I have often made the comment to self-righteous atheists that I would much rather spend my life believing in God and following His commandments and in the end find out that I am wrong, than spend my life not believing and mocking those who do and finding out that I am wrong!
They typically respond by citing Pascals Wager, but they miss the vital element...which is the wager. What are they willing to put on the altar? Tell them that if they want to see God and know for themselves that He exists you can guarantee this. All they have to do is read their scriptures every day. Go to church every Sunday. Pray often. Fast 1x per month, Etc. for 40 years and they will receive Incontrovertible undeniable evidence that God exists. They won't last 2 weeks. They aren't willing to wager enough to get what they claim to seek.
