@@NinjutsuKojiki no need for the apology, and im quite impressed. i've tried nodachi before and understand the difficulty of using such a great weapon, which makes your skill that much more impressive
I find it so fascinating how many of these movements start to share so many qualities with something like a European Longsword. It makes sense though! Both are both capable of cutting, thrusting, and have similar lengths of handle and blade. Human bodies are all similar enough that the most efficient movements would have a lot of overlap.
Im actually still very new to the nodachi, and my movements are stff and jagged, I have looked for some folks to help give me tips but most martial classes do not train in the nodachi Any advice for a beginer like my self
Lol not high, I just gave my thoughts on how I approached my training, strange as it sounds but the Tao to martial arts and weapons training is a relationship. Like a dance lol you’ll figure it out
Also, also, If you could inform me of your height and length of your Odachi? As I may use for referential information on how to size my future Odachi. Arigatōgozaimasu.
It’s necessary to use the Odachi in this way due to the leverage of the weapon. Consider if you were blocking a downward strike and had both hands on the hilt; unless you have world class strongman levels of strength the weapon would fall back onto you.
Excellent technique! I have 2 major problems with this video, no offense. 1 is that a Samurai, like yourself, should wear your helmet in case you fight another sword master. Therefore, your technique (which implies practice) should reflect that. 2nd, a forest setting is terrible for such a long blade. Still great technique!❤
It goes just like, in a tmnt game, what turtle you prefer, leonardo or donatelo? Donatelo has a long staff, but slow, while raphael's sais are quick but with few range, a duality in everythink, pure zenbudism aplicated in the nature n universe.
if you wanna see a full weighted 1060 high carbon steel one used i have some videos on my channel. it is definitely harder but im honestly jealous of the one in this video because he has no fear of getting cut 😂
As someone that has 30+ years in practical Japanese and other martial arts: you are doing well, however your timing is out. Sometimes it's your body movement, others it is your sword. You will get there. It all takes time. Well done on a great vid.
Everything about this is beautiful but that behind the back sheathe at the end? PERFECTION
I was gonna say that!!!!!!!!😂❤❤❤❤
Smooth, fluid, graceful^^ You've mastered the nodashi, no doubt 😮 Very impressive!
Very very nice.
★★★★★ Take it.

A thousand thanks 🙏🏻♥️ Forgive me if I answer now. The channel had problems with comments that we have only now fixed

Damn that was cool
A horseback charge with one of this are an epic sight to behold.
ALL THAT AND NO BENDING. NIIIIICE!. SHEATHING REMINDED ME OF THOSE LONG SPOUTED TEA POTS.
I wouldnt be surprised is you mastered the drying pole style like kojiro your very fluid with your strikes very nice brother
Randomly recommended while watching a video about tachis 10/10
Also, I would be privileged to learn from You and or your Sensei.

I began myself several years, try becoming one with the movement of your sword, move as one when you take a step, grounded but light as a leaf
@@Withinreasonandlogic -_- How high were you when you posted that.

@@Withinreasonandlogic I found a german book on long swords suprisingly effective and functions really well.
@@agentwolfpl4703this comment killed me lmao
Hello there, can someone recommend me any books about nodachi please?
they say oh neeeerd etc, nah, freak them, yall exploring ur dream mate.
Sephiroth is here!!
Your not a master Your a artist the way you move your nodachi it looks like the a artist would move his brush absolutely beautiful
Então Sephiroth usava uma nodashi 🤔
めっちゃかっこええわぁ…野太刀なんて扱いが難しいやろ。剣筋のブレもなく、振り回されることなく振り切ってるところに、修練の跡を感じる。お見事。
How much does this sword weigh?
Where did you purchase that nodachi? Fantastic movement btw.
Greatsword technic
Man, you have a nice flow...

What is the name of this dance?
Is the Nodachi equivalent to the european medieval greatsword? The fluid movements based on keeping momentum sure give this impression, great vid!
Genadiy Bukin what are you doing?
is this a horse cutter? which cut takes the horse?
These have to be heavy swords
Where did you get that sword?
Yari no hanzo
Katana (Uchigatana) can go to hell, Nodachis and Tachis are absolutely weapons for men in battle!
When he grabs the sword blade, he is trying to perform half swording?
pretty much, yeah. how else would you use it?

How we all thought we looked playing with sticks as kids:
Just wondering if the nodachi was made after sasaki kojiro
this is longer than what he would have used. kojiro most likely used a 36”-37” blade this is closer to 47”
Sasaki Kojirō samourai used nodachi
One arrow.

Good point on the forest place for a padjuan but perhaps it's good for master of the prance dance at this point in his progressional path.
this comment is so fucking lame
Do they really swing the nodachi with one hand or is this some modern flashy stuff?
magara naoitaka who was famous for using a 7ft long nodachi utilized one hand crowd control swings from horseback
@@TONEDEAFSOUND Must've been really lightweight.
@@secretagent4610 yeah i read somewhere that the total weight was only 10pounds

Длинный меч - это работа в поле. В лесу, в доме, крепости, в массовом сражении это невозможно. Вы будете убиты. Но техника красивая.

Haha, another grandmaster of his own bullshido. Fyi: Nodachi were used on horseback. So much for your knowledge of Japanese history.
they also were used in crowds on the ground???
