cmiiw, but so for affinity, with this set, you only get 100% on weak points only once the monster gets poisoned and bloodlust is activated, correct? Because it's 50 from WEX, 10 from weapon, and then 25 from bloodlust and then 20 from foray right?
Probably worth mentioning that this is a set for the special sheath playstyle. For the sacred sheath playstyle frostcraft 3 is a must (and evade extender would also be good)
Personally dont use frostcraft. Not because i think the skill is bad. I just dont have enough space to cram in both defiance free meal and recovery up without sacrificing space. Also frostcraft is only available to random qurious crafting rather than targeted if i am correct. If i get a really good frostcraft charm i may build it someday
Defiance, free meal, and recovery up are kinda useless skills though, doesnt increase damage. Longsword's niche is a bout counter and even evading with sacred sheathe. I dont typically take much dmg when using LS. But ive also played mh since freedom unite.
@@kdubz1898 I know but at the same time, I play support LS. Weird I know but it's mainly because I get hit so much that I find it necessary to heal. I guess it's due to playing the LS differently. I Just find myself being overly aggressive at times and lean in on that aggression more in hunts so the heals are more important than more damage. Whatever gets the hunt done at the end of the day

Also acts as a better indicator of enrage than agitator does because the effect kicks in immediately
I also wanna throw in Kaktus Himmel (Flespinas) as a viable weapon choice. It has an innate 20% affinity, allowing for about 4 less Crit Eye, has a good sliver of purple to lock with Prot. Polish, really good slots, and most importantly shines in Fire favorable matchups. Personally, it's been my go to LS, even in non-Fire matchups. I just think it's neat!
It's a beautiful weapon visually, has fire damage (which can be useful) AND poison damage (so basically the only thing It's bad against is Raths/Espinas), and has a funky name that's funny to say out loud Edit: oh, and it makes GREAT use of Foray for the poison
Here's a long one of a set I personally like to use Me personally? I opted for a defense-offense build taking advantage of the violet mizu longsword, making use of a crit eye 2, crit boost 1, 4-1-1 charm. The armor and weapons augments are as follows: Violet Mizu LS: All attack, you really don't need anything else. Unless you value sharpness, then have a mix of sharpness and attack augments Risen Kushala Glare: Any augment you want really, would recommend handicraft, however. Risen Kaiser Mail: Augment a single level 1 slot or better Virtue Braces: Augement your slots from a 3-1 to a 4-2-1, you may lose one level of bloodlust but you can just replace it with a bloodlust deco due to how negligible that trade off is. Virtue Coil: Augment a level 1 slot Ingot Greaves X: If possible Augement It from a 1-1 to a 2-1-1, any bad skills or downside you get will not matter that much, Although I ended up getting hellfire boost one and special ammo boost, which you obviously don't need but just a mention. for sacred sheathe playstyle i use frostcraft, no masters's touch and 1 point of heaven-sent, which sharpens your weapon when you swap scrolls, which i do anyway. on my red scroll i use sakura slash + special sheathe (i like iai counters after sakura slash), then swap to blue after i build up the gauge, swap scrolls (now i have sharpened my weapon), frostcraft fills up while i perform the sacred sheathe, and unleash it for devastating damage so i would drop master's touch, speed sharpening, defiance, even wind mantle. you have 10% base affinity, 20% from bloodlust, 50% from wex so you need 20% more, if you bring your cat you don't even need it. i would add some expert jewels or crit draw (ir affects all 3 hits of sacred sheathe combo), or even agitator. so kaiser head would be better imo you will need to roll 2 frostcraft as augment tho, which is a downside. or you can get it as charm if you pray to rng gods
The pure sword ichimonji (violet Mizu LS) is another viable LS build. 310 raw, 24 fire elemental damage, tons of purple sharpness, 10% affinity, 3 lvl 2 Dec slots. I use it fairly often!
i use the velkahna ls even against monsters who are not weak to ice because it regens frostcraft faster allowing me to do an extra 30% damage which is a higher buff than anything in the game.
Funny you mention that we need Build Up Boost 3 charm, I got one with 3-3 slots & 2 levels of Evade Window without trying when the update came out. Guess I'm building your set. XD
I use the Tigrex LS maxed out with attack augments and my tigrex reaches 410 raw with the augs but when in battle I can easily reach 640 with everything active. And my build is Max attack Max agitator Max resentment Crit eye 5 Max crit boost Max weakness exploit Max quick sheathe Max speed sharpening Max wirebug whisperer Max coalescence Bloodlust 2 levels Frenzy bloodlust 2 levels 1 level of wind mantle There’s more skills but that’s my endgame build that demolish monsters really fast But your build is really good too! Have you considered combining both Grinder S with protective polish? Being Tigrex LS has quite the low amount of sharpness so taking advantage of that is something that Grinder S would like. You would only need 2 levels of each to have 1 minute of boosted raw damage
My personal LS build takes advantage of Free meal, wide range and speed eating to become a heal bot for the team. I notice I usually take a lot of damage from hits and rather than try to mitigate that, I lean more into it to keep my party members topped up when they need it while also healing my own damage. For that reason, the fine Kamura rapier works better for me because it's pure raw. being pure raw means that I don't need skills like build up boost/foray to be fit into my build and can just focus on more utility based skills. It also helps that I play with AI members on so my demondrug/armor skin buffs actually affect them with lvl 5 wide range. I could probably even use Luchika at this point because of how much healing I am able to achieve but I find Minoto just useful for drawing aggro away
