No its people that have been waiting for this game for years only to get screwed over with no vita version since this game was a PSP title.
Square Enix had the voice acting and translation done for years but refused to release it in the west. The game isn't too demanding and could easily be ported to Vita.

Yu Narukami Why would square enix support it? Sony is not even producing very many aaa games for it. There is no reason to put the money in to port it when you can just have it on two consoles which have already sold very well in half the time of the vita being out.

PSP was actually pretty successful in the west, its just that piracy hurt it alot.
This is all nice and stuff but a PSP game has no excuse to not have a ps3/Wii U/ Vita version.... SPECIALLY a vita version!

PS3: Previous gen hardware, Type 0 is also being used to drive interest in FFXV, only on PS4 and XO.
Wii U: Poor third party sales, it's best third party game (Bayonetta 2 which is incredible btw) hasn't even sold a million yet.

Aleks Dorohovich The whole point of this release was so that the Western world could experience Type 0, Tabata already confirmed that. The best way for us to experience this game AND make money is either Mobile or PS4/XO. And I'm damn glad it didn't come to Mobile but they gave it a nice and shiny treatment. As for SaGA, you answered your own question, Vita is fairly alive in Japan so they will release it there and capitalize on that market, a western release is slim
Aleks Dorohovich Yeah, it does make sense :) Type 0 would be just as graphically good looking on Wii U, I'm sure (I own one for it's great games). The problem is Third parties feel like they struggle to sell on Wii U, which is partly true. I highly recommend looking up Dan Adelman's recent interview from this week to gain some insight into Nintendo and their current situation.
Anyone thumbs downing this is just upset they can't play it...truth. This looks amazing and Square Enix deserves the credit for putting in so much effort into an HD remake. Already got my pre order paid for and ready to pick up at launch. Can't wait!
That's nice and all, but it still doesn't excuse the lack of a PS3 and VITA port.
They need to abandon those platforms. Vita is a joke in comparison to the 3DS and the PS3 is far too outdated. They need to focus 90% on the PS4 from now on.

I could see this on the PS3. On the Vita, idk. The market in the west for Sony handhelds never fared that well from the start, honestly.

This is how every HD remake should be. Not just new resolution with same textures. This time, you nailed it SE.
The reason why this game is on the PS4 and Xbox One is to entice Japanese players to get these two consoles (well, mainly the PS4, lets be real here) before Final Fantasy XV comes out...it's simple and makes sense to me. The game also comes with a FF XV demo after all.
The current gen consoles aren't doing so hot over there considering there is hardly any Japanese games on them yet.
Thats the main reason why to be fair. Not many japanese titles available, which is a shame since japanese developers remain the best out there.

Have this preordered mostly for the demo, but the game is actually shaping up nicely too.
Psh, run the PSP game through an emulator and the models can look just as good as the HD version.

Yeah no, seriously. Running at a higher native resolution, and 1080p which some filters, it can look this good. PS4 version added a bunch of bloom and lighting etc, but the models that are shown here on the PSP comparison are purposely jaggy just to make the PS4 version look better. Same thing happened with FFX HD and PS2 emulators.
SephirothClone just because you can make the models look smoother with an emulator does not mean you can get them to look like this. there is an obvious difference here. this isn't like when ps2 games are upscaled for ps3. you can tell alot of these graphics were redone from the ground up. theres no way in hell you can get the psp version to look like the ps4 version, no matter what kind of emulator and/or hacks you may use.
SephirothClone There's no way that's true. The PSP textures, geometry, shadows, lightning are not nearly as detailed. There are also obvious things missing like self-shadowing, surface reflection, etc. Obviously most of the shadows in the PSP version is just texture work.
(Not buying the game though, since I have a system (Vita) that could run the game with little effort and the translation is obviously there, plus all other localisation related hurdles were cleared. Even if it comes to other platforms I own like PC.)
The team really outdid themselves! This looks great! I'm really excited to play it. Too bad I'll be in the middle of my university courses. I'll have to wait just a little bit longer.

