Hello!! I’m brazilian and my dream is to become an actress and move to L.A. The thing is: here in Brazil, if you want to participate in movies/series you need a certificate, which is called DRT. You can get that by going to college (3 years) or taking a few classes. I’m not sure, but I think this certification is only valid in national territory. My question is: In the U.S.A you also need some kind of paper saying you are able to be an actor? or you can simply go to an audition and if you are really good they cast you? When I get there do I have to take classes too or just go straight to the auditions? I’m a bit confused. Thanks fot the attention!!

Day 4 California from the On Set Experience tells me repeatedly that my download link expired even though I never downloaded it. Has had this error since literally after buying it. Please fix!
I appreciate it! Support got back to me at 1am saying "We see you were successfully able to download your file" but that isn't the case so I emailed them back. I'm sure it's an easy fix once they see that I have everything but day 4!
jfrost Depends on your outlook, man. Remember, some of the greatest filmmakers didn't even go to film school. David Fincher, Quentin Tarantino, Stanley Kubrick, James Cameron. Neither of them went to film school. Paul Thomas Anderson and Steven Spielberg both dropped out of film school (PTA because he felt it was unnecessary and Steven Spielberg because Warner had given him a directing contract after being impressed by his short film 'Amblin').
This makes me wonder on the one million question: what's the best approach? Making tons of prep with shotlists, storiboards and such and such so that you are sure that the vision and the message you had with the inital idea are being preserved trough all the production process....or just having your the basic tools to make sure you don't forget anything but let everybody leave his footprint into the project so that the end result is more than the idea of the writer/director? Ryan, I think you would stick with the second approach. But what should I do? I have done everything. Really. Storyboards, shot lists and even decided lens, focus and exposure for each shot. My question is: We will start shooting in one month; Should I bring the prep work with me? Or should I keep it for myself and don't show it to the crew? I'm scared that I may influence the people on this project with me way to much. Peace ✌
