    In 2017 Dave Rubin was asked which moment had the highest impact in changing his mind on politics throughout his career at the rubin report. His answer was, when Larry Elder challenged him on systemic racism. This clips shows this moment from Jan. 2016.

      Rubin Report has come a long way. :) His sincere question and answers with people from both parties is why, if I have liberal friends, I tell them to watch his stuff. Inoculates them from becoming idiotic far left anarchists. Thank you Dave. :)

      James Tyler The far left doesn't lead to anarchy, it's socialists. Anarchists actually lean right at this point in history, if they understand what anarchy is (an absence of rulers), because at least for now the right is about preserving freedoms and demanding personal responsibility instead of collective responsibility. The rest of your post is good. Rubin is a good way to introduce leftists to conservatives without beating them over the head with a Ben Shapiro logic stick that they won't understand and will therefore ignore.

      Elder very generously gave Rubin an opportunity to make his case. We conservatives are always falsely accused of wanting to "silence" people, when in reality the opposite is the case. We want them to take responsibility for stating exactly what their data and logic lead them to believe and assert. And then we can put these ideas to the test and see if they can stand up to scrutiny.

  • @jamesreynolds8419

    Rubin deserves some major respect for being so open minded and fair. Regardless on if he was right or wrong, he listened to what the opposition had to say, pondered it, then considered applying new information to his worldview. Most people from either end of the political spectrum are unwilling to do this. Mad respect

    • @TalentSpotter83
      @TalentSpotter83 6 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Not really, he comes across as supine, intellectually shallow and even a bit obseqious. If he were smart, he'd have gone away and done further research and listened to both sides of the argument *fully* before making an informed decision. The way he changed his mind so quickly gives the impression he's probably fickle and indecisive and likes to change his mind often. Watch him on Joe Rogan, he was laughable.

      If liberals (or at least what passes for a liberal in 2018) went out, did research, listened to both sides and made an informed decision, then CNN & MSNBC would have gone bankrupt. I don’t think most of today’s liberals could survive such a traumatic experience...information...both sides...that’s crazy-talk...
      You expect a white male liberal to refute a black man? Of course you do, because he is arguing that systemic racism isn’t the biggest issue in the black community. Lol.

      Bobby B bullshit, Larry don't stay in the south. If he lived in Alabama during my mother's time. He would know better but it's sad he don't. Larry talks so much shit. His day is coming. That kid didn't have a chance. That kid was shot down. Rice was rolled up on. Larry is talking to a dummy. White women benefit more from affirmative action. Larry should know better. When, no fathers are in homes. Have Larry heard that some child support judges, do more damage to black men. Welfare more white benefit from welfare. The wealthy benefit off some form of welfare. Larry got his nose so far Republicans ass so he can get ahead. All this game playing to be successful. He grew up in the 60s 😂what a joke. I wished you were in Mississippi or Alabama. Maybe you wouldn't have been born. Maybe the police would have hung his dad or something or beat his mother, raped her. Dick Gregory said this once... "it was so easy for people to stay up north and talk shit! I was there! I know what those white people will do to you! They will kill you!" (Dick was shot will marching for human rights) Larry has never stood for anything other than bashing his own. When wrong is being done, it's the black man or women fault for being black, raped, beaten, hung, shot in America. That's Larry's way of thinking.

      Yes the great Reverend Dr. MLK jr. Spoke greatly of a better future for his brethren, but also at the same time said racist things against white people, and I understand his anger, if anything, hearing him speak his anger as well as his love shows his capacity to preach the better one, and keep the harsh words behind closed doors. Wiretap recordings showed a flawed man preaching love, which is why people can relate to him deeply. Larry Elder's conservative philosophy on life is similar to Nietzsche's overman of overcoming the strife of one's self issues. forged in fire, coming out stronger. That type of mentality builds the strongest framework for a man's mind. for the happiest work/love/life balance. Responsibility and holding up to those promises build the type of person you want to be. and that rings true for any merit based system built with freedom of thought as a core tenet.

