Whitney, your video brought back so many memories of my youngest daughter’s first pregnancy! She had all kinds of blood pressure issues and was also working at the time! One day while at work during a meeting one of her coworkers looked at her and said ‘Jill you don’t look good you should go home’! She called her best friend and she followed her home! When her husband got home he said I’m taking you to the hospital! Well, the next few hours the whole family waited in the hospital to hear how she was doing and my son in law came and would update us! She was 36 weeks pregnant! The last time he came you could see the anguish on his face and said ‘they’re doing an emergency C-section immediately! No one could talk we were all so scared! We could’ve lost her if not for the amazing doctors who rushed to get my grandson out! I was the only one allowed in the recovery besides my son in law and it was a scary site to see how bad she looked! She had preeclampsia and remained in the hospital for a few days…. I thank God she made it and my grandson is almost 12 now! ❤
Thank you for bringing this to the attention of all the ladies that are pregnant or may become pregnant and need to hear it! It broke my heart to see you cry and how scared you must’ve been…..
God bless you! Henry is precious and so is Finn!

Whitney, thank you for taking the time to update your craft buddies. We care as much about you as you do about us! Give Henry and Finn a hug and a BIG thank you to your husband and mom from me.
I also had pre-eclampsia but while I was pregnant. My choice was a hospital stay until the baby was born or my daughter [2 1/2 yo] had to have someone else take care of her. My mother came and took my daughter home with her while I was on home bed rest. Pre-eclampsia is very scary and I am so glad that you did get the help you needed and that you are on the road to recovery. All the raging hormones after birth plus the holidays, plus a hospital stay. Good grief girl, it's a miracle you are not a pile of goo!

I'm so glad you're okay! Women tend to think "I just get pregnant and have a healthy baby." There are so many things that can go wrong with both baby and mother. I worry about my grand daughters while they're pregnant. I don't want to tell horror stories, but sometimes some really scary things happen. I had a friend who was pregnant with twins, lost one of them and then lost the other baby and she died in the process. I'm so thankful that you shared your story so that other young moms will pay close attention to how they feel. Again, thank goodness you're okay and welcome to the world, Henry! Take good care of yourself -- and Alex, Finn, Henry and Sebastian. Best wishes to you and your family.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I'd never heard of postpartum preeclampsia until seeing this video. I knew about preeclampsia during pregnancy. That had to be so hard being away from your newborn and family for two days. So sorry for the pain you went through on top of being away from your family. Glad you are doing better.
Glad you are taking time to be with your boys, it's a precious time. My son was 5 when my daughter was born. I was very thankful I had time with them. I remember when people would ask me "won't you be thankful when they are past this stage" my answer was always no. I treasured every stage, they only go through it once.
I asked several older moms if there was anything they would have done differently, pretty much all of them stated " they would have spent more time with them. Some stating "play/give them attention when they ask" another one was "the housework will always be there, your children won't, they will become adults. My house was clean enough to be healthy, but messy or cluttered sometimes. My son is 23 and my daughter is 18. My son moved out not long after he turned 18 (that was rough, but probably tough at any age). My daughter still lives at home and most likely will for a bit. I prayed for your continued healing and blessings for you and your family.
    Congratulations 🎉

I had three children by vaginal delivery, all in their mid to late 30's. The first was 9lb 11oz, the second 10lb 1oz and my last was 8lb 12oz. My last was delivered with the cord around the neck and the wait to hear a cry was excrutiating! As the years go by these terrifying moments will fade, and it will be just a small sentence in their lifes beginnings. Congratulations on your Joyous blessing!

I had postpartum preeclampsia too back in 2018. It’s so scary, and I’m thankful my doctor was keeping a close watch to my symptoms after I delivered (I gained 8lbs of water weight after delivery and needed Lasix to help with this as outpatient). More people need to know about postpartum preeclampsia!!!! I had a C-section and my symptoms presented 8 days after delivery, and like you, I was in the ER with high blood pressure, and I was readmitted to the L&D floor. It’s a journey getting weaned off the BP medications (like months long). Be watchful of lows in your BP in the coming weeks as your hormones slowly normalize. I had many reductions in my medication dosages because you don’t want to get too low either. So glad you’re doing better. 🙏🏻

