      She should not be is not "struggling" to BE an Actor; plus she has a steady job.
      If they quit their day job they might be struggling financially, and if they had an acting job, it might over-all pay less than the day job they had.
      SHE IS AN ACTOR
      Statistics say that most Actors do not have stable employment and only about 5% are considered "Successful Actors".
      I once had an "Aspiring Actor" sign in my back window. Someone at a Gas Station opened my eyes years ago.

    Thought I'd give some advice here so I spoke to my friend who is a UK actor who has done it for 19 years, he is really quite successful and who I have worked with as a production assistant several times. Here are his 3 tips....
    1) Get some professional training.
    Even if your the best natural actor in the world this shows your dedicated and will hone those skills. It will also teach you certain phrases you will hear on set and then you won't have to ask what they mean.
    2) DO NOT under any circumstances mention social media in an audition. Casting directors hate it. They don't care how many followers you have and if you share everything on social media they may not want to let you see the script or be around any big names.
    3) Be realistic and manage your expectations. Your never guaranteed your next acting role. 97% of actors either work or have worked regular jobs. Even some bigger names go back to regular jobs, you just don't hear about it much. Their not all as rich as you might think. Sometimes a big film might not pay much but it could lead to a commercial that pays more than you can imagine. You may be surprised what roles earn you bigger money....In this industry you've 'made it' if your getting a paycheck.

    Keep going. Im getting my training right now I’m college and I’ve been fortunate enough to have a professor that really helps me out a ton in acting and because of him I’ve been getting some really good auditioning material and technique. If you feel it in your heart you should do it. Go for it! I don’t care if I never become rich or famous. I just want to act and keep auditioning because I know ONE day I’m going to get work. All it takes is one good day.

      That's awesome that you've found a mentor! I don't necessarily care about being rich or famous. I care about making this my main source of income. I feel like I don't hear people talk enough about how exhausting it is to try and balance day jobs with auditions, training, a social life, rest, more training, traveling, and just having a well rounded life. That's my biggest struggle. Not getting burned out by the grind of it all.

Basically I’m 14 yrs old I have ALWAYS been obsessed with the world of acting and I want to do it so bad. But I have a few problems. I don’t have the money to be getting agents or any of that. I also don’t feel I’m good at it. A lot of people I know say I am very good at masking the art. I even used to make ads and perform them to my family. And also I jsut really don’t know where to get started. I don’t want to be in small tv shows or anything like that. I want to be in shows on like Netflix or Disney+ or Hulu ect. Also my parents aren’t exactly on board with it ether. My dad thinks the idea is a great opportunity and thinks I have a lot of potential in it. But my mom doesn’t want it I don’t think. But I really really am passionate about it. Can anyone give me any tips?

      It's truly never too late! Look at the shows and movies that you watch. They have infant actors all the way up to elderly actors. I made a video on how to get started here: th-cam.com/video/m4OTVFs66CY/w-d-xo.html.

    I can’t decide whether I want to move to NY or LA I love both places when I visit. I’m loving that I don’t need a car in NY. But people are always saying it’s only theatre in NY and I just don’t think that’s true - do you have any insight on job opportunities in NY for acting?

    • @KyonneSmith
      @KyonneSmith  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It’s definitely not only theater! There are so many shows that shoot in nyc. All of the law orders, FBI’s, Flatbush misdemeanors and so much more. I have a whole list of shows in a spreadsheet that I’d be a good fit for and that shoot in nyc. Do a bit of research and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Also I know plenty of people who have been flown to LA for shows. If you’re right for the part they’ll make sure you get it!

      Try Atlanta. Most big budget projects are getting made there these days because it is cheaper, they have new talent agencies popping up there to cater for the demand because it is a new relatively location for making movies the competition is lower.

      My advice would be to do some research on the different acting techniques. From there pick up a book, and take some classes. Learn everything that you can and be consistent.

    I'm trying to be an actor since 14 can you give some advice please?

    • @KyonneSmith
      @KyonneSmith  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes! The first step is to learn how to act. Take classes whenever you can and read books about acting(the craft and also the business side of things). I personally really love Uta Hagen's "A Challenge For The Actor." It was the first acting book I ever read. Also read Anthony Abeson's book, and Jen Fischer's book. TH-cam is also a good source for voice/speech exercises, learning dialects, scene study, etc. Learn monologues and record them. Watch them and critique yourself and keep practicing!!!