      Jason Richardson I was 1 of those also brother. I’d still never call myself a Republican or conservative but I’ll still be friends with 1 depending on that individual and embarrassing as it has been for me to admit if I want the truth about anything from why someone got shot, if a certain politician no matter the party is good or bad, if a certain popo is a racist or not or on why our society is the way it is now I mostly only trust those like these 2 men. When I was younger I wouldn’t have really listened to what they said and just assumed they were liars that probably grew up wealthy and luckier than me and shielded from a lot of the bullshit some of us had to suffer through and witness while most the so called adults responsible for our bad childhood blamed the system or racism for the outcome of their choices. Some of us got a fucked start but a lot of it wasn’t the system it was our elders who usually had it worse than us but with less knowledge than we’ve been given especially with technology now and we are way worse people than our parents were if we continue this cycle but to many now don’t want to admit it and not take the easier victim route.

      Steven Morahan this is true; however, what should be the focus is the black family structure. Or the family structure period for that matter.
      One thing he didn’t speak on- and many don’t-are the Willie Lynch Letters that unfortunately set the stage for this behavior. You should take a look at Larry's second appearance on the Rubin Report. Dave details that his perspective on the matter changed when Larry challenged him in this episode. He frequently has people like Larry on his show that challenge his beliefs and perceptions and is not afraid to admit when a guest has changed his mind or forced him to look further into an issue that, as you say, he is "unprepared" to discuss.
      That's a quality to be respected in my opinion.

      No One It's not pushing your own agenda. It's forcing them to consider their opinions on topics. If you just allow someone to move on after their reasoning has been refuted then you won't change their mind. By forcing them to dwell on it you force them to make a change

    • @JT-sq3sn
      @JT-sq3sn 7 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      No One Not really. It is forcing people to consider their own opinions PAINFULLY hard and honestly. People will avoid questioning their own convictions because this is uncomfortable. They will try to move to another topic. You have to stop them. It is not only for their benefit to face discomfort but it is mostly for the benefit of anyone who listens and feels that they havent really got to the bottom of an issue because the interviewer was allowed to swiftly move on. Yoh dont want the conversation to be shallow. Exploring a topic takes time and effort and this must be seen in a conversation. Conversations in the 21st century are like fast food - quick and insubstantial. You dont get to the bottom of the matter in a short time and skipping on the surface of a problem!

      Luke Wykman lol not really. Most liberals are not willing to have a discussion. Why? Because the Left has shifted to identity politics, and social justice. Which means, to even have these discussions is an act of racism. They have a very clear line drawn in the sand of what is moral and wrong. You are either with us, or against us. I have seen so many Liberals who call Larry Elders a racist. And to even sit down and have a conversation with him, would be to give a racist a platform to spread his hate.
      That is pretty much the doctrine for most liberals today. This idea of “preventing” things. Which is why so many liberal youth, are turning towards Marxism/ and censorship. This idea of safe spaces, trigger warnings. It’s all about “prevention” of bad things from ever happening. And this is counterintuitive to having these discussions. Because they dont even want these discussions to be had (since the very act of talking about these things, is an act of racism or oppression).

      The reason De facto terrorists groups, aka Antifa, are used is directly because of this fact; through rational discussion, sane liberals are waking up to the regressive left's bullshit. In so doing, they dissent to the only other option (based on the false left/right dichotomy).
      Therefore the left, like a panicking cornered animal, is desperately trying to close their leaking reservoir of dissenters by shutting down said open discussions all together - even if it hurts them.

      Oh how about the facts that Larry Elder didn't say. For example, Larry Elder continues to claim that there is no systemic racism right? This is why these shows are a waste of time. You pick a guy that doesn't know about systemic racism and pick Larry Elder that is a denier of the systemic racism. For example, he used the police right? Why didn't he talk about the holder study where it clearly showed that the police were violating black people's 4, 5, and 14 Amendment rights to close a budgetary shortfall charging innocent people with crimes they didn't commit? Why did he not bring up Jena 6 or the police officers that arrested a black man in McDonalds after he was attacked by 5 white men because they didn't want him dating a white woman? Why didn't he bring up the man who was sitting waiting for his kids, and got arrested while doing so? Why did he not bring up that 20/20 did a study and showed nationwide black people are 95% more likely to be pulled over by the police than white people and that black people who are not even driving are required to prove who they are. Can you explain that? Larry Elder is a shill and we know it.