Congratulations Whitney!!! Henry is adorable! Finn looked sooo cute holding him. I also went through hell n back with my first child, Ethan. I was 17, my blood pressure was 150/100 at my last OB appointment so Dr. sent me to Labor n Delivery to be induced. Nothing progressed on first day so they stopped pitocin n said he would break my water in morning. Next morning, mind you I was 3 cms for 3 weeks at that point at 37 weeks, Dr. came in broke my water. I had epidural, made it to 9 1/2 cms n pushed a few times and after 11 hrs of being in labor n no luck with pushing, Dr. decided c-section. I felt them cutting me n screamed so they put me out. My son had complications as well after. Spent a week in hospital n tons of crying n postpartum after. I feel your pain. God bless! You will get through this. Ethan will be 25 in March. Enjoy your bundle of joy! ❤

I've never heard of postpartum preeclampsia. I had it before my first baby and had a doctor that didn't diagnose it. His partner came into the room, took the original OB into a room across the hall. You could see a lot of yelling and hand waving from both of them. The second doctor came back, took over my case, and took me for an emergency C-section. I was out in a private room and was in the hospital for 5 days. The first OB lost his license a few years later with no explanation, but he obviously had other serious issues. Second baby, new doctor, no issues. I'm glad your doctor explained everything thoroughly and everything worked out well. Henry is a handsome little boy.❤

We had a local first mother that had been sick and went to her OB! He told her that her BP was a little high and she was too early for labor and to go home and rest in bed! She got sicker and her husband called the OB and was told he was on vacation! He carried her into the ER! The ER doctor was furious and got the on call doctor and he said she has the flu, she was told to rest! Through all of the time her BP was getting life threatening The ER doctor was so upset that no one was coming! Her OB said he wasn't worried! The ER doctor called around and got an anesthesiologist, two nurses with OB experience and told her husband and his family they have no time or both would die! He did his first C-section with the help of the nurses! The young mother was in a coma until they removed her from support and the baby survived! The OB's were sued and lost their licenses to practice! They were not allowed to discuss the suit but her father said no money would ever bring her back!

Whitney, first of all let me say congratulations!!! You have two adorable sons!! Secondly, I'm so thankful you realized something wasn't right and listened to your body. Thirdly, thank you so very much for sharing your story My daughter-in-law is expecting our first grandchild and was so sick for the first 3 months then seemed to level out. Now at almost 34 weeks she's having signs of pre-eclampsia. She'll now see her doctor twice a week for BP checks and ultrasounds with the goal of making it to at least 37 weeks. I've told her she should also document everything she's experienced because as a first time mom things can be very scary if you don't know what to expect and so many things just don't get talked about. Even as a mom that has been pregnant before there's still new things that can be encountered, as you talked about here. Once again, congratulations and thank you again for sharing your story!

Oh Whitney, so happy to hear that everyone is home, happy, and healthy. I had a similar experience: my baby boy didn't cry when he came out and I briefly held him (like 20 seconds) before they took him for about an hour to get him in the clear. I had no idea postpartum preeclampsia was thing until it happened to me either. Six days after delivery I went to the ER with high blood pressure. The only reason I went to the ER is because after I had my son, they stressed if you are experiencing certain symptoms, get to the hospital; but, they didn't say WHY. Thank you for sharing for others. You have a beautiful family. Enjoy this season, as you know, it goes by too quickly

First off, Henry has the absolute best birthday, December 20th. That is my birthday as well! Unfortunately, i am very familiar with your story as the same thing happened to me 14 years ago with my first son. It is scary, and magnesium is no joke! They brought fans into my hospital room because i was burning up! I remember being so swollen that it hurt to even walk. I ended up having to be on blood pressure medicine for almost 2 months, but everything worked out in the end. Jyst know that you are doing everything you need to do and soon things will all be good. Congratulations! I, too, have 2 boys and it is the absolute best!

Whitney, so glad you paid attention and went to the hospital, my blood pressure spiked after my first son, so they kept me in labor and delivery for almost day. I was only 19 and not at all educated about possible problems after the baby, thank goodness the doctors and nurses knew what to do. So glad Henry, love the family name, is doing well and now take care of yourself and your little ones. Kudos to Alex for being such a good Dad🤗

That is so scary! I had pre-eclampsia and had an emergency C-section to have my son 4 weeks early. He did great. My recovery was longer. I have never heard of postpartum pre-eclampsia either but will be letting women know about it now. So glad you and Henry are OK and the family is together now!

