Hi Paul. Love your videos with lots of detail. I used this one to replace the interior light fixture on my 2011 Mazda 3 with the exact assembly you show. I accidentally found it was better to press in the middle of the BACK part of the assembly (rather than the front). Once removed you can see that the back part of the assembly is much more flexible and with very little effort the whole thing comes out. Couldn't have done it without your video.......without breaking something, that is. Thanks again! Florida, USA
Hey, Paul! I’m from Arizona, USA. Thanks for posting this. It’s hot here, and plastic gets very brittle. I had to do this right the first time, or else!
Hi Tony, yes, it is hot in Australia too. The plastic in these assemblies gets very brittle. They are getting harder and harder to find second hand in good condition. I note that you can buy them new on Amazon. Paul.
Thanks. From Texas USA. I have an annoying rattling noise coming from somewhere inside the headliner. I will try that and check the inside to trace the noise. Thank you
Thanks for the guide. One question though, is the small hole in the middle (right where you pry open), between the two lights, of any use? Is it a light sensor? An LED? Thanks.
@@PaulinPerththanks so much! I followed this tutorial and it worked great at my local scrapyard to recover a dome light assembly to replace my cracked one!
I'm not familiar with that model, but there is a very good chance the light is installed the same way. Try it, and if it works, then please post your results here. Paul.
I am guessing this is to replace the whole unit? Those clear plastic covers come off for the light bulb replacement so you dont have to pull the unit down
I haven't made a video for the rear light, but I assume it is mounted in the same way. Just slip a thin tool in at ninety degrees to the roof and the mounting should come apart. Paul.

Genius. Do you think there would be much difference from the gen 1?
I am pretty sure this general approach works with most Mazdas if not most Japanese cars. Feel free to drop me a comment when you give it a go. Paul.

You could probably use a couple of bread-knives. Just make sure the wife doesn't find out! :)
Are you able to just change the bulb? I've been wondering if I can replace them with led's so it won't drain my battery if I leave a light on.
There are videos on this. If you search you will find them. It can be done.
@@PaulinPerth I guess I forgot I posted this. I did find some great videos on it. Thank you!

I can remove the assembly but how do you remove the connector!!!
Just press the tab on the side of the plug. It's quite small. You might need to use a little flathead screwdriver.

@@JuniorJackson-s6z The lens can be pried off with a small flat screwdriver