It's kinda weird how I always end up making a build that's completely different from all others. I spam the crap out of serene pose, I love that skill. I used harvest moon when it came out, despite all its flaws I tried to make it work. That is easier than ever now and my build got a massive buff. I'm also a huge fan of tempered spirit slash, allowing me to get gauge levels quickly while actually doing decent damage and without sacrificing my combo potential since it works in tandem with the spirit combo. (I think tempered spirit slash inside of harvest moon gets to a total of like 100 motion value, which is very high for how quick it is) Some people might say it costs a wirebug and is therefore less efficient than iai spirit slash, but with how quickly it recharges with one singular level of wind mantle, I'd strongly disagree. Even with 3 bugs I never really ran out of wirebugs to use for serene pose, now I can spam it like mad. My build is far from perfect at the moment, but with the amatsu weapon and one more good qurio craft I'll fit in frostcraft 3 with 100% crit rate on weak parts, and since I use no special sheathe I always have sacred sheathe ready for punishes. The damage is nuts already, but it's going to go much, much higher. I am waiting to fully qurio craft the amatsu LS before I switch over to it though, simply because I want to see the exact difference in damage once I do change over.
Made a similar build but focused on paralyzing. It is really fun to use and I usually get a decent amount of monster down time during hunts which is really helpful on high level anomaly investigations.
5:08 ok, but if you go the purple rout you have to run 3 levels of másters touch and with white you don’t, right? And every level 2 deco is roughly a 2% damage increase (aka agitator, attack books, foray, etc) which equals to 6% raw which is 515x.06%= 546(after round up) which is more than 535 which purple which you have to maintain instead of the very long white. I think the purple is best if you are going element since the multiplier also affects element or if you already max oit every other damage skill and the only one left in sharpness modifier. Correct me if my math is wrong.
not necessarily. if you were to drop 3 master's touch for say 3 agitator, agitator 3 is +12 attack and some affinity, but 12/515=2.33%, so each level 2 slot is only .78%, so not even a single percent damage increase. Attack boost 3 is only +9 attack, so that's going to be even less. we already get foray level 3 as well in the example set at 7:15. If you can't get attack 4 or higher or can't get foray 3, then those should have priority over handicraft and/or master's touch for sure! Definitely a good question, but yeah, white sharpness with all the attack skills and no sharpness skills is going to be better than purple sharpness with only sharpness skills and no attack skills of course. Hope that answers your question!
@@LordViettner oh lots of that makes sense, but you are adding the number you get per attack boost, not the percentage, for every attack boost you get 2%(except from level 4 to 5 which is only 1%) also yes in agitator you only get +12 attack at level 3 yes, but you can’t forget about the affinity which is 7%, which is around 3% increase over all(.40x.07=.028, so 3% since we have crit boost 3) so 12/515 is indeed 2.33% but you have to add the the 3% for the Crit, that is around 5% damage per 3 level 2 decos, that is why I said a level 2 deco is around 2% per slot(and if you take the agitator higher level you get more affinity and which translate to more damage). Am no saying in any way your set is wrong, I am just saying that white sharpness is not much more than white if you use those master’s touch slots efficiently towards damage, and the good rathian long sword having so much white helps maintains it through out a hunt even on monsters that doesn’t have good hitzones so you don’t depend on that master’s touch. I haven't played around with foray and gold rathian longsword but lucent narga LS has been my main weapon since it was realesed. And with title update 4&5 it got even better thanks to weapon augment slot upgrade giving extra sharpness and the addition of the wire bug rampage deco, (which I use instead of the anti wyvern jewel, I'm not sure if it's a good idea though, is it? ) TLDR : anti wyvern vs wirebug wrangler?
i love lucent narga, I still keep a build for it even tho it's not as good just bc i like the weapon so much! Anti wyvern is way better, constant +5% damage and wirebug wrangler doesn't work on the Frenzied Bloodlust wirebug ://
Poison has little to no effect on many of the dragons so a I prefer a dragon long sword build for end game because they are the hardest fights in the game. Also use a sword with a better sharpness I do have a better build but I need it. At the end of the day better fighting skills beats better builds. And you are a much better hunter then I am.
it's just on there bc of the velkhana chest. If you're going for max damage sacred sheathe combo the frostcraft is okay, but i wouldn't build specifically for frostcraft LS as far as top tier builds go. As a 'for fun' set up, it can work
Any armor recommendations for people hoping back in? I’m at MR 97 and trying to get my way up to the risen monsters. But I’m concerned my armor won’t hold up against them. Any armor that you know would? Or what’s the newest way to build up on armor spheres and money?
For money there's an event quest against a rajang in the Arena with a ton of eggs as a reward, just beware that there'll be a second monster that's randomized. What set are you currently using?
you could if you wanted, but heaven-sent is really expensive, so you can't ALWAYS fit in everything you want. it's a very good skills tho and if you wanted it you can for sure run it! I'd suggest level 2 then run grinder (s) to get an attack boost from the switch scroll swap sharpening
you can use just the legs. you just have to no get hit during 30 seconds, and then perfom a skill swap, you'll recover a lot of sharpness. Mixed with intrepid heart it's pretty easy to use. And with longsword it's pretty easy to avoid damage with all those counters.

