I'm so happy for the support your daughter has received from all of us!
First thing is first, my name is Wendell Quillen, owner operator of Visual Echo drone services, located in Port St.John, Florida. I'm still iterating the fact, you kind sir are the boiler maker I'll be listening to for making comments to the FAA. I trust you and see your passion. You make too much sense and only hope our nation will hear your words. Again, I am your servant and if there is anything I can do from my location to add to your suggestions, do not hesitate to contact me.
This message goes to anyone else, based from his ideas.
Looking so forward to your next update...

Thank you for trying so hard to help change the outcome of proposed laws that won't even impact your enjoyment of the hobby in the near future. Although you know that if the FAA has their way in the USA it will create a negative domino effect in a multitude of ways that will impact the whole world. Thank you for your wisdom, wit, and willingness to speak the truth for everyone.

Furthermore Bruce, I got to thinking about it and I think the way you stick to your common sense convictions of right and wrong is the way Americans used to be before being corrupted by materialism and the technological evolution of media by those that control it's influence on the massive heard of sheople. You would be a dam good American! We need more like you. Sincerely, I think it stopped being the land of the free sometime after 2001 and has become the land of irrational fear mongering sensationalism. I still love it and I hope people snap out of it before it's too late. There are new laws every year against objects and feelings instead of laws that punish people's harmful actions. Sorry to ramble. Keep being awesome 👍

I thought Brazil and its bureaucracy was bad, then I moved to Idaho bought a drone and then found out about Remote ID and Idaho's laws protecting its citizens privacy and airspace rights. Now I don't feel comfortable flying anywhere and wonder where have our God given rights gone. Hating the government right now!

Makes a whole lot of sense. The cartoon that we use to watch in our childhood days, THE JETSONS, Is the thing of the fiture. TFS!

Wonderfully said my friend and all my best to you family. I am a retired US Army Aviator flew up until 1993. The United States of America will always be a target, and we will be deal with these threats as needed. Making laws in the guise of "Safety and Security" is a laughable. I have spoken with some Tracon atc retired now, they stressed that rank and file ATC/FAA folks were not involved in this proposal. I have sent my input in, this is being put into place due to Amazon, UPS fedex and other transport companies. They do not want a recreational user to have an incursion on on of their own crafts. I recently viewed some other youtube channels Ken Heron is one , his camp tries to say this is a good thing. No it is not, maybe to people like those who are afforded the opportunity promote products. This is certainly not a good thing. Thank you sir.

I see a parallel to be made between owning drones and owning guns:
They are trying to control the ownership under the pretext that they *could* be used for bad purposes, but on the other hand, the government and a few private companies should be allowed to use them exclusively.
And just like guns, the bad guys will always be able to get their hands on an unregistered drone (or gun) and do their thing. It's us, the law abiding citizens who have them taken away. In the case of drones, the police, expecting to find every drone on their app will be even more unprepared in the situation of an unregistered and untraceable drone used nefariously.

    • @grumpyoldnerd8727
      @grumpyoldnerd8727 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Dear Valentin, I think you are missing the point. The majority of guns is made to kill. The majority of drones out there is designed for recreational purposes. Those made to kill are already under governmental control. You cannot relate the two topics at all. It is even more obvious if you compare the fatalities just in the US.

Firstly, Prayers for you and your family.
Thank you for the effort you are putting into assisting us defeating this. Very well researched and thought out.
In my opinion along with all our individual efforts, a national organization that represents manufacturers, wholesalers, dealers and Hobby Shops, as well as individual hobbyists is needed. It is apparent that the AMA is not currently serving our interests. We need to get the larger voices from the hobby working along with us against the proposals. a loud, unified voice, as it were.

  • @peregrinussolutionsllc6010
    @peregrinussolutionsllc6010 4 ปีที่แล้ว

We send our prayers and positive energy to you, your daughter, the rest of your family and anyone else suffering with cancer.
Thank you for spearheading this Bruce! As you say this is just a money grab by extremely wealthy and powerful corporations using unfounded fears to justify their actions. My brothers and I, along with quite a few friends of mine all ended up pursuing careers in science and technology after experimenting with RC model airplanes and gliders as kids. We barely had enough money for the hobby as it was and were doing it in our backyards or parks during the 80-90's. We certainly wouldn't have had the means to jump through all these new hoops being proposed. Peregrinus Solutions LLC is planning on having a yearly educational summer day camp at our headquarters to expose local youth (specifically underprivileged children) to math and science concepts in a fun atmosphere starting this summer. We hope that this interactive teaching method demonstrates the fun and practical aspects of math, science and engineering; possibly sparking a lifelong interest in this fields and learning in general like it did for many of us. By working with educational institutions we are seeking to provide real paths to further education and fulfilling career opportunities. This new legislation will very likely make this all but impossible. I don't foresee the FAA being very generous in their allotment of approved fields or manufactures so this legislation threatens to put many or all small drone manufactures and service providers out of business as well. More than just the hobby community should be concerned about this as you stated.
It is incredibly short sited to cut off so many benefits already enjoyed by the general population and avenues for future innovation in exchange for legislation which solely benefits a few corporations in the short term; many are arguably already monopolies. Remote ID should be used to enhance the UAV or Drone revolution by making things like BVLOS operations possible, not justification to maximize profits for a few select companies regardless of the public cost. Hopefully we can assist your efforts to stop this proposed vastly overreaching legislation from becoming actual law and all the unintended consequences begin to occur.
    Best Regards,
Christian Founder & CEO of Peregrinus Solutions LLC

