    It's a decent solution. I purchased four of them. I have them mounted in IBC cages that I cut down to 3/4 height. The cages are very light and work great to protect the tanks and hoses. I stack them onto each other and save a lot of space. I also don't ground them and I store mine indoors. However, mine are all filled with diesel.

    I have a 15 gallon tank that is similar. I welded a 3/4 pipe collar on the end and use a 3/4 fuel hose with the nozzle. I use mine for diesel. Also I have been using Stabil marine for years now. It takes less to treat gas. Farmers in my area have been using it for all their gasoline pump motors for years with no trouble that sold it for me. Good job on your video.

      Those are great tips! Thanks. I would love to add a pump to mine. The slow gravity feed seems to be the only drawback. 😁👍

      Yea it was slow with the factory hose,that is why I put the 3/4 hose with a shut off valve. It sped up the flow enough to live with it

    I recommend using quick connectors and ball valves at either end for your tank and hose, thus avoiding and accidental hose damage during transport and placement as you can easily remove an leave the hose in a safe place reducing Wear. Might also make for a cool informative short for your viewers interested in this product.

    • @samsdoinstuff

      That is a wonderful idea! The hoses are clearly the most vulnerable part. Thank you!!!

    for the same cost, i got a vevor wheeled 30 gallon with hand crank pump 201 stainless steel tank. i looked at this one as tractor supply has it but, a lawn mower can take 5 gallons or close to and with 3 mowers this thing wouldn't save any trips to the gas station BUT, it is smaller! you could use it to replace 3 gas cans!

    • @samsdoinstuff
      @samsdoinstuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am having to refill these more often than I'd like. I'll look into the Vevor you mentioned. The gravity fed nozzle is also pretty slow. Other than that, they're still working just fine 👍 Thank you for the suggestion!!!

    If you find a spring that will fit over the hose it will keep it from crimping, the spring makes it hold its shape. Some water hoses you buy have them on it.

    • @samsdoinstuff
      @samsdoinstuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I ended up using 1" plastic cable wrap. Works perfectly. I thought about the spring but it would be difficult to get on the hose. Great minds think alike 😉

    I'm thinking about purchasing one of these for the back of my 2019 Ram 1500 that's a gasser. Pulling an RV trailer, I basically see 9 mpg so I have to fuel up every 200 miles - would be nice to have a little piece of mind and some extra fuel along and could easily top off while taking a break. most likely end up permanently mounting it bed so that ought to take care of any grounding issues.

    Avoid the hazardous practice of leaving the portable gasoline containers in pickup trucks or cars when refueling!
    Before filling, always remove the containers from the vehicle and place them on the ground at a safe distance from the vehicle (provides path to dissipate static charge to ground).
    Touch the container with the gas dispenser nozzle before removing the container lid (provides another path to dissipate static charge to ground).
    Keep the nozzle in contact with the container inlet when filling (to dissipate static charge buildup from flow of gasoline).

    Subscribed! Awesome video! Now, I hate to be one of those "people" but in this case I think it is important? The PTFE tape (thread sealer) used in the video for the pipe fittings appeared to be white in color? PTFE tape has different types/colors for specific applications. Whenever we do piping for petroleum applications a yellow tape is used. The color allows the pipe fitter and the inspector to easily make sure the correct tape is on every union.
    The grounding wire may or may not be an issue for users of this tank. As long as you never get in a situation where static electricity and ground potential(s) rear their ugly head and strike? Since this tank is metal and most larger vehicles have metal tanks and/or filler tubes, the chance for an issue or problem is greatly increased. The ground wire in the box was put there because our wonderful government regulators ( and JohnDow's lawyers Lol) made them.
    Rather than compose a fact sheet here ( It would make War and Peace seem like a short story Lol ) about the correct uses and installations of said wire, I would refer anyone with an interest and spare time ( Lots of it ) to a Google search. Personally, I would be more comfortable working 8 hours in an oil refinery with a lit cigarette constantly in my mouth than not knowing if my tank setup and the way I am using it had the ability to create a small thermobaric or "Poor mans Atom bomb" .
    Your videos are great and easy to follow. I hope to see a lot more in the future? I also feel like a total a$$ho!e for mentioning the stuff above and rarely act like a safety geek on any video in the comments. I have personally seen the end results of fuel and static electricity though, and mixed in with careless idiots that are oblivious to anything other than the screen on their phone and the next Facebook post, you have the next winner of a Darwin award.

      Thank you so much for all the information and welcome to the channel!!! You will never ruffle my feathers by giving safety advice. As a matter of fact, on MY channel, I actually encourage it. The only way we learn is by teaching each other whether it's me teaching my viewers, or the other way around. Other people will also read your comments and learn something too! I really appreciate the comment 😁👍

    I've read some negative reviews on this tank. The reviews all point to paint dissolving inside the tanks over time and or rust particles contaminating the fuel stored inside. For these reasons, I went with a blow molded plastic gas caddy. I like the look of these metal cans, but am not taking chances with contaminated fuel.