no you cannot, you have to get it in the Vigor melding randomly. You can only target in Cyclus melding skills that exist as decorations, with a few exceptions
I hope consoles get a balance patch that adjusts harvest moon sometime soon before the TU5 content comes out. Harvest moon the way it was at launch sucks! The circle is way too small, if you get hit or do an iai spirit slash you can get launched towards the edge of the circle and lose harvest moon. The only monster i’m really comfortable using it against is Rajang and maybe a couple others, but other than that harvest moon sucks. It requires absolutely perfect play to take advantage of it
You didn't even mention Chameleos Longsword... (Lol!) I prefer it over all you mentioned... Granted, I don't actually poison, and don't use Build-up boost but my damage is still very good regardless, and I 100% Crit with every hit... it's slots, affinity, and sharpness allow me to have all I want, and then some... It's literally all I ever use... ever since base Rise, it has stood out and been a great weapon of choice...
chameleos LS isn't bad, but yeah since it's all I used in base rise there's so many better weapons that are more fun to use than the same exact thing i used for the last 700+ hours xD

Even with 3 bugs I never really ran out of wirebugs to use for serene pose, now I can spam it like mad. My build is far from perfect at the moment, but with the amatsu weapon and one more good qurio craft I'll fit in frostcraft 3 with 100% crit rate on weak parts, and since I use no special sheathe I always have sacred sheathe ready for punishes. The damage is nuts already, but it's going to go much, much higher. I am waiting to fully qurio craft the amatsu LS before I switch over to it though, simply because I want to see the exact difference in damage once I do change over.
Made a similar build but focused on paralyzing. It is really fun to use and I usually get a decent amount of monster down time during hunts which is really helpful on high level anomaly investigations.

I recently got a charm with chameloas blessing lvl 3 and handicraft lvl 2 and some slots on it . I think this will pair nicely.
5:08 ok, but if you go the purple rout you have to run 3 levels of másters touch and with white you don’t, right?
And every level 2 deco is roughly a 2% damage increase (aka agitator, attack books, foray, etc) which equals to 6% raw which is 515x.06%= 546(after round up) which is more than 535 which purple which you have to maintain instead of the very long white. I think the purple is best if you are going element since the multiplier also affects element or if you already max oit every other damage skill and the only one left in sharpness modifier.

not necessarily. if you were to drop 3 master's touch for say 3 agitator, agitator 3 is +12 attack and some affinity, but 12/515=2.33%, so each level 2 slot is only .78%, so not even a single percent damage increase. Attack boost 3 is only +9 attack, so that's going to be even less. we already get foray level 3 as well in the example set at 7:15. If you can't get attack 4 or higher or can't get foray 3, then those should have priority over handicraft and/or master's touch for sure!
Definitely a good question, but yeah, white sharpness with all the attack skills and no sharpness skills is going to be better than purple sharpness with only sharpness skills and no attack skills of course.

