Earl Campbells jersey being torn off is the most badass RB highlight I've ever seen.
I don't know, Houston had lame jerseys. But that's the part of what made Campbell different. He always destroyed his uniforms, not just his jersey. Alot of times his pants.

I love watching Derick Henry run the ball. It’s like getting in a time machine and watching football played in time when it was more violent on both sides of the ball.

Yea and it's really not even close. I've never seen anyone as ferocious as Campbell. That run where he has his jersey ripped off and headbutts that dude in the chest is the most savage shit ever.

MJD should be on this list. As a Jacksonville native I used to love watching him drag people down the field. He was tiny but super powerful. Like an ant.

@@moalston4203 you're right. His center of gravity was very low, especially with his legs being so huge. That made him very stable and because of that people had to wrap him up since arm tackling didn't work. That gave him the advantage because they basically had to commit to a spot and dive towards him. He would then just keep running until you were on the ground and he'd drag dudes to the flag. It was something to watch. I was at the game where he combined with Fred Taylor for 500yrds. Helluva game

At auburn in 03 they had Brandon Jacob's behind Ronnie brown and Cadillac Williams, almost as wild as the Miami rb rooms in 2001 through 2003 with Clinton Portis Willis McGahee and frank gore and najei davenport for those who remember him with the packers

I’m glad they mentioned Marion Motley! Even though he played back in the late 40’s and early 50’s for the brownies. He often gets overshadowed by Jim Brown. But he was an offensive lineman playing full back and nobody could bring him down at all. He was the first of his breed! The original beast mode!

Marion The Barbarian was who I watch as a kid growing up and man did I love watching him. It was like every time he touched the ball he was going to dish out punishment to anyone who wanted it. It’s honestly sad to see what happen to him after the NFL.

Sam "Bam" Cunningham? He was the headliner for one of the greatest rushing attacks in NFL history: the 1970s Patriots.
I remember that play of Bettis running over Urlacher in the snow for the TD. One of the last games of his career and he was still running through hall of famers

@Zachias Noble Franco Harris was teased for running out of bounds. In those days running backs tried to get extra yardage. Franco started the running out of bounds trend. In hindsight it prolonged his career.

That run vs pats to avoid safety in 2007 was insane
John Riggins is so underrated. The majority of his career he was underused or as in George Allen's case used as a blocking back. He rushed for more yards in his 30's than he did in his 20's. With the right coach and system he could have retired as the all time leading rusher.

Recency bias!! Both great backs! If you think they could carry the load of 30 carries a game, AND score TDs like Walter or Jim Brown? You are just a fan. Sorry. Modern backs are not allowed to carry a team (not their fault). RB's will become few and far between in the HOF, going forward.

I always get hype when a back looks for the contact instead of going out of bounds. ALL THE SMOKE
That's one of the reasons that one of my favorite backs to watch was Trent Richardson even tho he didn't do well at the next level. That dude would go out of his way to initiate contact lol he was so much fun to watch at Alabama.
Otis Anderson. Cost the Cards a playoff spot in the mid-eighties because he wanted to run over a DB instead of step out of bounds. I was angry and full of admiration.

When he was at ND The Bus and Ricky Waters were a great one two punch. They were on TV every week of course. I'll never forget a TD run he had where when he got near the goal line and took a head shot that knocked him out while falling into the end zone. It might be somewhere on TH-cam.

I'm aware of the fact that most of the people who have an opinion or even an agenda raves over the run out of bounds backs they have watched over the years. But let me say that Jim Brown has no equal in running the ball. All the clothes lines, horse collars, and illegal hits he ran into and out of was absolutely unbelievable. 8 time All Pro, 3 time NFL MVP. Give him his due, the GOAT!

My boy Bill Brown was in this video. No idea he would have the recognition. Also didn't realize Adrian Peterson would be in this video but it makes sense.
I grew up near Pittsburgh so I always rooted for the home team, but those Vikings teams back in the late 60s/early 70s were totally tough as nails. Very underrated and a shame they couldn't get a ring or two.
I can remember seeing Bill Brown, Joe Kapp, Carl Eller, Page, Paul Krause, Fran the Man....and a lot of those memories were from before the games were played in the domes. The mud and ice/snow games were so common back then. I can remember when except for the local sports news on the 3 or 4 TV stationswe had, the ONLY......I'll repeat that.....the ONLY NFL coverage back then was "This Week in the NFL". One hour a week! That was it! And that show was so different from the zillions of shows on TV and online we have now.....and so much more awesome. Nothing but gritty highlights backed with world class theatrical narration, stirring classical music, slow motion close-ups, and fantastic cinematography. Some great memories...and so much great film on the Vikings back then.

Great List missing some great runners though, Ricky Williams, Priest Holmes, Shaun Alexander, Deuce McAlister, Edgerrin James, Maurice Jones-Drew. Almost every running back from my era as kid was a powerback highlight machine lol

As a Steelers fan, when TEN & PIT were in the AFC Central, I HATED goin' against George & McNair (R.I.P). What helped Eddie so much, besides skill, was his height. U don't see RB's that big, that fast, but also THAT TALL!! He'd keep his legs movin' no matter how u tried to tackle him.
The OGs like Marion Motley, Bronco, Taylor, and Jim Brown are all the more impressive when you remember that defenses were free to blast them before, during, and after the play. No restrictions like today. They just handled it and kept going, and going, and going.
Agree I don't know about the others you mentioned but I do know that when the Jim Brown played the opponent's almost exclusive goal was to stop him-he was beaten up in in the pileups after being tackled-the Giants feared him so much that they assigned MLB Sam Huff to follow him on every play, whether or not he had the ball, out of fear he might get it
@@jerrygoldfarb7739 the game was definitely rougher but the players were so much smaller. Not Huff or Butkus of course...but generally speaking even D-linemen were only 250 lbs

If I had to pick an all-time backfield.... that would one of the toughest things to consider. Currently, I think I'd take Jim Brown as my full-back and Barry Sanders as my half-back. But it would be hard to pass up on Bo Jackson and Gayle Sayers. There are just too many great combinations you could have.

Keep an eye out for Green Bay runningback AJ Dillon. He's gonna be splitting carries with Jones this season. He's built like a brick shit house. I think he's gonna be another great power back.
Christian Okoye was an unstoppable BEAST until he met up with Steven Atwater and was stopped in his tracks for the first time. He never seemed to be the same after.

Okoye ran through that Denver defense more times than most can count. That tackle Atwater made was ONE of many great hits. Like any power back Okoye had been stopped before. That hit took place on Monday night when the world was watching. The constant hits to his knees ended his career NOT the Atwater hit.

Christian Okoye was a absolute beast. Only guy who blasted him was Steve Atwater. Okoye just shook everyone else off like nothing. I think Harvey Williams was the other guy in that Chiefs backfield.

I remember watching Steeler games with my dad in "The Bus" era. If the Steelers had the lead with 6 or 7 minutes left in the game, you could pretty much bank on them grinding it out on the ground and running out the clock. It wasn't flashy, but it was awesome in it's own way.
