      @@KULLYCO I’m entirely new to fabrication as a whole and just started fumbling around with a multiprocess machine running some MIG and DC- TIG. This info I huge for me because I plan on welding up my own X-pipe for my LS RX7 drift car. I’ve been a bit frustrated with my stagnancy and lack of progress but this info really helped me to develop a better understanding for the factors that truly play a role in a successful weld on thinner material. Gonna get a backpurge setup going and start working on my technique some more with this new info!

    Okay, dumb question: those backflow pucks - the only way for the gas to escape is through the seam between the two workpieces? Does that mean that once you're making the very last "dime" that the air pressure might push that molten metal out? Maybe surface tension would keep it in, especially if it's a very low pressure from the tank.

    • @KULLYCO
      @KULLYCO  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That is actually a really good question! Yes, in some cases that exact scenario can happen, so you have to be careful. Its more susceptible to happen when welding higher amperage stuff like frame tubing, because the more heat causes more pressure inside. Most of the time on exhaust stuff you are okay. However, usually one of the back purge pucks has a bleed hole in it so the purge gas can escape- to prevent this from happening.