I'm kinda sad that they gone easier on the colors and removed some of the blue-ish filters on the screen.
They can remake this but not the countless other titles we been asking for. Aka chrono trigger ffVII etc
I was so pissed that this game was never released outside Japan. Now it's looking like it was worth the wait! I finally get to play it, and it looks better than ever!

I can't believe the amount of people asking for a Vita port. It's like the Vita suddenly became the best selling system...when in actuality (ironically) it's the least selling system thus far. X1/PS4 has a much wider reach, plus the FFXV demo packed in will also hit both consoles. I have a feeling that the Vita demand is just to complain about Square-Enix pulling out the fan translated PSP version, which encouraged people to pirate the UMD rip for free in order to play it.
People are asking like crazy for a Vita version like crazy for an obvious reason... The same demand that they said got this HD Localization going was PSP/Vita players. Not Xbox or Ps3/4 players. They begged for it and got the game into existence and then where ignored for what they did. Of course they're going to say something. If this BS wasn't being pulled Vita wouldn't be in such a bad position...
Not to mention, look at IGN's Preview. They caught something that I knew would be an issue. The Portable intent and style of the game. You know with plenty of loading rooms, well that's still in it and trust me lol, if that's still in it and you're playing on a PS4 for fk sake. You'll notice lmao
Well the fact that Square released an HD remaster of FFX on this vita as well tells us that they seem to care about the vita still so idk man.
FFXHD was announced way earlier and they just chose to still release it. Would be worse to say, no more Vita version
Androxean FFX/X-2 is practically their only vita game. I would assume they were either just testing the waters or decided they had sunk too much money into that version not to release it.

This looks damn good. Love the art style. Something about games like this with static backgrounds look really good to me. Those previews for Persona 5 are another good example.

Looks decent, however they should have made it less colorful like the PSP version and added in some definition to make it look less flat. Can't wait to pick up my copy though!

For those wondering why this game is exclusive to the current generation of consoles, I believe - and I'm paraphrasing - that Square explained they hope to get people on board with the PS4/Xbox One in preparation for FFXV. Type-0 HD is them breaking FF fans into the new consoles.
You obviously couldn't play the FFXV demo on anything less than said consoles, either.
I think the overhaul is pretty nice, but still think the price could be lower. The limited edition case is so damn gorgeous, though.
$60 is way too high for a 4 year old PSP game. At least $40 would have been more fair but Square is only charging that much just because of the demo. I refuse to buy the HD version till it comes to Vita.

And even then, the demo is only available to those who purchase the first wave of Type-0 shipments. So depending how long that lasts, you'll be paying that price for the game alone.

3. There's quite a bit of death (including chocobo death).

You can play the PSP version on the PC in whatever resolution you want, if you're "crafty" enough. I recommend getting a PS4 though, this, XV, Bloodborne... it'd be a worthy investment imho.

Chill people, the vita version will come, SE is just releasing this to add hype for the FFXV demo and charge for it, thats why this have a full price tag of 59 when it should be 19.90-24.90 like it should..... but I think that after this the Vita version will come maybe even the new 3DS will have it.... IMO
The upgrade is noted and obvious. However, I feel, graphically its much closer to a high end PS3 exclusive rather than a true next gen title. It looks like it could even be rendered on the PS Vita with some drawbacks but possible with proper adjustments.
Whatever, you don't need to convince me, already have it pre-ordered for the FFXV Demo mainly, but I like the overall concept of type-0 HD. Its what I wanted rwby to be but that failed because of the strong female character bias and toxic presence, just like GW2. This will put those other two to shame, its about damn time.

That's a shame. You'll be missing out on the very first M-rated Final Fantasy, and by far one of the best Final Fantasy plots since 7. I played the Japanese version and it's by far my favorite story since. Not to mention it's gotten high scores by japanese gaming sites who said this has been the best final fantasy in the last 10 years. Don't knock it till you try it, amigo.
the graphical overhaul is there and thats clear as day but ff13-1 and 2 had better graphics in them so i dont see how this couldnt work on the ps3. hell even the vita could handle the hd version if they actually tried to put it on it.

