    "People don't trust these science magazines anymore, they don't trust medical institutions"
    In this episode, Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Michael Shermer delve into the importance of scepticism and transparency. They discuss Michael’s own work in this field, both as prolific science writer and publisher of Skeptic Magazine. From woke-ism in science, to freedom of the press, to ‘blank slate’ theory, they cover all the bases to give a sharp analysis of contemporary Western culture.

      Not just science, but everywhere. For example, same-sex marriage. Who am I to argue against a same sex couple living together, getting the same benefits (tax breaks) and dangers (divorce) as opposite sexes. Why go after the churches to preform same sex marriages? As for Gay Pride and new 'sex ed' in schools there is a difference between acceptance and promotion. It's OK to wish your children to get married and have their own children. Just ask an evolutionary biologist.

      One more thing if you don't mind. ALL this crap is being promoted by women. It is female school boards, female curriculum experts, female social workers and counselors teaching and promoting this from K through 12. It is female librarians bringing in drag queens. It is female librarians putting porn in school libraries. It is female kindergarten teachers teaching 4 year olds to masturbate. It is female teachers transitioning these kids and not informing the parents. It is female professors teaching this crap in teacher training. It is female surgeons making tons of money on mutilation surgery and the endless continued treatment for infections, etc.
      So there is another thing to think about. The question in my mind is wtf is wrong with women? I mean women redrum at least one million "clusters of cells" every year ... 97% of which are for CONVENIENCE???. Women think that is their "right" to control their bodies. What? Eliminating someone elses body is not controlling your body, it is murdering the result of your irresponsible lust.
      If women could control your bodies, their lust, their slatternly character, women WOULD NOT NEED license to act like pest exterminators. Only 70 million people died in WW2 whereas women exterminate more humans than that EVERY YEAR.

    One way to call out the wokeists is to correct their language. They themselves say language is power, in that they are correct. So use it against them, and question what they mean when they say “People of colour”. Aske them do you include white people in that, given white is a colour just as much as black is? When you order a new iPhone and select the colour, ‘white’ is valid option. If you drive a white van then the colour of your vehicle is ‘white’.
    So please explain what you mean.

      Something I find interesting is that currently, calling someone a "person of colour" is seen as being non-racist and "politically correct".
      But calling someone "coloured" is seen as being racist!.
      Yet the term "coloured" was originally introduced specifically because it was considered non-racist and "politically correct" and to replace "black" which "politically correct" people had decided was racist.
      I wonder how long it will be until POC is designated as being racist, and what new term will replace it.

    33:50 - With regard to a label to describe the woke perspective on human nature; from a philosophical perspective it's Cartesian subjectivism - as opposed to, a largely unrealised Galilean/scientific objectivism.
    The idea of a 'blank slate' - or 'tabula rasa' is inappropriate. It was a concept employed (erroneously) by political theorist John Locke. It may serve descriptively, but doesn't speak to the correct philosophical tradition. Locke was an empiricist. Not a subjectivist.
    Empiricism focuses on objective data gathered through observation and experimentation, aiming to establish truths based on empirical evidence.
    Subjectivism focuses on individual perception and interpretation, suggesting that there is no absolute truth outside of one's own experience.
    To use the term blank slate would be to conflate philosophical traditions, and confuse the issue. Rather, you might use the term 'solipsist' as an accurate, and pejorative description; an extreme form of subjectivist idealism that describes a state of knowing nothing but oneself.
    Trans is a subjectivist denial of the objective reality of biological sex in the social construction of gender; leapt upon by subjectivist scholars when a Dr Money transitioned a boy named David Raimer in the 1960's, and wrote up his findings; claiming that gender is a social construct, years before everything for David Raimer turned very ugly indeed.
    Surgically altered, and raised as a girl from infancy - in theory David should have 'been' a girl; but his biological sex reasserted itself in adolescence, and long story short, he ultimately took his own life.
    But by then, Dr Money, and the subjectivist scholars had run with the idea, and they didn't look back to see the human wreckage in their wake.
    Also, kind of solipsistic. The same state of mind a mediocre athlete must adopt when setting records in the women's league - the idea there's nothing beyond themselves.
    Solipsists!

    Many intellectuals were so sheltered in NYC and LA that they are now surprised but this has been happening for decades. I noticed college graduates in the early 2000's were using buzz words that made me worry- where were they picking up these concepts? An early one was "people want to be dealing with people (whether doctor, lawyer, police) that look like them." But even in the 1980's most English professors had us read stories universally critical of the US experience. In the NYC public schools in the 1980's we had self-admitted communists as HS teachers. Many of my graduate degree teachers in economics were professed socialists. It is a minor point but when OJ Simpson got off on murder BECAUSE he was black and the assumption was that the police were racist and the media was OK with this. Narrative has been trumping truth for many years now.

      People who believe in science know there are two sexes, female (XX) and male (XY) - in terms of genitalia and other features, exceptions are rare and do not disprove the 'rule' (XX vs. XY).
      Some people are more formed by social relationships, and science knowledge is optional or unnecessary in their lifestyle. These people feel free to define male and female as genders, vague and flexible terms that can mean whatever the speaker/writer wants them to mean, and they enjoy trying to force others to use terms the ways they approve of. (E.g., Are you "cis-gender," or do you refuse to use a term like that? )
      Unfortunately, the less rational, socially oriented, woke folks seem to be winning lately in the culture wars, with the hyper-rational, scientific people as a less powerful minority. Hopefully, truth will win in the end (and post-modernism is wrong, "truth" is not a foolish outdated idea).

    "She's pretty woke." This IS what DEI hiring is about. It's always been a motte-and-bailey. You're supposed to think it involves hiring "people of color", etc. (which is racist and illegal), but it's actually about hiring cadres--using the Maoist definition here. These cadres are trained in the literature of woke scholarship, and are there solely to turn the organization into a tool of the revolution.

    • @jondevaney6860
      @jondevaney6860 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It is not a matter of intelligence ("moron"), it involves a power struggle: some people are trying to control and manage public discussions, pressuring and intimidating others into conformity with a particular view of agenda. If you touch someone's sacred cow, expect to receive their wrath, and then do the work to refute their foolishness.

    • @RenegadeContext
      @RenegadeContext 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @jondevaney6860 two things can be true. Most people with bad ideas aren't bullies but they are unintelligent. I don't think any has ever considered child abuse a "sacred cow"

      They assume an explanation of a contributing cause of evil somehow justifies and excuses the perpetrator. Unfortunately, this attitude helps perpetuate evil in the world. No amount of water could have stopped the fire after it was raging through the community, so the water shortage wasn't significant, Putin's attack was unprovoked and if you don't agree, you supported the invasion, etc. Until the reason so many turn into perverts and abuse children is understood, the problem will continue to get worse.

    an excellent dialogue!!
    it should be noted that: it is very a recent development that Europe has "evolved" to considered itself a bastion of moral turpitude and respect of women's rights/physical autonomy/safety. the idea of the culture of southern European/Mediterranean males (spain/italy/greece/france) who treated women as "sheep fat" was so popularly known and accepted as to become a well used artistic trope in mainstream music, films and even in children's cartoons, exemplified by characters like "Pepe le Pew"! until relatively recently these European "ogling", "wolf whistling", "bottom pinching" objectifiers of women were even romanticized and lionized in media as the "latin lovers". just saying...

One of the things I know about is the use of UFOs in Roswell as a cover story to cover the training of the Luftwaffe in the 1950's . Training our west German allies had skeptics after a major war with Germany. UFOs was a cover story to misdirect questions.
