One more thing, gentlemen. Hexmark Destroyer. A Lone op which will give Szeras Lone op. It is insanely annoying bto deal with and if someone does go within 12 thaan hand him a free overwatch from the hexmark. Other than that the hexmark can do misions or serve as a last chance throwaway to save Szeras. Szeras is great vs gravis marines by the way. I had him go into erradicators and took out 2 in shooting and 4 in melee. How did assembly go btw? I remember I swore a lot when I was gluing my model togeather...
@@kiemenhund the hexmark gets a free overwatch through its inescapable death ability. And if a unit shoots at Szeras, it can return fire (multi-threat eliminator)
@@ItsMrZeth I assumed he meant that the Hexmark "hands out" a free overwatch to another unit, meaning that they can overwatch for free, which isn't the case. We're on the same page then.
Dad, you brought up a very interesting point and something that I have never considered before. You mentioned a 20 man blob of warriors and you wanted them to survive at least 3 rounds after all the points investment. Is there some sort of metric that you use to evaluate a units survivability versus its point cost? For example, this X unit cost 100 points and I expect it only to last one round but this unit Y is 300 points and I expect it to last 3 rounds. Certainly there's a lot more variables to factor in but what is your hot take on points cost vs life expectancy?
@@chadhenry76 that's a great question, son! Units have different roles - eg sometimes 5 deathmarks are a secondary scoring unit. They can score you 20pts, or sometimes only 5pts. Warriors are an anvil unit - meaning they are not great damage dealers but are durable. So in my mind, they need to hold a midboard objective for at least 2 turns to justify their points. That means they are scoring you up to 10pts and potentially denying your opponent primary.
@WorHammer40k This is what I get for using speech to text while driving to work LOL! Thank you again for the reply, Dan. It makes a lot of sense. I definitely need to pick up some units to score secondaries. I have looked into both deathmarks and tomb blades. Not sure what to take
Szeras was the original Necron. He invented the process of biotransference. He is literally the father of all Necrons in existence... He has lone operative because the other Necrons despise him for what he created. His abilities are such a good call back to his lore. He's also probably the most intelligent being in the universe...

@@WorHammer40k I was quite lucky I got an old elite edition starter set and the battle force box so I also have the overlord with translocation shroud so normally I don't like the limited range but I could have 12 inches of movement and use the strategem from the awakened dynasty to give the warriors assault so I close the gap with the overlord (translocation) and I can still shot. @@WorHammer40k thank you very much. Do you think you guys will revisit some units after you've done all the necron units like maybe an episode where you revisit 3 models or 5 of course some have changed a bit and others have not
He's the unit that made me consider going necrons instead of grey knights (and I didn't understand how to play grey knights). I love the buff to battleline units on top of a noble and cryptek you can add to warriors/immortals, I'm just not sure whether to go awakened dynasty or canoptek court.
It might be 175 points, but remember a Doomstalker is 145. Would I pay 30 more for him? Every. Single. Time! I love this guy, and he has made my warrior blob (with short range AP weapons) led by Chrono insanely tanky! I've had 8-bound run into them and do basically nothing, I've had Aeldari shooting go into them and also do basically nothing. You cover so much of the table, and get so much OC on objectives with this block, and Szeras can also heroic intervene if you want to.
Always include him in my Canoptek Immortal build, helps to maximise the Guass hits, and maybe worth a mention that the Canoptek Court have an ignore cover strat on an objective. Found it the only way I can tackle 2+ saves

I love how, while talking about countering him, you just find out ways to make him stronger 😂 Quick announcement. Today I won a game. Necron VS Ad MEC. Felt very good. My monolith was like Goku all over the battlefield, hyperphasing away and deep striking again where it hurts most to the enemy. Now, a question: with my Void Dragon, in hypercrypt legion and utilizing Cosmic Precision, I can deep strike it anywhere on the battlefield, am I right? Because the stratagem says “anywhere on the battlefield” but the data sheet doesn’t have the Deep Strike battle rules. I would leave the verdict to the expert.
