Already adore your videos- but this is my very favorite. Thank you for sharing your family with your supporters and highlighting the beauty of our people.
What a feast! Middle Eastern food is one of the best cuisines in my opinion! especially those vine leaves, yummy! Also loved hearing you speak Arabic, would be nice to hear it more often 😍
Bring able to cook with your grandma is such a blessing! My Nonna passed when I was young so I never got to cook with her/learn her recipes. This is such a lovely video and the food looks so tasty!
I hope the family time healed you as much as this video healed me. It felt like a warm hug. Makes me want to cook with my family now. Sending love and support to you and your family 🍉
14:33 "Let's just have a bite before I die" haha Omg your Great Aunt & Grandma are also so talented! Dough party indeed! I wish to try every item in this video, please! Thanks for sharing your culture with us! Awesome you can get in more Grandma time. Obsessed with the footage of travedling with all the goods you baked together
@bodegacatx I actually did have a paralysis seizure condition at first and did have doctors say that mine was really actually "poison ivy". They also never told me that poison ivy is in a lot of foods like sundried tomatoes. I was forced to find a cure myself, and was cured of the paralysis and seizures in my early 20s with an herb called "milk thistle". Just recently, in my late 30s and early 40s, I found the final herbs I need from my true lord, Aleister Crowley, including two of his favorites, myrrh and galangal, and one for super energy, andrographis (the one that turned me vegan and that I lost tons of weight over). For years now, I have used a special spice, drink mix, and body washes with the andrographis, milk thistle, myrrh, galangal and other herbs I alternate. Now, I have super energy and immunity and do uphill long walks and hikes every day in addition to being vegan. So, I went from paralysis seizures to cured to super detoxing to almost super powers. I would one day like to be in a job position where I could elimate poison ivy from existing in the food and soap supply and would also like my special spice available for people to use. The herbs are all available on Amazon. My school district and family never used or heard of Zaa'tar at all, but used salsa or sundried tomatoes and Suave or Bath & Body Works soap (until I prevented it at home), which all have ivy. That is why I was surprised to learn that one spice listed for Mediterranean says the word sumac, when every restaurant I tried of falafels, grape leaves, hummus, baba ghanoush etc are all wonderful. I was also unhappy that when I first tried Himalayan salt, it was great, but it later had all ivy in it and was no longer the original thing I tried. Anyway, I just stay energized with my herbs and eat whatever is great, including the stuffed grape leaves.
Oh Rebecca, I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of your sister, I must have missed that previously. Thanks so much for this very timely glimpse into your family's culinary traditions. I would kill for one of those spinach pies. Did Roberto like what you brought him?
The food looks so delicious! It's awesome that you were able to spend time with your grandma & great aunt. Making food together and hearing a little bit of the language really brings out the family/cultural part of eating.
I did not know that you were bilingual. I saw you communicating with your grandma and great aunt and you were speaking another language. I think it’s so cool that you know another language besides the American language, you’re one of the favorite people that I follow. I love how you’re so close to your family and I’m also impressed on how you travel to help other people. I’m sure that your families very proud of you.
Was so shocked to hear you say your grandma and have the camera pan to a very young looking grandma. What a beautiful lady! Hope you made some lovely memories on your trip. My condolences to you and your family for what I can imagine is a hard time ❤
Really enjoyed watching you make food with your grandmother and great aunt. It's so important to spend time with the older generation, learning from them and making memories. Thanks for sharing this one ❤
Palestinian food is just something else - sure, we do get to try and make some variations of certain dishes but I still feel like we're missing out on so many wonderful dishes and side dishes! I absolutely love the fact we get to know more about your family's traditions through the food you share!
Yummmmmm, making me miss my yai yai, I don't know if you remember I commented absolutely forever ago saying there are a lot of similarities between Greek Cypriot food and yours, especially where there was influence from Asia minor, shows we are all connected. Your family is beautiful thank you for sharing them with us. I've met and heard speak every Palestinian ambassador to Ireland in the last 14yrs, Sinn Féin and Irish Republicanism has always had close ties with those struggling for freedom, I cried every time I heard them speak but this year was understandably harder than the other years, Dr Jilan Wahba Abdalmajid and her husband are such wonderful people and I'm glad to have met them. My mother told me this story that when she was very young and everything kicked off in Cyprus she had to translate from the English news to Cypriot for all her older relatives because they didn't understand English and she didn't even have the words like she didn't know the words to describe half of what was being said and she was seeing and that's comparatively mild compared to this. I don't even know how I veered off into this super drawn out comment, I suppose how can anyone not be thinking about it, but sending all my love to all of you. Saoirse don Phalaistín ✊🏻
Thank you so much. It must have been such an honor to meet all those ambassadors. Such strong people with such a heavy weight on their shoulders. And yes! there are alot of similarities between ours and greek food. From the grape leaves to the spinach pies
I miss my Ukie grandmas and their cooking. It's not the same when you make it yourself. You obviously cherish your relationship with your grandmother and great aunt, and your entire family is so close, it's a precious treasure in times of difficulty. This also gives me recipe ideas! Thanks for posting!