I love hearing the word "port" on games like these. They have to legitimately be 'remade' since you can't really port games from a PSP to a PS4 without remaking it from the ground up. Which...isn't really a port.

Lol no, this version has new models, new retextures everywhere, high res font etc. I played it on emulator aswell and nowhere near as good looking as this :P This is superior in every way
But not every textures are renewed - i'm not hating, but at places, this looks like quite the bipolar title, but of course, better this than the emulator version
59$ for just HD remake from PSP system. It's not fair. I'm huge Final Fantasy fan but i will not pay full AAA game price for HD remake.

If Square thought they'd make a profit releasing on the PS3, they'd do it. However, this is nothing new though. The phasing out of last gen was just the same. I think this year will be the last time we'll see any of the major games launching on last gen systems and I doubt we'll even see CoD on the PS3/360 this year. End of an era and it's been a good one. But it's time to move on.

for 60 bucks you have to do more than upres the game.
They obviously has done more than up-res/up-scale. There are more textures, lighting and other graphic enchantment. Tabata-san also commented that they have been improved camera-angle to match character control movement and gameplay. Overall game has already 90% being done until it's gone gold. He stated that if he could he would like to build the graphic interface from the ground up, but that would likely take a lot of effort commitment and money. He needs to focus on FFXV as a current director of the game. In my opinion, if you can't afford $60, then just wait until the price drop unless you do want FFXV demo. Then, you have to get the game on day one.

I don't care if it's in HD. They cut Co-Op out of this game. This would have been one of the few FF games that has multiplayer. (not counting MMO's)

I know right. It would have been so fun. I wouldn't care if it took a little longer. If they added that in, that would make this game one of the best Final Fantasy games yet. This could be such a better game with co op. We've already waited 4 years for this game. A little longer wont hurt.

Wow. I must say I'm upset by the comments here... Then again it's TH-cam. Honestly I've accepted that's not coming to PS3 and Vita aged ago. For Vita it makes sense, it's a dead platform, even Sony doesn't want to put anymore effort into it even though it's a pretty powerful handheld. "But ma FFX/X-2 Remaster on Vita!" Differences in hardware. It was easier to do it with FFX since it was also being developed for PS3 as well. Meanwhile the PS4 is using a different architecture than that. There's also the fact that they want to grab and attract Japanese gamers to the new consoles since they already played it on the PSP, leaving it on Vita and PS3 would defeat that purpose.
And if you thought the Vita version was "promised", it was just a big fucked-up error. Move on folks. SE don't care about Type-0 being on Vita, either put up with it and don't buy it or buy it since you keep looking at these videos (surely you're interested enough).
Graphics mean nothing to me. For example, I have no problem enjoying Final Fantasy 7 for the PS1 even today. and that game looks awful. all square and pixelated and shit. But if I like the characters in any way and the story is good, then I'll be studying every aspect of that video game, exploring every corner of the world, revealing all secrets, etc.
I honestly think that all Final Fantasy games are good enough (especially when they are not compared with one another) but not all them gets my full attention. Titles like "crystal chronicles" or "tactics" are just not for me. And I thought _FF Type-0_ was gonna be the same kinda game. I was so wrong.
It can be said that _FF type-0_ came to me, even though, I kept avoiding it all this time.
I found myself learning about the effort some fans made to translate the PSP version. Then I came to know that there is 14 playable character to choose almost from the very beginning !!! That alone was enough for me to give it a chance.
I always say that the story is the best part of any FF game, but I'm just starting playing _Type-0_ now and I have no idea what dafaq is going on....... and I don't even care. xD
It seems to be that the story has to be put toghether by the player, and I'm enjoying that. I'm spending most of the time in the library reading shit, doing side quests, talking to all kinds of people. I'm doing everything but the main missions. xD
I'm enjoying every aspect of this Final Fanasy title. At times, I even feel as if this video game was "talking" to me....
It definitely has magic....
To hell with all the other games !!!!! xD my whole focus is in _Type-0_ right now. I just regret for not giving it a chance when I first knew it existed.
