The Massachusetts Institute of Technology is an independent, coeducational, privately endowed university in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Our mission is to advance knowledge; to educate students in science, engineering, technology, humanities and social sciences; and to tackle the most pressing problems facing the world today. We are a community of hands-on problem-solvers in love with fundamental science and eager to make the world a better place.
The MIT TH-cam channel features videos about all types of MIT research, including the robot cheetah, LIGO, gravitational waves, mathematics, and bombardier beetles, as well as videos on origami, time capsules, and other aspects of life and culture on the MIT campus. Our goal is to open the doors of MIT and bring the Institute to the world through video. - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
Audio is way too low. Have you ever heard of 0db ?
10:00 - actually, logistics functions are rarely used anymore, instead, a much simpler and more effective function called ReLU (rectified linear unit) is standard today, or some variation thereof.
great talk, thanks
This is an enlightening and fun talk.
Tell me something I don't know
Thatz really really Coool...
Work Hard!! Great insight by Mr. Brooks.
I want to hear an interview with just her (her being the introducer). She seems like a very interesting person :)
Yea, after 2012 I get wary of all type of hype. Mobile was the last true thing. Look at SBF, took half the world on a ride with tech that now one really new what to do with. Thanks for the value ❤.
There is the memorization effect and in gpt 4 a large part of an Harry Potter book came out of it. So the explanation is that Harry Potter is in large part just the next most probable Word?
This is going to age like milk
What's the point of his talk? I have to laugh about the academic scolars scramble to explain what AI is and what is not.
Less is more
I always found Rodney Brooks to be a very down to earth engineer, not a "scholar" in quite the way you suggest. He's trying to explain to you how it works and put that into some context. It's an enormously good talk actually.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
When Dr. Brooks predicts that LLMs will not drive robotics any time soon, by Clarke's first law we could deduce that he is probably wrong.
This is why MIT is completely behind in AI right now.
Yes, when rod brooks retired, MIT csail was deprecated.
Sound like he’s trying to justify his misdirected effort towards so from years ago. How about saying , “I was wrong’ ?