@@LordViettner oh lots of that makes sense, but you are adding the number you get per attack boost, not the percentage, for every attack boost you get 2%(except from level 4 to 5 which is only 1%) also yes in agitator you only get +12 attack at level 3 yes, but you can’t forget about the affinity which is 7%, which is around 3% increase over all(.40x.07=.028, so 3% since we have crit boost 3) so 12/515 is indeed 2.33% but you have to add the the 3% for the Crit, that is around 5% damage per 3 level 2 decos, that is why I said a level 2 deco is around 2% per slot(and if you take the agitator higher level you get more affinity and which translate to more damage).
Am no saying in any way your set is wrong, I am just saying that white sharpness is not much more than white if you use those master’s touch slots efficiently towards damage, and the good rathian long sword having so much white helps maintains it through out a hunt even on monsters that doesn’t have good hitzones so you don’t depend on that master’s touch. That is why I think purple shines lots more on elemental builds since it gives a multiplier for element as well.

I haven't played around with foray and gold rathian longsword but lucent narga LS has been my main weapon since it was realesed.
And with title update 4&5 it got even better thanks to weapon augment slot upgrade giving extra sharpness and the addition of the wire bug rampage deco, (which I use instead of the anti wyvern jewel, I'm not sure if it's a good idea though, is it? )

i love lucent narga, I still keep a build for it even tho it's not as good just bc i like the weapon so much! Anti wyvern is way better, constant +5% damage and wirebug wrangler doesn't work on the Frenzied Bloodlust wirebug ://

flaming espinas LS is definitely viable!
Poison has little to no effect on many of the dragons so a I prefer a dragon long sword build for end game because they are the hardest fights in the game. Also use a sword with a better sharpness I do have a better build but I need it. At the end of the day better fighting skills beats better builds. And you are a much better hunter then I am.
I just realize you build only has 1 level of Frostcraft. Is that really fine, isn't it one the most ways LS gets high DPS?
it's just on there bc of the velkhana chest. If you're going for max damage sacred sheathe combo the frostcraft is okay, but i wouldn't build specifically for frostcraft LS as far as top tier builds go. As a 'for fun' set up, it can work
Any armor recommendations for people hoping back in? I’m at MR 97 and trying to get my way up to the risen monsters. But I’m concerned my armor won’t hold up against them. Any armor that you know would? Or what’s the newest way to build up on armor spheres and money?
For money there's an event quest against a rajang in the Arena with a ton of eggs as a reward, just beware that there'll be a second monster that's randomized.
What set are you currently using?
Why not try for Heaven sent instead of Masters touch? That would really reduce the sharpening worries.
you could if you wanted, but heaven-sent is really expensive, so you can't ALWAYS fit in everything you want. it's a very good skills tho and if you wanted it you can for sure run it! I'd suggest level 2 then run grinder (s) to get an attack boost from the switch scroll swap sharpening
@@LordViettner Nice. Yea, you're right though. It is expensive to get. Hopefully it will be easier in the next update.
you can use just the legs. you just have to no get hit during 30 seconds, and then perfom a skill swap, you'll recover a lot of sharpness. Mixed with intrepid heart it's pretty easy to use. And with longsword it's pretty easy to avoid damage with all those counters.

no you cannot, you have to get it in the Vigor melding randomly. You can only target in Cyclus melding skills that exist as decorations, with a few exceptions

I hope consoles get a balance patch that adjusts harvest moon sometime soon before the TU5 content comes out. Harvest moon the way it was at launch sucks! The circle is way too small, if you get hit or do an iai spirit slash you can get launched towards the edge of the circle and lose harvest moon. The only monster i’m really comfortable using it against is Rajang and maybe a couple others, but other than that harvest moon sucks. It requires absolutely perfect play to take advantage of it
yeah it was awful at launch until the TU5 changes. kinda surprised it didn’t launch like that on console

I prefer it over all you mentioned... Granted, I don't actually poison, and don't use Build-up boost but my damage is still very good regardless, and I 100% Crit with every hit... it's slots, affinity, and sharpness allow me to have all I want, and then some... It's literally all I ever use... ever since base Rise, it has stood out and been a great weapon of choice...
chameleos LS isn't bad, but yeah since it's all I used in base rise there's so many better weapons that are more fun to use than the same exact thing i used for the last 700+ hours xD