      Johnny Wade
I find the fact that these “drones”conveniently popped up when the FAA’s Drone ID proposal is being made to be highly suspect. Your government lies to you every day about man made cutting edge vehicles. The NSA wants to mass surveil more Americans using drones as a cover. Most modern Drones “already” broadcast their information. DJI currently has a working system. You as the American public will never be told the truth about these sightings. The reason why is simple. This is to cripple enthusiasts and small drone businesses from flying so the mega rich like Amazon can have the skies all to themselves to bring you your items. Guess what they will use to do it? Surprise!!!! A Drone! Spread the word and don’t be deceived. We are smarter than this!! The FAA and various corporate interests could be creating the panic in Colorado to make it harder for legitimate drone enthusiasts to fly by turning fears of the unknown into CASH. Think I’m just flapping my lips, then go to
Faa.gov, type “remote I’d” in the search window and click on “comments for remote Id proposal” and leave a comment. Please note that within 4 years many drone pilots will have to replace their entire drone fleet. And be forced to pay for additional services, if not they will be grounded. Even if you HATE drones you had better consider how this will effect search and rescue using these drones to help save your life after a natural disaster. Hours equal lives. It could also cause drone schools out of business. No drone pilot to search for you! Drones are not any worse than cars and guns. It’s the person controlling them that can make them lethal. Last but not least the Shipping companies and the Military are the only ones who will profit if this is implemented. You still won’t know what the heck is flying in the skies of Colorado.

First and foremost are prayers for your daughter. I was glad to provide a little coin. But our thoughts and prayers are with her and you too! God Bless!
It is as transparent as this... the argument is more about commerce and the potential for delivery by unmanned aircraft or UAS. The FAA wants to know who is flying so that they can excise the appropriate fees (tax) and so no one subverts this requirement. And the hobbyists are the unfortunate collateral damage because commerce and taxes will far outweigh our pleasure.
I want to know what the hobby companies are doing with respect to this as their livelihoods are at stake. HorizonHobby should be all over this...

Thanks so much for taking a strong lead on behalf of many pilots on this FAA situation! Just to play devil's advocate on the risk assessment topic - so true that drones have been almost universally safe thus far, but they certainly could be used in unsafe ways, especially as the technology gets better and better. It doesn't take a surplus of imagination to envision a disaster or two. We need, as a community, to articulate our assurances around safety and privacy concerns moving forward and not just dismiss the topic as irrelevant because so few issues have occurred up to this point. To put our current situation into perspective, I recently had an opportunity to chat with our new MP, and although we talked about many subjects the most enlightening part was when we came to discuss the new drone regulations, of which he (understandably) seemed to know very little. When I'd outlined how much upheaval and dissent this had caused in the hobby and how little chance there was it could possibly make the hobby safer or stop terrorists, criminals and activists from mis-using RC aircraft he HAD to agree. The most worrying thing though, was the fact that he actually thought that the recent US drone attack was done by flying a drone (in his mind he actually admitted he pictured a DJI Phantom-sized quadcopter) up to the target and blowing it up. When I told him it was almost certainly a Hellfire missile (or similar) fired from a military aircraft-type drone the size of a small light passenger plane he was genuinely surprised. If this is typical of the people making important decisions about our hobby, then it's scary, and we're screwed.

Bruce, please don't forget to encourage folks to send their comments to their federal congressional representatives as well as the FAA. The FAA was created by congress, and congress oversees the FAA's actions (and provides their budget).

I am sorry to hear about your daughter's cancer. Unfortunately, that decease affects all of us in life. That being said, my prayers go out to you, your daughter, and family. And thank you for still taking the time to carry our flag into battle, with these draconian proposed rules.

First of all thank you for all the great work you were doing and the effort you’re putting into this. Since the FAA has not done a risk management study they have failed in due diligence. They may be liable for a class action lawsuit. These are a few buzzwords you might incorporate into a reply.