So sorry that you had to go through this. My daughter had pre eclampsia and had to deliver at 37 weeks. When she checked into the hospital her Blood pressure was 196/102. They tried everything to bring it down before doing the magnesium. She has fibromyalgia and was in sooo much pain! After 24 hours labor she hadn’t progressed passed 3 centimeters. She ended up delivering C-section and by that time she was so out of it and throwing up that she couldn’t even be cognizant of the baby’s birth.
I hope that everything is well with you now ❤

I was on magnesium for two days and it was honestly the worst thing ever. You are so right that it’s awful! Thank God you and your baby are both safe and healthy! ❤

Thank God, for HIS taking care n watching over u, during this trying time! Idk if u remember me, I met u at the pinners conference, in Fort Worth. I had magnesium with my first pregnancy, that was a terrible med to have, I had for premature labor. It made me hot, n I felt like I couldn’t breathe, comfortably. Horrible drug but gets the job done that needs to do!
Over Christmas, I kept thinking about u n your new son, but was wondering how y’all were doing. I really believe God was telling me to pray for y’all!
So happy to hear u are doing all better! I will continue to pray!

Praise God you got the care you needed. I was on magnesium during my first delivery. I had become very swollen at the end of my third trimester and wasn’t treated until my the beginning of my delivery. Between the magnesium and my epidural my labor practically stopped and they stopped my epidural and gave me petosin to restart my labor. It had already been 22 hours since my water broke so I was exhausted. Finally 15 minutes shy of 24 hours our baby girl was born.

And you. . .well, you survived a very scary adventure as a new mom with thanks for your mom’s TLC!! As “they” say, “It takes a village” and yours included Grandpa and all of your other guardian angels! So HAPPY you are now on this side of the trials and tribulations. Now you can settle in for some nesting and bonding with all 4 of your boys (can’t leave out Sebastian❣️❣️). Enjoy yourself and we’ll be waiting for you when YOU feel up to it and not before!! Blessings❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️

She too had to spend time in the hospital away from her newborn baby, that was really hard on her. The doctor told her she could still get thrown back into Preeclampsia for 6 months, that was new news to me.
I am thanking God that my granddaughter and great granddaughter are doing fine. I am thankful that God gave you that nudge and that you two are doing fine

I too had a SCH that thankfully went away before my 20 week anatomy scan. Your story resonates with me right now bc this pregnancy has been different from my last (also around 5 years ago)
My blood pressure has been teetering on high at my last couple appointments and the shortness of breath is real!

Whitney I am so happy for you and your family with arrival of Henry. Hearing what happened to you after was like hearing my own story but with a twist. I had severe preeclampsia at 25 weeks gestation. About a week or two prior my feet had started to swell, but my face and hands were normal. I called my doctor's office and was told to watch my salt and keep my feet elevated. It got to the point I could not fit into my normal shoes and had to get bigger shoes and take out the laces. One morning I woke up and the swelling had gone to my knee and I couldn't walk. I got in to see the doctor and they told me I had protein in my urine so I was admitted to my hospital, but then transferred to Evanston. I spent 1 week in the hospital and they informed me they were going to have to do a c-section. I understand what you mean about being in a state of oblivion. I believe God was protecting me. My daughter was born at 26 weeks at 1.5 lbs. I was put on magnesium right after and I was in such a fog. My daughter came home 2.5 months later weighting 3lbs 12oz. It was scary time, but we got through it and my daughter is now a thriving 28 yo. I'm so glad everything turned out ok. You are a great mom, so don't feel guilty you had to take care of yourself. Isn't that what they tell us on airplanes with the oxygen masks? Wishing you all the best. Praying that you all stay in good health.

My daughter’s birthday is also 12/20, and I know the terror you felt when Henry didn’t cry, because my girl was the same. She didn’t cry for almost 20 minutes while the NICU provider worked on her to get her breathing. The WORST 20 minutes of my life. Keep resting, keep healing, and remind yourself to slow down and just enjoy the newborn scrunch snuggles and the preschool love! The rest can wait. ❤

Omg Whitney what a whirlwind of an experience that you went through bringing Henry into this world. As a woman who could never have children I can't imagine how scary it was for you and leaving both of your children at home while you went through what you did. I'm grateful that you listened to your body and went to the hospital when you did and that you are on the mend. I am also a believer in signs and thankfully you are too! Both of your boys are very lucky to have you as their momma and I'm sure they are happy that you are back home loving on them.
