GPX got a few good reviews for being decently priced and demand went up and they increased their prices so hight thats its better to stick with the name brands. Awesome video, appreciate the honest review.

'19 GPX TSE250R owner. During ownership, I purchased brand new a ktm 500 2022 model. Guess what bike I kept... the chinese POS as many claim. I've ridden the hell out of this bike, my father in law has ridden the hell out of this bike. Zero issues.
I've heard many having fuel injection issues with the 450, i'd stay away from it.

Thanks for a really balanced and fair-minded review. You didn't rant. Instead, your comments were more than reasonable, and it sounds like you've also been very patient. It was an excellent account of your experience with the issues on the bike. Incidentally, a bill for the missing engine parts is outrageous. Who'd want to do business with a bike shop like that? For my part, I was looking at buying a GPX, but I'll definitely pass now! Instead, I'm going to do as you suggested: get a used European/Japanese bike!

I was seriously considering one of these recently and would have pulled the trigger if it weren't for the price increase to nearly $7,000. In the end, I figured it was a safer bet to pay a bit more and got a Honda CRF450L used with only 750 miles. Yes, it did have a snatchy throttle and I did dump another $700 for a new aftermarket ECU, but I feel I have a better bike than the GPX ever would have been. Thanks for putting out an honest review.

I think the price is my main gripe. At around 4500 bucks, yeah it may be a decent option. But they have priced themselves out of the market they created.

I would have went with a Honda as well, especially for the kind of $ they are asking. Honda or Yamaha for me, never even been a question. I’ve owned them all literally and between Blue and Red you can’t go wrong.

The 450 was way too much price wise and then the upgrades on top of that I'm happy with my 300l

    • @jwaller1327
      @jwaller1327 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Can’t go wrong with a Honda. If you ever do feel you want more than the 300L has to offer, Honda has a bike for you. But honestly, unless you’re really going hard core off road, the 300L is just fine. Maybe needs a suspension upgrade (it would for MY fat ass, but all bikes do!) but otherwise a great all around dual sport bike

Kind of an interesting story I ended up having to Lemon Law a KTM 690r for engine defect issues. I know this would seem counterproductive but I think that Chinese manufacturers introduce a bit of issues when they go to fuel injection route. I think it's easier to make a carburetor run well enough but with an EFI it has to be bang on

Shame it didn't workout for you bud. A lot has changed in the short period of time since you had the GPX. My 2 stroke TSE 250 2022 has been hammered up to 150hrs and still runs great. A few carb issues in the early days but I now have an XTNG carb which sorted jetting out. I also addressed a few things from a build point of view to suit my taste and make it more durable for race conditions but the basic bike was pretty good. I have two KTM's as well, 2019 300 TPI and a 2017 450 EXCF. Both these bikes are great but so is my GPX I have a lot of fun on it, it's my most used bike. At under 5K I knew it would not be a half price KTM but I took my chances like you did with the 450. Like you said a lot of issues with the 450 have now been addressed but that did not help you with the earlier bike. As far as the engine replacement issue situation I can understand the bitter taste you have been left with. I work on a lot of European bikes and they have some design flaws like plastic oil pump gears , poorly produced electrics and frame faults. Its quite surprising at times and makes me think is there ever a good egg out there, some bikes never have issues but some are lemons. As far as Jap bikes go I've not worked on one for years but yes they are generally pretty good but a little dated.
Good Luck and Keep Riding Dude.👍

Hi, i'm just bought the 450 in the UK where they are £5795 new. Although i bought an ex demo bike with 100 miles already on it. I believe a lot has improved in the 2023 model, plus we don't have the engine power restrictions over here. I'll only be using mine for trail/dual sport riding, i'm hoping to get some videos recorded soon.

@@mariuszuk79So far so good, i havn't had any of the issues in the video. My only dislike is the clutch won't fully disengage, it's better when the engine is hot but when trying slower technical riding i feel it still pulling a bit. I've had no problem with gpx uk either.
I've got a few videos on my channel, but i recommend contacting gpx to find a dealer near you to look at them yourself.

I was considering one of those bikes back in '21, but I just couldn't get past the price for what I would be getting, and I wasn't sure if I could really trust a chinese bike, even though it seemed to be higher quality than other chinese bikes. Anyway, I'm just so glad that I decided against it. Instead, I ended up buying a used Honda CRF450X and it's been great.

