- Hy there, welcome to my sunset crazy hair edition of 8 practical tips on how to become better at being a manual QA for anyone that has just started in qa career or for anyone wanting to improve. These are some tips I piled up on what would have helped me a lot when I was coming up and just learning things, so I am making this to my younger self out there that one day will become the chosen one as a remote QA Engineer. Whats the most fun part of testing for you?
Long-time QA Analyst here. Another resource to use is your project's Support team. They likely have more contact with the customer and the issues they report than anyone else.

Can you suggest a good course that I can take to get a complete understanding of QA? I dont have any formal Software Engineer or CS education or Coding experience btw.
That’s great that you are learning it, it will definitely helio you be a better manager when you understand how stuff works. I will only suggest my own stuff as I can’t vouch for anyone else’s since I have not gone through them haha.

I am a big fan of hands on type experience and knowledge learning. I dive deep in my projects and i like to create a type of a doc or list of things I already see I could try to break basically or that i see are lacking from the whole testing metric base. This way - i have to learn to do new things or methods Ive never done and also the product gets better. This has been by far my favorite way on how I have gained amazing physical experience. Plus it keeps things fun.
Another way is I am working on my automation skills now more and more for the past few years, so that also is a new ocean to discover. Mainly for automation I use just googling my issues or their documentation from their sites no matter which tool/language i am using. That is usually pretty insightful!
For the physical experience I like to sort of learn how to swim on my own. I create these things I think need to get checked and then I try to figure out what is the best way to actually do it and if its even possible by mainly googling or thinking of how I could do it.

Huh, as far as I know QA people work in factories and physical products, didn't know software is included?
Oh for sure, software quality assurance is a whole thing! Imagine the app tour using now - it had the same quality assurance/testing done so no bugs would be discovered by users or disturbing them use the app. 🤓
