- Ryo Saeba (aka the City Hunter), is a private detective in the city of Tokyo. Together with sidekick Kaori Makimura, Ryo is hired by actress Emi Makaze to find her long lost brother. The woman’s brother turns out to be “The Professor”, a dillusional ex-soldier who’s planing to destroy the Shinjuku district of Tokyo. Kaori is assigned to guard Emi, but they both get caught up in the Professor’s scheme. The City Hunter must save them, without allowing downtown Tokyo to be destroyed.

I only like the City Hunter movie series with the character designer Sachiko Kamimura, who had done the character design for the City Hunter TV series.
Except for City Hunter '91, which was character design by Hiroshi Koujina, who was also both the animation director and the key animation in some of the franchise but not City Hunter 3 unfortunately.
Keiichi Satō was the next character designer for the franchise in City Hunter: Death of the Vicious Criminal Ryo Saeba shortly after the movie City Hunter: Goodbye My Sweetheart.
Sachiko Kamimura's character designs make the characters young and cool in the 20s.
Keiichi Satō's character designs make the characters older and wiser in the 30s or the 40s.
Sachiko Kamimura is still the number one greatest character designer of the entire City Hunter franchise series.
Joe (Ryo), Sandra (Saeko) and Kori (Kaori) are my kind of favorite character.
Joe (Ryu is his actual name) Sabre proper cracks me up with his perverted antics. I saw the Jackie Chan version and loved it, but I was told that the character had to be toned down on Mr Chan's request. Watched this and was blown away. It's a shame the animated show wasn't shown in U.K. Several episodes including this was released on VHS though
Not to worry as you can watch the French version and the new movie this year we're both of them are not tone down on Ryo's antics.

This is City Hunter Motion Picture. It was never called Good Bye sweetheart. I've an original copy. Sub titled in english. The 5th television episode was called Good Bye. Because Joe lost his partner. Also Joe dose love kori but because of his line of work he dosen't want her to love him because he might get killed and that would hurt her beyond words could say. Check out city hunter. 357 magnum. It explains why Joe dosen't want kori to fall in love with him
It's also pretty clear in the manga, which I will always recommend because the art is gorgeous and the story is both tremendously funny and heartwarming when it's serious.

Yeah... Kaori is pretty crazy. Sometimes I don't know who's more dangerous, the Professor or her.
This is the last City Hunter movie 🎬 series to be dubbed for the English version by the people of ADV Films before they defunct years later.
The voice actors of ADV Films reprised their roles for the last time.
Some of their voices have changed after the previous English dubbed City Hunter films 🎥.

Pretty enjoyable movie overall. Even if some parts are goofy as hell. But its a pretty fun ride.
Although I speak English (Born in the US) I prefer the Japanese version with English Subtitles. Love to hear their voices and reactions.

In the anime. In the manga, most of her hammers come out because Ryo is getting to REALLY serious levels of sexual harrassment. In many pics, women are literally running away from him, screaming to be left alone. In the manga, Kaori can be tender, and is extremely loyal towards Ryo, gets constant training to get better... and hammers him most of the time because he's bordering illegal behaviour (such as peeping on clients, attacking clients at night, getting into the women's dressing rooms of every public place he enters, harassing nurses at hospitals until they run away screaming to be left alone, etc). In the anime she's only jealous, in the manga she shows jealousy screaming, but uses the hammer when in many cases it's warranted because Ryo is being an ass straight into committing crime.

Saeko deserves the big important role parts in this motion picture as Ryo partner instead of just always Kaori all the time.
Saeko could've been more helpful throughout the entire series, let alone return the favor to Ryo for all he had done for her.
But sometimes Saeko usually should and watch helplessly as Ryo and the others stop the bad guys and prevent the tragedy that is about to happen or will happen.
In the end, Saeko always watches from the sidelines of what might happen or will happen as always.

Its called "The Motion Picture" in the US. But in Japan its called "Goodbye My Sweetheart". I find the former rather odd since there has not been one, but MANY City Hunter movies. And this isn't even the first one.

This was life or death for the people of Shinjuku as Ryo and Kaori tried to disarm the bomb 💣 on the runaway train 🚆 from destroying Shinjuku with everybody and everything with it.
No God awaits them after their deaths!
But in the end, Kaori stops the bomb 💣 thanks to Ryo's pervert advice.
Kaori deserves to be called City Hunter.
Takeaki died as he realized that he had lost both the battle and the war after seeing Emi's smile 😃 for the last time.
Everybody reactions was overjoyed when they found out that Shinjuku is save once more.

After the ending credits, the people of Shinjuku are celebrating 🍾 all night 🌙 long all over the city.
The reactions of Unibozu, Miki, and Saeko were revealed after the end credits even though their reactions has never revealed after Kaori stopped ✋️ the bomb 💣 on the train 🚆 from destroying Shinjuku and before the credits started rolling.
Saeko never did show up to join the celebrate 🍾 at the party with Ryo and the others, but she did appear on one of the cassette tapes with Kaori and Miki at the end.
It makes u wonder though...how would city hunter get along...with beam bandit! Or even...Frank castle...the Punisher!

Dispite the catchy ending theme...this movie was above all...kinda dumb.
It was dumber then i thought.
The manga is much better. The anime is better too, but not as good as the manga. This movie is very flanderized, indeed.
