Ah lock 7, grew up on old Thorold stone road. crossed the bridge that's not there anymore many times at lock 7. We would often buy sun flower seed from McCloys store and the sell at a higher price them or trade with the sailors on passing ships.Thats when you could stand right by the cannal next to the bridge. Great video thanks. Ed
Closest I got was on my ex-girlfriend's "stepfather's" yacht on a trip up-river to Kingston. I had no idea what is further up the St Lawrence Seaway. I met the GF on the Island of Madeira in the Atlantic. Watching from Brisbane Qld [well above the Brisbane river which floods some of the city from time to time].

It is such a controlled area there may not be much if any debris to clean up. Other than the occasional bottle or log that washes in with the current, it looks like silt is the biggest problem.
There’s no water because they doing some work on the lock walls and other things. Winter is the only time that they can do maintenance. Can’t do in the summer since it’s full of water and the ships are using it.
@@birdseye-view68 I'd be the optimist in the room and say it has an overabundance of air, from the base all the way to the outer edge of the atmosphere. It's much more impressive that way.

That is the canal system that is used to get between Lake Erie and Lake ontario on the US Canada border . The canal is on the Canadian side. This is very near Niagara Falls
@@Katchi_ yes, but if you have good editing software, you can put your vocals (explaining the view from the drone) in what is called post production. Pretty cool looking with the drone footage. I bet they are just waiting for their next big boat to come through- looks like it’s working well.
The Welland canal is going to open on March 22, 2024.
@@birdseye-view68 thank you! I hope you get the chance to film it! I loved your drone skills it was great to watch!
Beautiful view of the flight locks, my beloved hometown, awesome, Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it

The rear of the house is base on the wheelhouse of the SS Keewatin. The late owner worked on the ship when he was a boy in Port McNicoll area
What a great video. I wonder just how much interesting/weird stuff they find at the bottom?
Good question! I’ve seen a pickup truck with the cab flattened, a bicycle and other miscellaneous things
A bottom.......🤭
Nice, thanks. Do they clean up the debris in the locks? It looks like it would be quite an undertaking.
Not that I know of

When I first started to take pictures of ships, I’ve seen a pick up truck that was there for 2 winters in row
@@birdseye-view68 in the lock? Bodies?
@@Mike44460 not in the lock but on the approach wall just north of lock 2. The cab was flattened, I couldn’t see if there was a body inside.
Would have loved to see the emptying but can we see the filling?
I’ll try to do a video sometime in March. Usually it takes a few days to fill the canal.
@@birdseye-view68I just subscribed to watch it fill up. Pretty neat!
Why do they have taintor gates in addition to the lock gates at one end of the lock chamber?
I’m assuming they’re there just in case it’s needed in an emergency. Only seen it being use once during the winter
@@birdseye-view68 Good point. Thanks.
Как запущен водяной путь, каналы забиты мусором, бетонное дно полопалось, видно что упадок..

Exactly, soul brother. Keep calling them out.🍻
Yes, it’s empty because there’s no water. What you would call it?

Where is this canal?
Not far from Niagara Falls, Ontario. It goes from Lake Ontario to Lake Erie
Why do they empty it?
So they can do maintenance on the locks. They’re almost 100 years old
@@birdseye-view68 Makes sense but is the marine traffic rerouted or is the canal frozen over?

I like drone footage if there's audio in it, then it's something I'm interested in.
The correct title would be "An empty lock", thank you.
The video shows more than just the locks. The section between the locks will be called?
