There are numerous reasons why some don’t like the chargers and the Avelia I don’t mind the chargers but would like the avelia more if they changed the horn on it. I think a Wabco AA-2 would fit better on it.
Awesome! You should check out Amtrak in the Northeast, we got lots of cool electric trains there. Our ACS-64s and Acelas also have amazing K5LAs! So do our metroliner cab cars!
Those P32 Dash 8's have the most gorgeous sounding K5LA's and mechanical bells on all of Amtrak in my opinion. Combine that with the Wide cab freight engine setup and you got an awesome engine. At the same time though the F59PHI's and some screaming K5LA's with a more pronounced metallic tone to them that I aboslutely dig. The Alstom cab cars have quillable K5's which at times do sound unique though but I personally prefer the full air supply scream over the soft quill tone.
Decent collection of horns. Shame that most of the P42s no longer have nice Older K5LAs. 2052 probably has the best K5 out of the remaining Dash-8s. 171 used to be one of the best, but has since lost some of it's tune. 74 and 119 also had some of the best K5s
The whole idea of this upload is for the horns at the beginning of the trains. This is a compilation video of previously uploaded shots that were uploaded in their entirety in the past.
Most of them are still running, but 2008 and 2011 will be retired on June 1st and replaced by SC-44s 2123 and 2124. Afterwards, 2008 and 2011 will apparently be transferred to Altamont Corridor Express and then converted into NPCUs for them.
@@spencerhughes2255 They look like and are from the 80s. Meanwhile the rest of the developed world has high speed trains or at least nice electric ones. theres literally paint chipping off of all of these, the passenger cars look like converted cattle cars.
I just can’t get over how beautiful Amtrak 74’s horn is!!
74’s horn is now terrible. It has multiple chimes dead.
@@zwmrailfanyeah it has a RL K5LA now.
I still miss the F59's, but I'm starting to like the SC44. I don't know why most people are hating the SC44's, and the new Acela Trainsets.

I like f59phi better because its part of my childhood when i used to ride it and also because in my opinion it has a better horn than the sc44 charger
@@Alexander27140 I live in a region where the F59’s are not seen I have never seen one in real life only on TH-cam
The SC44s are just kinda meh, plus they all have boring Raised Letter K5LAs
@@CSX500 same with the HSP-46s up here NONE of them have horn variety
0:21 best horn ever
14:14 is the best horn! 12/10
You mean 14:13

Thanks! Funny thing is: I've seen those metroliner cabs when they used to be in Southern California 20+ years ago. I'd be very cool to see them again.
Great video! Any chance we can get the spotting locations added in?
I super love this video! Also a little loud to be honest. 9/10
9:10 is the best Amtrak horn on this video! 12/10
It features the Amtrak heritage unit 42 on the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner!

2052 hasn’t run in a few years and the horn was taken by some clown straight out of the Oakland yard
Ah, that sucks
5:00 wins… especially this part 5:23
14:13 This Was In February 2017
Nice video Spencer, and that engineer is Greg Luiz in the first clip he has #2 seniority in all of amtrak
It´s just me but the engineer in the 15:23 disappear?
Spencer, why are you cutting off clips of train videos and not showing them in their entirety?

If you can't tell,.....I'm already a fan 😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
Sounds like they are using the horn sequencer at 2:06!
Does Amtrak California still have those 2 P32-8WH locomotives
I believe so but I don’t think they run them anymore.
0:17 is the quill horn stuck? Or is the driver just holding the quill horn button.
Yay, A second one!
9:26 F59PHI POWAH
I love the horns on the p42's and dash-8's plus the cab cars have good horns as well
Nice video man!
0:59 Big Game Amtrak!
I was thinking about seeing Amtrak's new locomotives like p42dc 100 50th anniversary locomotive and Amtrak dishcharger
Great video Spencer!
Hey spencer guess what amtrak is one of my favourite railroads in the world alongside via rail
1:43 looks the horn same with the 74 other one
Nice! Who doesn’t love a good K5LA!
Amazing Catch
1:00 Big Game Train Unit
The Dash 8 is 100x better
50 no longer wears the Big Game Train lettering.
Great one spencer
I miss the FH59 PHI Amtrak locomotives to hopefully Chicago can let them come back to California soon
Well like I don’t know if that’s ever gonna happen because Amtrak (idk about this) might be keeping the SC-44 chargers and not the F59PHI’s
That Dash-8 in the second clip is absolutely beautiful! Also, where was the engineer in the last clip lol?
13:31 You may already know this, but that very engine, CDTX 2011, is right about to be retired, along with CDTX 2008.
I actually didn’t know. How many PHI’s are they still running?

i miss the f59phis those were the best
8309 sounds awesome
2003 sounds like 2009 and before 2015 retired
The Dash 8's have the best horns on Amtrak, although there are some Genesis units that could be strong contenders.
Amazing 🔥
2:35 IT LOOKS LIKE A ES40AH OR ES40AC OR ET40AC
That’s a Dash 8.
GREAT HORNS LOVE IT if I created some train simulator I should have added horns to the game what I created if I have it
6:33 AYE A SONG TRAIN
