    I was a Game Master of the Fasa game back in 1989. When I bought it back then. I had no idea that I would enjoy it so much. Mind you this was back in my college days so me and my friends had Sunday evening games to star off the College week.
    Back then my crew started aboard the Remora class, U S S Atlantis. After 4 years ( and 4 types of ships ) of game progress and adventures the crew endend up aboard an Excelcior class ship. As a game master I found it fun when Captain Jhon Alan Slater threw me some curve balls on my games.

    Star TRACK RPG by FASA is best most complete TRACK RPG EVER!!!!! As a GM do you act out the villains??

      The GM is all things in the Universe that the players to not decide or control. The GM's power over the story goes way beyond the villains but in service of collaborative storytelling. A balance must be struck between the momentary social enjoyment of group activities and quality story creation; so players focus on one character with holistic dominion and the GM provides perceptions and arbitration as these characters 'boldly go'.

    I’ve just stumbled across this... I’m 38 now and used to play this so much with my two older brothers as a kid.
    Loved it! We went from using the cardboard coloured ship counters provided, then wanted epic space battles so we ordered a larger space main board, photo copied the ships and tactical sheets on mass and had 3 of us playing with numerous ships haha then the next step was the led models you could buy and paint which gave it another level.
    There were so many good immersive games back then! A few for Star Trek, Star Wars trench run and the judge dredd one was so good.
    Unfortunately life took over, brothers went to Uni, I joined the army... got older had brats and now the RPG days are over haha but so many amazing memories

    I played this a lot back in the late '80s and early '90s. Good times. Great thing, as opposed to computer games, is you can grab it and start playing right away, with no worry about whether it'll run on your computer.

      But will it run on your brain? I've heard they had some ridiculous calculations

    I can't tell if the "*suppository* of all knowledge" bit was a minor slip or a brilliant joke. Either way, great video! :D

    "If you remember the shows, they tried not to kill anybody."
    Cardassians and DS9 has entered the chat.

    I bet the Star Trek Tactical Combat Simulator Video was mine that you saw :). I played both it and the RPG when I was a teenager with my friends. We customized ships in the Simulator as you could balance ships mathematically in that system if wish (no rules for it but u probably could figure it out if wanted). On playing the RPG it was different as you say and RPG was nice element over other games... although when I played it I am sure we did not play the RPG correctly lol. We liked playing Klingon party back then... I would love to play the game again sometime in future. Perhaps I might do some videos relearning the game.. I want to incorporate somethings into the game for my own fun. I just need some free time lol. Loving your videos watching them while painting miniatures.

    Oh, Thomas, how many times do I have to tell you? "Track" is what a train goes on, okay? "Trek" is what the Enterprise goes on, okay?

      HAHAHA! You're a good sport and I enjoy your videos. I was a huge FASA Star Trek gamer back in the day...too bad I don't have all the material. Keep up the good work!

    Played Fasa Trek for years back in the 80s. Loved it. Thanks for the video. (btw, I have never in my life heard anyone say "tri-D" instead of "3-D", referring to Trek's 3-D chess or any other 3-D thing)

    • @AxidentalDM
      @AxidentalDM  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Daniel Strain Really, I said "tri-D?" Definitely a slip of the tongue then. I too have only heard it referred to as 3-D chess.

      Ah k, minor thing haha. Just wondering if there was a phrase I'd never heard of. Best wishes! :)

      Surprising that "trid" or "3V" never caught on, lol.

    I love rpg/larp. it is very fun and relaxing. as game master, I would create complicated continuities from many iterations of star trek, including fasa trek, prime universe trek, n Starfleet battles. I would even add non trek elements, like how would kirk handle first contact with the minbari. what would happen if picard met commander adama from battlestar galactica.

    A new Klingon G-8 Freighter apparently costs over 450,000,000 credits. _Simone DeLeone_ is a beat-up, worn old used ship with a dubious past (and a ship dealer eager to sell it) so maybe knock one or two hundred megacreds off the price. Still no chump change, seems unrealistic for the PCs (or their fallen-from-grace SFIC contact) would be "authorized" to spend so much buying some junky old freighter "for no particular reason". The game rules make a big deal everywhere else out of contracting and financing starship construction, even the smallest and dullest trading vessel (put to good use) still requires decades to pay off.

    Collect the system. RPG/Combat system. Haven't played since the late 90's. With NO minis to be found, I used the Micro Machines ships for the Combat sim

      I went to a local hackspace with openware starship models from the internet, got 20 little plastic starships (10 different kinds) within a few hours. Cost $10, lol. Some of the local "hackers" were, of course, avid Trek nerds (and proficient with CAD, Autodesk, Solidworks, Blender, etc) who enthusiastically improved model details and customized a few pieces. I planned to go back to get more ships but Trek starship wargames didn't end up generating enough lasting group interest.

    Section 31 agents?

    • @pwnmeisterage
      @pwnmeisterage 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The _Starfleet Intelligence Manual_ for this RPG does have new character generation rules, roles, skills, equipment, and missions for SFIC characters.
      But ... as always ... there is no Section 31.

    Pdfs of the entire game and every adventure module are crawling all over the internet, just FYI.

      Different jurisdictions have different laws about when written works can be added to the public domain, and we should follow the laws within each persons jurisdiction.

    half the time as a gm I just faked rolls, the idea is to progress the story, so you got to be crafty sometimes