      Respectfully, incidents of racism as abhorrent as they are does not mean systemic racism. Your conflating the two . Just like climate change does not mean weather . Mr Elder is discussing two very different situations .

    • @Ryooken
      @Ryooken 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We are not talking about individual incidents stemming from private citizens in and of themselves. We are talking about the violation of the Constitution when those that represent the law either through deliberate action or simply failing to apply the law due to racial bias engage in behavior that violate the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
      We are talking about those in positions of authority engage in propaganda to sway public opinion to enforce racial bias that allow the changes to the laws that are harmful to the people of color. This is the current state of affairs and that has not changed. Larry Elder knows what systemic racism is but he is paid to say otherwise. We all know what oppression is. Most Europeans descended from people who fled oppression and don't need to be told what happens when the government mistreats their people at the behest of those in positions of power. We know the country was founded on racism white supremacy, that's not even a debate unless you are going to say that the founding fathers lied when they said what they were doing. So it would be odd that within the last 45 years that a country so founded would suddenly change and you still see examples of abuse and oppression.
      For example, the largest beneficiaries of welfare are white people and black people were prevented from getting welfare until 1968. However, the anger engineered by the media of black welfare queens has been going on for 4 decades. 2 of those decades welfare to work was in place where you have the working poor. Now look at the history from 1968 to now.
      White people who objected to blacks getting welfare despite paying into the system, created stipulations for black people as to what, and how that welfare could be obtained and or used. These same people were punished for using a system that was supposed to help them work their way out of welfare into a better life. Instead you had massive propaganda by the same people that didn't want black people to have welfare and that culminated in the welfare to work program. These same people only wanted the solution where welfare goes away and only white people would get welfare and you say there is no systemic racism. Just like you claiming global warming and climate change are two different things, instead of addressing the root cause that our actions are making the planet hotter and we are getting extreme weather because of it, which has fueled our last few decades of natural disasters.
      It's called the scientific principle of cause and effect. You guys love to argue the effect while ignoring the cause. Now the other guy is just as guilty do you want to know why? Because people that call themselves liberals are benefiting from oppression too. So, they make weak arguments, not truly understanding the scope of the problem giving guys like Elder a platform to promote this racist agenda. So white people can use Elder's comments as a way to shout down anyone that can show the legitimacy of systemic racism which is the only form of racism there is. Everything else is bigotry and prejudice. Without the power to act, there can be no racism.

