At least we can all agree that DBS super hero looks far better now than it did months ago. Sorry, but the Toei hack provided timw for the movie to look greater than most of the dragon ball episode, with the exception of some iconic moments.
I'm not a big fan of 3D animation when it comes to anime series but this new movie of Dragon Ball Super definitely looks great. But I really prefer Yuya Takahashi and Tadayoshi Yamamuro's style. In my opinion, every Dragon Ball film should have their style.
Redrawn are 10 times better! My favorite style is that of the Broly film, it seems to me the best compromise of all. Masaki Sato's style is also incredible, it creates a nostalgia with the most beautiful fights of the past. Great Artworks! Great job!
Seeing these drawings further proves how far we have fallen. I really miss the old school artistic style of Dragonball Z. The Buu Saga had some of the best artwork ever made. It had a realistic crispness that can't be mimicked by 3d animation
the fucking pepe screaming during the Yuya Takahashi section had me laughing my ass off. I'm really excited for this film, an interesting experiment with art style (I've always wanted DBZ in 3D to be a thing) and a small scale story focusing on less powerful characters. Two things i've been, looking forward to for years.
i think 3d and 2d together can make some really cool visuals. like in Arcane where they use 2d effects to make the cg art pop and make it more interesting to look at.
I'm deeeeply skeptical of the 3D route they're taking and this amazing video just deepens my concern. No doubt translating to 3D is difficult and the people making it are extremely talented, still, talent and hard work are never enough to salvage a bad idea. I guess we'll see.

A lot of people don't like the 3D style, but me personally, i actually really like it.
i like how gohan is going to look in this film, he looks like teen gohan combined with the gohan we have right now
No he doesn't. He looks like current gohan....

Can we all agree that dragon ball super broly’s art is the most high quality and the most high saturated dragon ball art work that has ever existed
*SO* glad to see you back on this, I really really appreciate you guys! I was so worried about you Mark, glad you're able to do this.
bruh Street fighter 3 Select character theme was LIT
At least we can all agree that DBS super hero looks far better now than it did months ago. Sorry, but the Toei hack provided timw for the movie to look greater than most of the dragon ball episode, with the exception of some iconic moments.
But, They weren't working when after the toei hack took place. Afaik, they couldnt while everything was being investigated by officials.
Love the 3rd strike OST in the background, always bangs.
I just wanted to say here that I absolutely love both 2D and 3D mediums equally.
The OG Super style is just 👌. BEST style of animation, good shading and more detailed colors.
It had a realistic crispness that can't be mimicked by 3d animation
you say that like the cgi is bad
“can’t be mimicked”
Correction: hasn’t yet. Things like Arcane show it’s more than possible
Acting like Broly doesn’t exist
9:00 and 10:47 both look legit from same episode. Great work guys.
the fucking pepe screaming during the Yuya Takahashi section had me laughing my ass off. I'm really excited for this film, an interesting experiment with art style (I've always wanted DBZ in 3D to be a thing) and a small scale story focusing on less powerful characters. Two things i've been, looking forward to for years.
These redrawing videos are something else.
I’m very looking forward to seeing this, the 3d animation actually looks very good. 🐉
1:56 OOOH I love the 3rd Strike music. Whoever edited this, wonderful job.
i think 3d and 2d together can make some really cool visuals. like in Arcane where they use 2d effects to make the cg art pop and make it more interesting to look at.
The last Goku drawing is the best Goku drawing I have ever seen in my life that's amazing.
I'm deeeeply skeptical of the 3D route they're taking and this amazing video just deepens my concern. No doubt translating to 3D is difficult and the people making it are extremely talented, still, talent and hard work are never enough to salvage a bad idea. I guess we'll see.
Beautiful Redraws, Loved It And That Streets Of Rage 4 OST At 6:14 ❤️
Toriyama artstyle can and looks incredible in 3d, just look at Dragon Quest 11 and DB FighterZ, I'm really linking what I saw from the movie and can't wait to see the final product
db fighterz is a videogame...
@@flansexovich7757 you do realize that you can do entire movies in Unreal engine 4/5 since what they are simply a 3d software or do you not know what ingame cinematic are? 3d assets and CGI are basically the same loke my exemple of DQ11 still stands it's Toriyama artstyle recreated in Unreal 4 and the game and it's cinematic are gorgeous
@@maximegiroux4143 dude, it's imposible to make a 3d animation at the same quality level than 2d
@@flansexovich7757 yeah since they are completly diferent animation style and that one style can't dostuff that the other can. I've been way more impress by 3d animation in recent years (Arcane, Into the Spider-verse, Mihoyo honkai impact shorts) than by anything 2d.
You'd surprise how many great Sakuga moments in anime are actually 3d or at least enhance the visual with 3d.
2d has been around for the last 100 years and 3d for 30 something years and it's evolving by leaps and bound and 2d is a relatively dying art and cost waaay more to produce.... wich one do you think will be more cost effective for a multibillion company like Toei?
@@maximegiroux4143 At the end of the day the only thing in what cgi is superior to 2d animacion is in term of cost but, honestly for the fans like you and me we don't care a shit if cgi is cheaper, we want to have a quality product
Mark I've always loved your videos, but the 3rd Strike character select screen just made my night.
11:15 is beautiful and literally has me thinking if 2d animation would’ve been better for the movie
True
But props to toei for trying to do something new
They tried to go full 3D for the first time, and it didn't work. The movie looks like a video game
This looks so much more appealing!
4:00 I have literally No Idea how *Manga artists did this every week*
2:00, you spoil me too much. I love the SF3 music.
3:00, Gohan looks so cool with his Mystic Gi and Turban from his Cell Games days. So cool. This is the Gohan we need.
Such a good video. Nice job, ma man.
I wonder how Yamamuro’s style would’ve been depicted by the fans had it had the Tarble special coloring
You guys did a superb job. I love watching you draw Dragonball characters considering it’s a style I consistently struggle with.
I actually really like how the movie looks everything sorta just looks right. I still like 2D better but I don’t think this looks bad from what we’ve seen.
Wow Trevs redraw of Vegeta was *super* accurate, loved that
AJAY was the best drawing here.💀
Trev's DBS Vegeta was awesome! It looked like a literal anime shot!
Ever thought of drawing newer scenes of other long running series in their older art styles?
For example, Wano One Piece in East Blue art style
That sounds pretty awesome actually.
Another example is Boruto in OG Naruto's art style.
Series like Bleach, JOJO, Lupin III and Berserk would all be great, since each one went through 4 or more artstyle changes each over the course of their runs (with franchises like Lupin III containing at least a dozen different artstyles), and some are still undergoing changes today.
Oh yeah that would look weird but cool. Also would have to choose between anime and manga
Dude, your Gohan was INSANELY good!!!
* 6:39 Giga-Trev
The talent here is insane!
I was extremely skeptical at first, but now that I've seen all of the trailers I gotta be real: the CG animation looks fantastic
I actually liked the big open mouth version of Gohan you briefly drew the most. Felt the most natural looking for dbz
Why does piccolo looks like he about to turn in to a titan
Every single one of you did your thing! Super Saiyan2 Gohan was phenomenal! 10/10!
I'm very curious to know what's the filter applied to the final product of the first Gohan drawing. The one you had to draw with a 1 pixel thick brush
Saw it and this is seriously the best looking dragonball movie ever. Like this is the best a lot of the characters have looked. I don't know how it's a debate.