Love 🥰 this video and it is the best one because beautiful Rebecca is spending time with her grandma and family. 😋 Vegan food and good recipes. Rebecca's grandmother is a good cook. Love 💞 Rebecca and love 💕 her grandma.
This was just so sweet! Your grandmother is so tiny and cute 🥰 must have been exactly what you needed to get hugs from those amazing women but their delicious food which has to feel like a warm hug too.
I am seriously not sure if you could trust me around the stuffed grape leaves, since I might eat the whole plate! I actually love canned stuffed grape leaves from the store. I am not certain if I would be able to try Zaa'tar, because I am severely allergic to (but very well cured of and immune to) poison ivy and oak, which have been referred to as sumac. I am actually not afraid of trying it, because the thing I am allergic to is really sundried tomatoes and many types of pink salt instead. The Mediterranean food never tastes or smells like it at all. I was going to try the Mediterranean restaurant in Myrtle Beach last summer that had it, but our hotel ended up not being near it. The location I walked to from my hotel was no longer there. I love to get this food for my birthday dinner sometimes. The place I went to last year in CT where I live was the best ever! My mom and I both agree that we never had hummus (with the same pink pickles), falafels, baba ghanoush, rice or anything else equal to the ones at THE OLIVE TREE in Milford, CT. I am planning to go to this restaurant again for my birthday this year on April 30 (maybe, but I still want to try this one vegan pizza spot). My family often go to the Hampton Beach strip in New Hampshire for summer, and when we do, I always stop by LOLA'S to get the wonderful, super hot, out of this world veggie stuffed grape leaves (she makes meat ones too). I cannot decide which veggie grape leaves I like the best out of all of them. I am vegan, so I have not had the meat ones. Anyway, I really wish I could consider going on a missions trip with you to help your people in the conflict. If I went on a missions trip to Guatemala for two weeks before I was even cured of the illness I had, then I could probably be even better than that on a missions trip now, with myself all detoxed and cured. It would take quite long to get a whole passport and all that stuff we need. Sometimes I wish I just renewed my old passport all along, even though it would have been a waste of money with me never traveling. I just hope each day that this conflict will end and that everyone will love stuffed grape leaves as peace makers.
LOVED this video, it was great to see your family's recipes and you all enjoying time together in the kitchen 🧡 Also loved the part where your camera was about to die "tofurkeycucumbersspinachpiesBYE" 😂
Your whole family is lovely. I hope you had a wonderful time. You are some of my favorite foods. I haven’t had those spinach pies since summer 2020. Oh I crave. And that potato and wheat dish topped with potato - I need that.
grandma's are the absolute best!!!!! I miss mine very much she passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2020 - and this video with all the grandma love warmed my heart. any chance we can get the babaganoush recipe? ☺

I have never seen your channel before. You’re making me hungry! Everything looks delicious ! Are the Palestinian Spinach Pies usually made without cheese and egg? They look wonderful! So many naturally vegan options!

Rebecca I NEED your pickled turnip recipe. Palestinian and Lebanese food is my favorite and when i get falafel i am obsessed with the pickled turnips and I need the recipe so I can have them for my salads and bowls with warmer weather!!
Wow, your Arabic language is beautiful ,I didn’t expect your pronunciation to be so beautiful and I hope you will increase this content and make a full day video speaking Arabic ,It will be fun.
Holy sht your grandma went ham! Sorry if it was answered in the video, but is Palestinian food already very vegan-friendly or is your grandma also vegan?
They aren't vegan! But things like sides and salads are very vegan friendly and then Rebecca's family accommodates and just makes things like the apple pie roll dessert vegan 😊 I think meat like lamb is popular. Rebecca sorry sometimes I answer for you to try to help forgive me if I'm not quite right, please chime in 😂
Palestinian food has alot of vegan food in it and alot of easily veganizable food. It's especially easy for my family because middle eastern christians eat fully vegan for a month of "fasting" every year. So there's already been centuries of veganizing our cultural recipes. So, while most Palestinians do eat meat regularly, it's really easy for my grandma to cook vegan when im with her. All the recipes in this video were already vegan. She didnt have to veganize them for me.
What I took away from.this video: 1) Your grandma looks so young, so does your great aunt. 2) Palestinian cuisine seems to be mostly vegan. Is your grandma vegan too?
No, she's not vegan. But many Arab Christians eat vegan for a month as a religious practice. Because of this, much of our cultural food has been veganized already over the centuries. So its really easy for my grandma to cook vegan when im around :)
I love hearing you speak your language. It’s beautiful.
