects. Those base runs from Misa just blow me away.

Heard this song for the first time tonight, then found your great reaction so I could listen again! Band Maids will have a new ballad soon named “Memorable”. Hopefully you got a chance to see them live in their recent US tour that ended Nov 1st. I was fortunate to see them in Chicago that evening. Was 10th in line at 5:30 AM, so managed to be on front railing 5’ from stage ! 💫

You just listened to ALONE, which is an oldy for them. I just finally got the CD with SCREAMING on it. The album is called START OVER. Its an EP with just two songs. I listened to SCREAMING six times on the way home at FULL BLAST in my car. 1000 watts. Its on the Club Shibuya concert show. WOW!!! SO GOOD.
I can't tell you how many times I've heard this song and seen this video by now, but I always feel the same way as you do at the end. Goosebumps and a lump in my throat.
Even before I knew the translation, the song did that to me from the instrumental alone. Needless to say, that it didn't get any better after I understood the lyrics.

At this point I can't help but recommend the song 'Daydreaming' to you. This song may not be quite as calm as this one, but still falls into the same category and is just beautiful from my point of view. In fact, it is even my absolute personal favorite. I know that may be selfish then, but believe me, you won't regret it and simply belongs in your already decent collection of B-M songs. And even though it's rare with these ladies, for once I recommend the MV and not a live performance.

Yes it's completely different to their heavier material that you like but that’s what makes The Maids so special. The ability to produce beautiful atmospheric ballads like this then hit it heavy with Rinne. Sign of a great band to mix it up. Unseen World is completely different to Conqueror. This song wasn’t on their latest album but released afterwards as a separation piece between fans and the band. That they can't play live. This is a Miku thumbnail (though Saiki is not far behind). Has her name is written all over it. Beautiful vocals by a beautiful woman. Their acoustic versions of Anemone and Puzzle really highlight their light side with great acoustic guitar work from Kanami (reasonance and timing superb) and Saiki's emotional vocals. Daydreaming is a power ballad and you'll enjoy Kanami's solo (Akane's drumming of course too). Miku's backing vocal afterwards though just brings back that light emotional side that she's so good at singing as here. Ying and yang.
Band Maid's all about creativity and diversity though and they show it here in About Us. They're a brilliant band with exceptionally talented women. Let's just hope the band can tour sooner rather later.

And if I remember correctly, Daydreaming comes right after this. The ladies once again, like they always do, adds a new intro to keep the song fresh.

What other band would even think of this let alone produce a masterpiece. It shows the real depth of talent at every stage. Kanami of course with her writing skills but all the band and especially Saiki working to offer a heartfelt comment on a situation beyond all of our control. It also shows that Band Maid can expand their repetoire into other areas with the same masterful skills.
This song is sadness, longing, hope for the future and love, all for the fans.

Dude I was near tears the first 10 or so times. It's simply one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, and so much more poignant given its context and absolutely heart melting lyrics.
Not that she doesn't always do it, but damn, Misa is putting in some work on this one.

yes I agree with everything beautiful ballad and SAIKI met with the complete band before this performance and reinforced how important this was, and then we get THIS. Are you sure you haven't heard them do a ballad? I could swear I saw you react to "Daydreaming". It's not as delicate as this one, but I would say that is counts as a power ballad.
Every one of them went all in on this song, performance wise. But everytime I hear it, Misa's bass line just reminds me that she is the M.V.P. as her line weaves it all together.
It's a beautiful love letter to their fans, so feel free to let the tears flow, brother. There is no shame in it. If you haven't heard "Daydreaming" yet, you have to do that one next! I just wish the Zepp Tokyo version was still on TH-cam as it has a chill/tear inducing piano intro that makes Saiki's first vocal line hit you like a sledgehammer to the forehead. But the official M.V. is badass too.
