Cool idea, but you have a limited voltage range and no current control. It would be better idea to keep the original charger and hook up one of those buck/boost converters, then you'll have everything in the control and no danger of mains voltage.
Pro tip, if you random charge 12V lead acid batteries, charge them at 14.4V @ 10% total current rating with 2 diodes(rated fot 600V@10A) for reverse voltage protection, at a certain point of charging the battery will start to leak voltage back into the charger and overheat the charger or damage the charger. The diodes will get a bit warm but that's expected.

You have fallen for the common misconception that the thing you plug your phone or laptop into is a “charger”. It’s not. It’s a 5V or 19.2V power supply. The”charger” is in the phone or laptop. Adjusting the voltage doesn’t somehow magically turn it into a “charger”. It is simply a variable power supply.

my recommendation is don't try this this - is mains voltage it can kill you just checking voltage change with resistor is very dangerous especially "ac" part of power supply, if you really want do this with your laptop power supply just buy a buck boost coverter and hook it to charger it's much better solution, dont open your charger and play with it while plugged in like a idiot

@@davadoff You missed the point, the primary is not 8mm distance, if it every arced over, the output can have HV for a moment. Double insulation can help, but not in this situation as the HV just travels out the output wires

nice job and good idea. I would have left the ferrite bead on the end of the cable for noise reduction. These switching supplies are very RF hostile. I am going to convert a couple and keep the coaxial connector at the end with the ferrite and make up a few different adaptor cables with alligator clips, Anderson power poles, etc.

This is just a variable voltage power supply. When you use this to charge your battery, if charging is completed, you have to disconnect the battery from this power supply immediately, becz this doesn't have auto cutoff, over voltage protection, reverse polarity protection.

That’s the incorrect way to wire a potentiometer. I’m surprised no one else mention it yet. Think about what happens if wiper doesn’t make contact (goes open circuit), which happens eventually with mechanical damage or dust getting in. You must connect middle pin (wiper) to one of the other pins - don’t just use two pins. Which way to connect it depends on whether you want voltage to increase or decrease with clockwise turn.
There's no problem to use super glue on PCBs? I've avoided do it because I thought that could damage the tracks, I always use hot glue, but sometimes it's not a good option because I really need something "super" 😂.
@@achv4668 fire wasn’t the best analogy, but anyway… You can protect against over voltage damage with a diode & fuse, costing maybe $0.20 in parts. The fuse blows to prevent any real damage to the rest of the device. Maybe your MacBook has that. The motherboard could appear completely dead but it’s an easy & very cheap fix. I guess Apple didn’t add that protection but it’s worth looking into.

LM2596 step down circuits are available, better to take charger output as input of LM2596 by rotating of potentiometer we will get required voltage.
Are the output caps rated for 22v?
If original voltage is 19.5, I guess it's okay up to 25v