Good points, you've brought up a concern that I've had. If the FAA wants this much control, how much commercial drone traffic do they intend to introduce into the airspace over the public? I've been flying RC for over 20 years now, I love it, but I don't want to walk out the door and see the skies filled with drones everywhere. And like you said, the large commercial drones, what affect will this have on public safety, driving on the highway and having an 80lbs drone hit your car because it malfunctioned. The FAA really needs to take some steps back and do some proper risk assessment.

Your daughter and her health and happiness run in my thoughts. My prayers for her.
Also, a quick suggestion. It might be very helpful to put links or info in the video description that enable viewers to contact such groups as the FAA, CAA, etc. That way when you say “we must demand a risk assessment!”, viewers can just easily go and contact the FAA demanding that assessment.

Maybe there needs to be an investigation into the government practices that oversee the rulemakers. This would be a great story on the news or an episode of 20/20. And you are correct, if they take away my ability to FPV, I will NOT work as a pilot for anyone and will not support anyone using them. Thanks Bruce, looking forward to more on this. Wishing you and your daughter the best

About the remote ID : I think people should be much more careful about flying in parks and around buildings and such. I believe that if people were a little bit more careful about where to fly, it'll be much better.
Better fly in rural areas and maybe some abandoned buildings.
I sure hope this won't be the end of the hobby. I have just started doing this and I love this hobby, so much. It has made me so happy, some days it's my whole reason to get up in the morning.

'GUIDE LINES' a key phrase. Only rules have to be obeyed, 'guide lines' are exactly what it say's. They are a suggested way of operating that can be ignored if so desired, especially if a case can be made to ignore them, such as a financial/security/privacy or any other obscure reason as long as a good sounding argument can be made.

hopefully God bless you all wishes and prayers for your daughter to fully recover in shortest future, am not in the US and may not even go there but those regulations will affect us world wide, all the drone community and market will be affected by those restrictions that seem without real back ground related to real threats but for a network of private companies and pockets that will appear later... the budget that will be implemented to introduce and maintain this system of those regulations may solve a lot of real other issues that may help citizens of US rather than following ufos threat.

Thank you Bruce, i like very much your plans to try and get the public on our side. Like you i can see just how much worse things will be if the hobbyist is pretty much removed from the sky. With regards to drones i really do not think the general public realise just how lucky they are at this time. Lets face it, if you live in the average town or city then the chances at the moment of being disturbed in anyway by a drone is very very low. Most members of the public would have never seen a drone flying anywhere near their home. But boy, if the governments and the big companies get their own way that could change very quickly indeed. If the hopes of the big companies come true, then the chances are that those same folks, living in the same average towns, will soon start to see very large drones overflying their properties on a very regular basis. Every back garden or yard will become a potential landing and take off pad for these large commercial drones. And those drones, unlike the small ones we fly, will have a dozen or so cameras pointing in all directions - recording to a blackbox. And like you have pointed out, these drones will not be anything like the small drones we fly. They will not have little 3inch props - probably more like 24inch props.
I wonder just how many members of the public would really want them landing within a few feet of where their children are playing in the back yard? And i also wonder just how many of them would want the likes of Google flying so close to their property with all of those HD cameras? After all, we all know how google like to map every part of a country they possibly can, and then put it online.
But, i am also very skeptical about just how feasible a drone delivery service really will be. A delivery van will make so much more sense in 99% of cases. But, the general public need to wake up to the possibilities that these proposed new laws could lead to. Because it really could lead to a situation where you will have big companies invading your privacy on a regular basis. At this moment in time 99.9% of the population will not have any kind of drone problem - if these new proposals become law then that could change very quickly.

Bruce, unless i misread it, standard ID only allows flight with broadcast only, only if the internet is lost in flight. It requires an initial connection and eventual loss, but not being able to connect at all, prior to flight, relegates you to non remote ID and confinement to a FAA authorized identification site.

Bruce as always fantastic work and really good point about those government guidelines. However the FAA's and every other aviation regulatory bodies intentions is now clear. Their goal is to kill the hobby so they can clear the airspace for commercial drones. This is now a political fight and this is something that has caught organisations like the AMA, the MAAA and BMFA totally asleep at the wheel. In addition to making a submission to my US brothers and sisters also write your local congressman/woman and Senator. Also make this point. What happens when a commercial drone fails and takes out someone? Watch the poo hit the fan!
Also Bruce all the best for your daughter's fight with cancer.

Prayers to your daughter, you and your family. Did not know. Just a thought here. Did a little rough math. Amazon delivers roughly 1.6 million parcels a day. Assuming that's global, I say roughly 500 thousand? in the USA. Assuming not all those packages of goodness are drone deliverable, lets say 200 thousand are. Divide that by 48 states. Sorry Alaska and Hawaii. That's almost 4,200 drone deliveries per state per day!. I almost "want" this bill to pass just to see the public's reaction to that many drones flying over us everyday. That aside. THANK YOU for what you are doing.