    • @reyg7028
      @reyg7028 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Ryooken
      Respectfully Sir
      Yes we are talking about individual acts which have occurred. Even if they are engaged in public service and are representatives of the state . Although the state can be held liable for the actions of their agents . It does not show institutional racism or bias .
      Unless you have proof of an underlying agenda that is intentionally seeking to violate the Individual civil rights of people it is by its definition not systematic. Where is your evidence? Show me the agency that in the United States that has stated that they want to suppress the Constitutional rights of the people in the 21st century in America ,and I will be happy to fight it together with you . Shoulder to shoulder and side by side.
      You make a claim that “We are talking about people In a “position of Authority “ who use propaganda to sway public opinion to enforce racial bias that allow changes to the law that are harmful to people of color. “
      Which is an opinion you state as a fact .Without ever backing up the claim with any evidence of any kind .
      Which people ? What authority?
      Which laws ?
      Are there some people who are prejudiced against blacks , Hispanics like myself or Asians . Yes of course.
      There are always gonna be outliers and assholes who are like that .
      But to state they’re in power is disingenuous at best .
      As far as my comparison to Climate and weather they are two disparate things. Regardless of the cause and effect of climate changes .which is why I used the comparison.
      Welfare has done more to destroy families since the 1960s than any other racist program ever with the possible exception of abortion. ( Founded by a racist to control the American Black population.by Margret Sanger .
      “Knowledge of birth control is essentially moral. Its general, though prudent, practice must lead to a higher individuality and ultimately to a cleaner race... How are we to breed a race of human thoroughbreds unless we follow the same plan? We must make this country into a garden of children instead of a disorderly back lot overrun with human weeds.”)
      The word “CONTROL “ is in the name of the program.
      Oh and your right . One party Has systematically repressed and suppresd blacks by racism violence, control and murder.
      They are called Democrats.
      They are the racists of American politics along with the useful idiots communist and socialists .
      President Lyndon Johnson just found and easy way to get the African Americans to follow the Party which has been keeping them down since the first slave ships dropped anchor in North America.
      When he realized that he could bribe the African Americans whom they had spent the last 100 Years suppressing . He said “These Negroes, they're getting pretty uppity these days and that's a problem for us since they've got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we've got to do something about this, we've got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference.”
      And also is quoted as saying.
      “ I’ll have these
      N*ggers voting Democratic for 200 Years . “
      Congratulations, this is the welfare state that you are arguing for . Good job.
      Do you actually think that Hillary Clinton from Illinois actually carries hot sauce in her bag and only “ casually mentioned it on a black radio station? Really?
      And that her mentor Senator Robert ( Grand Wizard ) Bird changed his tune or hers ????
      Yes there is propaganda being used in order to keep Black people marginalized.
      It’s being used by the DNC and has been for a long long time sir.
      You seem extremely intelligent and are obviously well spoken.
      Take the Red pill and see what Morpheus ( Elder) is talking about. If you need to see a true example of systemic Racism looks like . It looks like the failed policies of Democratic Controlled Cities , with failed schools , social programs all controlled by the socialist teachers unions and leftist political hacks and the useful idiots of the socialists and collectivists who are the true oppressors of the communities who own you and your votes .

      30 kills pffhahaha! Are you so unoriginal you could only resort to "me big, you soyboy." Fucking dumbass, tell me, how hard is it for you think past twelve seconds? Also, snowflake coming from someone like you? The irony would be hilarious if it wasn't so tragic people like you vote.
      P.s. you do realize you can't do shit to me right? So the tough guy act makes you look pathetic (you fucking walking cliche), only thing that would complete it is if you looked nothing like that picture 😂😂😂

    • @gotrac8121
      @gotrac8121 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      30 kills you confuse humor with fear, not surprised coming from you (emotions are hard to differentiate). Also are you so dumb you can't understand when you use threatening language (what am I saying of course you are). But hmmm better gentics than me, something tells me to be highly skeptical of that 😂.
      And no I'm "triggered" (honestly do you have a vocabulary past 2016), because Larry is a disingenuous prick, nothing more nothing less. Also, it's good that you can think hard enough to answer at least something (to bad it was one I cared least about), so maybe you can answer this, you do know that soy products are better for you than animal products right? But I'm sure you didn't, and instead of engaging with what I said you'll beat on your chest as if that means something 😂😑

    What I love about Dave is that in the years since, he’s talked about how the production team knew he got mopped up and said “it’s ok, we’ll cut that out” and he said “no. We’re going to leave it in. Just because it’s different or better, doesn’t mean we cut it”

    To an outsider living in Europe, the whole "racism" thing in the US seems so weird.
    I have a feeling that a prime reason for the debate being kept alive might be that certain groups (SJW-types among others) _keep on talking about it_ for purely political reasons.

    • @christianlibertarian5488
      @christianlibertarian5488 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Racism was severe in the US before 1970. This was the afterglow of the Civil War, which hadn't really been resolved 100 years after its end. So Mr. Elder is right, that "systemic" racism may be minimal, but cultural memories, of both blacks and whites, persist. It has not even been two generations since Jim Crow.

    • @arnoldthomsen6571

      I would say racism was severe *some* places in the US before 1970. Other places it wasn't as bad. Walter Williams, for example, talks about the culture shock of going from Philadelphia to the south after he joined the Army. So even in the mid-1950s, there were places in the north and east where racism wasn't nearly the issue it still was in the south. Not to say it didn't exist in the north, but it was not so extreme and not pervasive, so much easier to work around.
      If racism had been as bad nationwide as it was in the South, Robert Heinlein would not have been able to sell novels with black secondary characters or biracial marriage, which he certainly did (Tunnel in the Sky, published in 1955, or Podkayne of Mars in 1963, for instance). Not to say Heinlein's attitudes were typical, because they were not -- but they were certainly tolerated, and he was widely read and popular -- he is one of the Big Three when it comes to science fiction authors of the second half of the 20th century (the other two being Isaac Asimov and Arthur C. Clarke).

