Good luck getting the new camera mate. To be honest I'm pleased I've finished buying cameras for a while. So many options to consider! I'm really happy with my Z8 so will certainly be keeping it for some time. All the best Steve.
Excellent question one for a video . But short answer, yes in most situations. But I can still see a need for the A9III in fast action close range . I will be buying the A1 2 to go with my A9III. But the A1 2 will be the go to camera. But I will miss 60/120 fps shots you won't get with the A1 2 🤔
Yup, screen, dual processors with the newer af improvements & hopefully focus stack taking features, that will do it. Don’t really need 60fps , do ya? Unless a paid photographer under contract to capture something, I’m not sure I would want to kull thru more than 20 fps considering how I press the shutter. A9-3? Not enough cropping power!
Well I will switch over to the A1 but I have obtained shots with the A9III that I would not have got before. The Precapture and 60/120 fps does get you extra frames and unique action. In fact you have inspired me to make a video along these lines. 👍
I think it is hard to believe the A1 mark 2 will not have the improved body of the A9iii, but the other specs all sound likely. I also wonder if Sony will also add some new feature currently unknown not in their other models. For price, the A9iii official retail price is still £6,099 on the Sony website, so my guess is the A1 mark 2 being £7,500 at least at launch and although it may be announced before Christmas, I don’t think we will get our hands on one before February. If I remember correctly the A9iii was announced November, but was not in the shops until mid-February.
Yes unfortunately all probably true . It will be hard to operate an A1 mark 2 without the A9III ergonomic design so hopefully this is one rumour they got wrong. Getting some great shots in the interim with the A9 III .
Yeap, I agree, if they don’t adopt the A9iii body & LCD, that will be a huge pity. Probably a deal breaker for me, think I’d stick to the A9iii. I’ve only had my (used) A9iii about 3 weeks now, but it’s noticeably better handling vs my old A7R3 and even my A7S3. The one thing I forgot when I got the A9iii is that the RAW files would not open in my perpetual license of Capture One 22. I’ve been perfectly happy with C1 22, not felt the desire to upgrade to the later versions, but now kind of forced to do something having got an A9iii. C1 offers 0% discount to existing users C1 22 perpetual license to upgrade to the latest version, so I am effectively being treated as a new customer….so, I decided to act like one and trial alternatives (excluding Adobe who I would not touch with a 40ft barge pole). This lead me to trialling DXO Photolab 8, amongst others. I’ve been blown away with DXO’s levels of noise reduction / detail retainment/enhancement. I converted a file from the A9iii to DNG from DXO PL8 so I could do a back to back comparison with C1, and I could not even get close to the noise reduction even if I disregarded any effort to retain detail. And I could not get the detail out of C1 even if I disregarded noise. How DXO managed to do what it does with both noise reduction and detail retention/enhancement is beyond me. It’s been a huge surprise. Mark, has said in a prior video that with current noise reduction software any extra noise from the A9iii is effectively not an issue, and I have to agree. This also makes me feel that such software may help support greater amounts of cropping than we may have been used to in the past. Also worth Keeping in mind that while the MP’s may double between A9iii & A1/A1 mk2, that this is not a doubling of the horizontal & vertical resolution, so the amount of extra cropping may not be as much as first thought. Granted, many may consider every extra bit of ‘cropability’ that they can get as crucial. Also keep in mind that I think that A1 mk2 specs are only rumours so far, aren’t they?
Good luck with your photo submissions, Mark! Fingers crossed for you. Sony better update the A1 M2 body to the A9 M3 body or something similar, hugely disappointed if they don’t. Are you using your 6700 much any more?
🙏 I find it difficult operating two bodies . Unfortunately "Camilla & I" are not on a Game Drive. I may have to P/X the A6700 for the A1 mark 2 . Purely not enough use and the ergonomics are so good on the A9III 🤔
I don't think you need to replace it. Today I have just binned 2,000 long distance Red Kite shots with the A9III. You just have to get close enough to the action. I don't think any of the 2,000 shots would have been keepers with the Sony A1 2. And I wouldn't have taken more set on 60FPS thank goodness 🤔
If I am honest I do not see it coming this year ,I believe the a75 comes first and Sony has slowed up of late 2 lens release one a remake of the mk1 85mmf1.4 and 24-50mm f2.8 and a vlogging camera ,but all manufacturers are suffering with getting parts etc globally look at canons r5mk2 release people are still waiting
Sounds feasible although the A1 still deserves a firmware update if it is good enough I will keep it as a second cam and trade in my a7rv for the A1mk2
To what gear rumors & gossip? Nothing on Sony’s website yet. If available to customers by spring 2025, it will be 4 years. From what I hear about the keeper rate of the A1, I doubt anything else will yield one a better photographer but I’m still shooting a 8 year old Dslr with not much to say about the af on it. So what the heck do I know?
@@thomastuorto9929 yeah, Sony Rumours is at least tantalising if you are a Sony shooter, for sure. They are usually not too far away from the truth, & if they don't get it right, its still a bit of fun to speculate. I was using a DSLR for over a decade before I tried Mirrorless. I hate to say it, but it really is an advancement. From 2008-2017 I was shooting with a Canon 5D2, fantastic camera in its day. I had been waiting for Canon to being out a 5D with an articulated LCD, but grew tired of waiting. Sony launched the A7R3 at the end of 2017, I tried it at a show, including mounting my Canon EF lens on the Sony via a Sigma adapter, & subjectively, it focused my EF lens better than my 5D2 could. When you think that this involved 3 different manufacturers equipment all talking to each other, that is an amazing achievement. It meant I coulkd buy a sony body & an adapter & just shoot with my Canon lenses. Over the years I've bought a few Sony Native lenses, but I still adapt my Canon lenses from time to time.
Great news it is rumoured to have the same body as the A9III "HOORAY" 👏
Great videos mate and I'm looking forward to the Sony announcement. Also, rocking the smock!!!
You and me both! Awesome

With the Sony a1 II being a 30fps camera, would you still choose it instead of the Sony a9 III?

Looking sharp, Sir!

It does get some laughs, but it is great in Winter and it only cost 50p at a Car Boot . One of the best presents from my better half 😉

do Sony name their cameras after roads ?
🙂🤔😉🖐
It better have animal/bird eye af in video and focus bracketing for stills, I’m still annoyed they haven’t added this to the current A1.
Thanks for sharing. It is amazing how far behind they are with the A1. But I presume they know whats coming 🤔🙂
I like my a93 to much to replace it.

It's the A1 mark 2 over the A9iii all day long - as a bird photographer.
I think that is a given with Precapture and 60fps
Erm, Mark, should you not change the name of your channel every time you get a new camera? They can’t all be called Camilla…..
Well I tend to have one at a time and normally the latest model, a sort of face lift, so Camilla never ages 😉
