I am actually interested in an underwater drone, but not for any of the missions this drone provides (e.g., water sample, robot arm). I just want to use it to safely explore underwater caves in Florids springs. So I think this drone is probably overkill for me. But I looked at the prices and they are not ridiculously expensive.

I love the Fifish Expert but enjoy the Evolution as it has the one-inch sensor and you might like to get one too!

Great video, thank you. What kind of battery do you get with this drone and how long does it take to charge?

It would be great to have a metal detector on it and a longer arm.

How well is it protected from electric shock around boats and other objects that can produce a shock ? My question is a little far fetched 😅

I live in California, and as you might not know we have huge waves. IF i buy this, If i run out into the surf can I toss this drone like a grenade pass the wave Break? Would it survive me tossing it and impacting the water? I saw you lowering it carefully makes me think otherwise. Also when retrieving it from the side of a a cliff would it survive bumping into a rock a couple times as i try to pull it up?

Looks like FLA, to me! Loved Diving the Oceanside CA. Rock Jetty, after Midnight. Pulled dozens of Lobster dinners outta' there through the decades! I was a Marine Stationed at El Toro, Camp Pen, and MCRD San Diego. Isn't an inch of coastline that I missed from the Border to Santa Barbara, Catalina etc. Miss that now, as I spent 32 years in Mexifornia, and dove most of the Baja Peninsula! 1979, and the next 32 years. I do miss blowin' bubbles and getting high on the Reefs of SoCal, for sure! Explored most all by boat as well. A lot of it with my 2001 MacGregor 26X PowerSailor! Owned since new. Best Dive platform, bar none! Doin' the Right Coast now,, including FLA.1500+ dives....... and counting! Now I am older than the "Old School" dude in his vids! HA! Gotta get me one of those drones! Great reviews, and practical uses and content!

Great rov for the $$. But trying to learn how to use all the features is going to be long task. The instruction manual provided is poorly written. Trying to get support online is just as informative as manual. A POS.

    • @sillyhumanoid

Wdym, drones only run for this amount of time usually, if not less. For its size and capabilities, I'd say one hour is great time for this kind of drone.

I’m gonna be lame and say I hate this thing. The inevitable disturbances and vandalism to underwater sites and landmarks that can be caused by something so accessible is scary.

I wouldn't launch it from the cable. Just get some rope with a wide hook and link it to the loop.... Launch then recover the rope.
Or grab the hook with the claw, launch and release.

Or possibly go to one of the Big Box Hardware stores and get the same length "Plastic coated cable" they sell and swage it to the drone's handle I say! The 1/16" will easily work, and the smallest Cable Ties available, unless the manufacturer already somehow did that perhaps? I see a lost drone if that cable, they use, is gone when sheared by something, or snagged perhaps, and pulled on too hard possibly? Only thing I see as a weak point, but not knowing what it is, that is how I would protect that investment! The BIG question, is this thing neutrally buoyant or negatively buoyant, and at what depths?
