    In US Doctrine, Artillery is one of the chief warfighting functions. It's so important it's known as Fires. I was a 19K Abrams Tanker and have had great times working with our Artillery guys. A combined Battalion attack is super impressive to see, each type of Soldier working together all under the protective umbrella of Arty. Also in US Army service, the slang term for Artillery Soldiers is "Red Legs" taken from the old dress uniform which featured a large vertical red stripe on their trousers.

    Just got finished with a Command Post Technician back in August, got the chance of actually putting that knowledge that I've learned to use during fire planning using Mortars. It was pretty cool, hectic, but cool.

    I wanna join, but l think l'm too old currently (27) for the active duty, so l may settle for the reserves eventually. Not as an Artillery Soldier necessarily, but in the forces for sure.

    • @SuperVarunan
      @SuperVarunan 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Canada does not have active duty, that is an American thing. There is full time (regular force) and part time (primary reserve force). Pres is different than American reservists in the sense that you train A LOT more often than US reservists. You are no where close to too old for the CF, reg or res force. There have been 50 year olds who have passed bmq

      @baddriversofmoosejaw8681 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @-- That's true. I'm 37. Applied back in May and just heard back yesterday. They didn't call before and weren't doing interviews, due to Covid-19 and are now doing them over the phone. They want to interview me this Friday. The Reserves are probably best anyway, since they haven't been called into combat since World War II. They're a last resort basically and also often get called in for disaster relief. Canadian soldiers in World War II and today are still the most highly trained in the world. Even the US Marines receive less training than our troops.
