  • In this video I will show you how I reline 50 year old vintage triple-pleat, interlined curtains. The techniques I use to do this include attaching inverted triple pleat lining, whilst preserving the original hooks which are still attached incredibly strongly and this helps to retain the history of curtain making.
I also demonstrate how to attach the lining to the original interlining using internal interlocking stitches and how to make chain link threads at hem level. I use thread to replicate the original and show the hand-stitches I use at different stages of relining the curtains.
You can also pick up tips for calculating the pleats and gaps, ironing and folding the finished curtains for transportation.

Thank you SO much for this. I’ve just finished curtain no. 1 (of 6) and I’m really pleased with the end result.
As a relatively new sewer - it’s my new retirement hobby - I wouldn’t have had the confidence to try a project like this without help.
I found your video, watched it through twice & thought ok - give I’ll it a go.
With the help of multiple re winds, after a total of eight hours: TA-DAAAA! 😂❤❤

Well done! I'm so glad I could help you. It's a joy to preserve treasures from the past, and if you're new to sewing and can achieve this, the world's your oyster. Good luck with your hobby.

Just an update: all six curtains now completed and re hung and, even though I say it myself - looking pretty spiffy! Thanks again.
