This Movie will be OFF THE HOOK..and im glad to hear that DIANA ROSS'S 1972 *Lady Sings The Blues*portrayal of Holiday is what inspired Lee Daniels to make Films and direct this much needed version of Billie Holiday....I know Audra Day will slay this .

No it wasn't.
This film was outstanding it focused mainly ON HER CAREER, its twists and turns and not just attributions of her private life. The insinuations were enough for adults to understand the references and kept the film with continuity about what she OFFERED to the world, HER VOICE & TENACITY. Thank you Lee Daniel's for presenting a film where sexuality was not the focus, and you gave us an EXCEPTIONAL VIEW of the life and forced upon tragedy of The Great Lady Day. Adra Day was the most perfect choice EVER!!!!
P.S. Stay this course, the film was exceptional and exquisitely tasteful. Thank you, Mr. Daniels.

This movie and it’s actors scratched my soul. I had to start and stop watching this movie several times. My best explanation of this movie is ‘raw’. I was ashamed for Ms. Holiday; I felt angry at her; I felt empathy for her and then, I fell in love with her. Thank you Mr. Daniels and all of the actors on this magnificent piece of art. In addition, to all of the people gathered in the making of this movie. Thank you so much.

the pets were the substitutes for the children she never had....so i saw it as serious...however i was waiting to see Trevantes reaction when he found out it was...the dog...he underplayed it beautifully...i smiled so hard...
Isn't it strange or just coincidental that both Diana Ross and Andra Day's first appearance in a film was " about Billie Holliday? Both women neither considered themselves as actors, but yet, both did spectacular jobs; one has won an Award, and the other was up for nomination. Also, by professional trade, both are singers.

Andra gave Billie the regal ness she deserved. Loved seeing Miss Lawrence, Da’Vine Joy, Natasha...want to see Trevante everyday of my life, oooh,, Thank you Lee Daniels for telling Black stories. I miss “Star” but not “Empire” except Gabby, Taraji, and all the strong women from the show.

For Andra Day to call Ms. Billie Holiday "the godmother of the civil rights movement" [10:56] is a blatant disregard for Ida B. Wells and all the other prominent civil rights leader that spoke out against lynching and preceded Ms. Holiday. Do your research, Ms. Day! Not withstanding, this film and Ms. Day's commitment to portraying the legacy of Ms. Holiday is impeccable!

In my opinion it was over sexualized, but so is our society. Billie Holiday probably did have some very sexy real scenes in her life. She was quite liberating, in the entertainment business and it was part of that culture.
