Faster growing trees are not stronger. Tighter rings are stronger than wide rings. There's a reason we look for tight rings on hickory axe handles... they don't break nearly as easy as wide (fast growing) rings.

I normally flush my logs straight away, but go for it mate, whatever floats your boat i guess.