      Arnold Thomsen: You clearly have been listening to some Southern revisionists. They claim the South revolted to preserve their "rights", and claim that as a "States' Rights" position. But one then must ask, what rights are we talking about? The response was always, "Our rights in property." One would then ask, "What property are we referring to?" The response was always, "Our Peculiar Institution (slavery)". The claim that the war was not about slavery is bogus.

      Shalom: Were you alive in the 1960's? I was. I lived in suburban Detroit.The city of Detroit emptied of white people around that time. The primary reason was racism. This was not a secret, and was in fact openly discussed. I was told, as a seven year old, that when blacks moved in, property values dropped. I had no idea what property values were when I was seven, but I got the idea it was bad. My parents and surrounding adults supported George Wallace, the proclaimer of, "Segregation forever!"

      Tyler Potts I'm working in a school district thats really trying to see what we can do better to promote the success of blacks and Latinos as those are the minorities in our demographic. Sometimes people point out that minorities have scholarships tailored just for them, that universities and colleges are prioritizing them...for my learning what would you say is systematically wrong with public education that we need to be aware of as far as how it contributes to the lack of opportunities for minorities? I do believe there are times where teachers hold lower standards for minorities, but that's a person issue not a systemic one.

    Oh how I agree with Larry Elder about the #1 problem in the US. Its not immigration, its not the deficit, its not Donald Trump. #1problem is absent Dads. By far. No problem can be addressed without this problem being resolved.

    • @jonanderson5137
      @jonanderson5137 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is no #1, slippery slope isn't a fallacy. Education system, family, culture and a plethora of other things have lead to our current state. Kids need fathers that have fathers, even now if some men were fathers, they'd be going at it blindly like virgins having sex after watching porn. Sure you'll figure it out but trying to stick your thumb up a womans ass and learning too late how to apply disciple have vastly different consequences.

    • @christianlibertarian5488

      Life form: I whole heartedly disagree. Immigration is not ANY problem at all. The number of immigrants total is simply not enough to make major economic changes. Remember also that the US has a net loss of Mexicans since the Great Recession.

    • @christianlibertarian5488
      @christianlibertarian5488 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Life form: The basis of Libertarianism is that everyone should be free to do whatever they want, unless it impinges on the rights of others. "Rights" are defined as one thing: everyone has a right to their own person, and a right to the products of their own effort. Nowhere in that equation is there an ability to exclude some other human from anywhere except one's personal property.
      BTW, the demographics of the US are heavily dependent on immigrants. The US population would be shrinking, as it is in Japan and Europe, with immigration. Those inflows of workers are the ones who are going to support Social Security in the next 50 years. Without them, SS will be bankrupt.

    • @cheshirelizzy

      Insignificant Life form I don't think the country will be overrun by Mexicans. it will be overrun..but by those who've overrun Europe.

    • @christianlibertarian5488
      @christianlibertarian5488 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Life: It is almost impossible for immigrants to the US not to adopt the ways of Americans. That is because of the very, very attractive nature of life in the US as a law abiding citizen. Drug cartels can function in places with low investment in society, where crime can seem to pay. But once there is a way open to wealth with honest toil, criminal activity loses. Already, street corner drug dealers make less than minimum wage.

    Larry Elder is an intellect truly worthy of his surname. If only more black Americans would listen to this man without disqualifying his view points because it doesn't fit the victim mentality.
    Learn history, folks. Study and read Dr. King's infamous words. He wanted meritocracy (meaning: You're judged by what you do), not to point fingers at others and demand free stuff. That wasn't his dream AT ALL... In fact, were he alive today, he'd be absolutely disgusted with the regression going on in black culture, but may find solace in the fact that strong black men like Mr. Elder are carrying his dream forward.
