In this video, Melanie and I talk more about the publishing process and look at self-publishing versus traditional publishing and why self-publishing is better. We talk about marketing, as writing isn't the hard part! Marketing is! So begin building your Author Platform now and grow an audience.
It's important to write your story even if you are aren't going to publish it. Write it for yourself first. Then write it for your children and those who will come after you. If you do decide to publish it, you WILL NEED to market it! Just as writing a book is similar to giving birth to a baby, marketing is the raising of the child, and it takes time and effort! Most people don't realize this. Especially if you think traditional publishers are going to do it for you.
It is hard to get picked up by traditional publishers, as Melanie shares an example.

These days, your audience, that is your readers, (your readership) want to ENGAGE with you! Gone are the days of staying locked up in a cabin in the woods to write continuously. In an age of technology, you must engage with your readers, and with the internet, you have the tools at your fingertips to do so! It's never been easier and more economical to market yourself to a large group of people all at once and relatively quick!
