@@genghiskhan6809 It's a nodachi. It has a very long handle for a nodachi, but it's not long enough to be a nagamaki. A nagamaki handle must take up at least half of the overall length, a nodachi handle usually takes up a 5th to a 3rd of the overall length.
It really is cool to see Ben go from contestant to two-time champion, to judge. It really says a lot about both his skill as a smith and his reputation in the industry for them to ask him to be a judge.
True, but most swords have special undulation points on the blade so that all of those vibrations dissipate before they travel up your arm. I'm pretty sure it should be where the center of balance is for most conventional longswords, but I might be wrong.
Well most of the time you'll only see it in slow motion. Also it wobbling like that shows how flexible it is so if anything the sword will develop a warp or bend instead of breaking and flying off
@@skumm420 や isn't incorrect, but it's a trickier particle. や and と(the particle that'd sound better here) are similar, but the difference is that や is used when you're listing some examples and not the complete list while と means that what you're listing is complete. That was a very close one. Both weapons performed very well. It's just those protruding pins and the damage in the strength test that made the difference.
For having watched a coupled of theses videos, basically you get to loose either because your blade snap or because of the handle. Take time to work on the handle too.
Watching Dave did his work, both here and the previous episode, was such an enjoyable experience. The way he does things is a good example for newbies to emulate. He also made a small joke about... dainty hands. Hahaha. That cane out if no where.

Easily a close competition, but the subtle difference in handling between the grips of the two blades probably tipped the scales. Comfort and handling are essential in any tool that one uses.
