Yeah, I was a year and a half years old when President Carter took office in 1977. I recently just turned 49, funny to think I'm not that far from his age back then, he was 52 going on 53.

For instance Jimmy Carter put solar panels on the White House roof back in the late 70s and people made that out to be the work of a soy boy pansy weak tree hugging liberal. Reagan took the solar panels down because it they weren't macho. But today, a lot of people have solar panels on their roof and nobody thinks it's "gay" or something stupid like that. I really really got into the 1992 election, on my own accord with Bush Sr and Bill Clinton when I was in high school. 1992 election and Bill Clinton was for me what I imagine for a lot of younger kids the 2008 election with Obama was.

On a recent trip to Costa Rica, my wife and I along with several other couples, hired a local to take us on a day tour in his van. He and his son did a remarkable job of taking us to some beautiful sites and introducing us to their country. About midway thru the tour he elected to tell us the story about how Jimmy Carter during his volunteer years helped build a new house for his mother, thus his mom named her first born son Jimmy. Jimmy continued the tradition as his first born is also named Jimmy. What a fantastic man, president and world leader.
He was born before the great depression, and is one of the last person to live from the Greatest generation. President Carter is a fantastic man who has done so many fantastic things for humanity. Jimmy Carter was President when i was born. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest humanitarians who has ever lived. The Nobel Prize for peace was well deserved.
And this is the character of a president that America should aspire for. Jimmy Carter was the first president I was able to vote for when I turned18. I've voted every election since. I'm honored to see my vote counted. It's beautiful to see his legacy, taking care of others and helping those in need. Happy 100 Jimmy!!!

It'll be a particularly sad day when he dies, he has seen the US get through some of its darkest days during WW2 and the Cold War.