I had a similar issue with this company but not as bad as yours. I had a TSE 250r. On the first ride, the nut that holds the kick starter on and the c-clip that holds on the shift arm that comes out of the top of the clutch cover magically disappeared. Contacted GPX to order parts and paid a hefty shipping fee but not a big deal. Several weeks later no parts. Contacted Gary and he said he would take care of it. More time passed and the parts never arrived. Contacted them again, Got the apology and they said parts were on their way. Eventually got something in the mail but it was only the C-clip. The nut I paid for never came. (which isn't a standard size I could just pick up at a hardware store) Finally after almost a year of not having a kick starter on my bike I just special ordered a 5 pack of nuts online with the correct thread pitch and had to mill it down myself at work to match the thickness of the stock one. Also around halfway through my ownership of the bike I decided to order a spare oil injection pump because mine was leaking a little. Paid a little under $100 for the pump and shipping. A month went by and no pump. Talked to Gary again. Also mentioned I never received the kickstarter nut I paid for half a year ago along with the oil pump from a month ago. He of course said he would take care of it. Another month passes, no items. Contacted again to get the same dog and pony show. Waited another month, still nothing. Final time contacting them asking for the items I paid for or a refund of my money at least. Gary said he would take care of it personally. I thought that would do it. Well guess what. I never got the items I paid for and never got my money back. After that I just sold the bike and bought a new 2022 KTM 300 XC-W.
To be clear, I did really like riding my GPX. Raced it in some enduro races and the bike was good enough for me. Unfortunately the customer service I received left a very bad taste in my mouth. I would find it hard to trust or give my money to this company again.

Zeta aluminum spacers replace the rubber. The crate motor should have been sent back or your parts should have been sent out the day of the conversation. I bought the FSE 450 back when it was "cheap". I've been romping it around the backwoods for the last couple years and had only a few, minimal issues. I fixed my fuel pump issue by hard wiring the wires to the ignition wires (ignition on = fuel pump on). I didn't know it was due to a relay lol.
I consider the GPX to be fairly light weight with a wet weight of 290lbs. Honda's CRF300 is 310lbs KLX 300 is 302lbs.
I like GPX's long suspension travel 12 inches vs 10 inches KLX and CRF.
I like the maintenance intervals of the Zongshen 450 vs CRF and KLX.
I don't like the way the GPX's EFI? throttle responds to downhills. You can't simply give it a tiny amount of throttle, it engages hard.
I'll be doubly sure to keep a close eye on my wheel bearings.
Honda just released a new XR150l, maybe they will release some more long maintenance interval XRs in larger bore.

I've been into bikes for 43 yrs and have owned and raced just about everything Japanese. When a GPX representative told me they charge more for there GPX bikes than a new KLX300R cuz they are a better quality bike when in fact they are unproven I was done right there and then. Keep these bikes for 5-10 yrs and see what happens with them and see what there resale value is like on the market. My 20 yr old used XR650R will crush any GPX model and prob last another 20 yrs with barely any service to it . They are simply selling pipe dreams. Hey I just noticed your video. I thought it was clear that it was a take out motor that was being sent to you, it's my mistake for not making sure it was 100% complete and understood. I never meant to rip you off and felt the 1200 price for the motor was a good deal and I was not aware that a second invoices was sent for parts that where missing from the motor. Anyway I am sorry, we are a small company and sometimes I probably don’t communicate with the parts dept as I should, that’s probably why they sent a invoice for those parts. Regardless I’m sorry for the troubles you had with the bike. You did get one of the first 450’s in the country in early 2020 and we have made vast improvements since that time and also sent warranty replacement parts to the early 450 guys that had issues. Anyway I totally understand your frustrations and I wish it could have ended better for you. We truly value our customers and try to please them. I wish you well with whatever you are doing and appreciate the feedback you’ve given. I’m sorry you feel you've been done wrong, I’m sorry for the miscommunication, I should have done better to make sure you are taken care of.

I recently purchased a 2022 Kayo 250 K6-EFI new from the dealer, at the time they had it listed for $4,999.00. After negotiating back and forth for about a month, I got them to come way down on price and I ended up paying just over $3k for the bike. $3,042.69. I also got them to throw in a new helmet to go with it for free! Now at that price for a bran new fuel injected 4 stroke dirt bike, I was happy! And was willing to take a risk of purchasing a Chinese brand bike. And I gotta be honest, I’m pretty happy with the bike! I’ve made a few modifications and added some legal accessories, gone through the whole process of getting it registered, licensed, insured, and it’s officially street legal in the state of Texas! - loopholes required - It’s definitely been a fun lil city rippin’ Supermoto!

I ride a 2021.5 GPX FSE450R. This is the newer generation of the wright cycleworks bike he's talking about in this video.
I love the bike, and the company. I "drink the coolaid" in his terms. LOL
