Booya Caleb! Such a great layout and this vid is making me seriously think about finally getting a GoPro for quick on the run vlogging. Right now my Panasonic GH4 to Zoom setup just takes too long for quick stuff. Plus the Panasonic Android app, for viewing the capture live on my phone, is a nightmare that I give up on more often than not.

Interesting addition with the phone screen. I've found I didn't need it for the GoPro due to the wide field of vision which is ideal for talking to camera pieces. Loving the Hero 8 with the Media Mod setup now :)

Maybe I'm an idiot but I can't figure out what to search for to find the little articulating arm adaptor at 3:48 and it doesn't look like any of your links take me there (because I just basically purchased everything else, including your very cool 'switchpod' bundle). Can you point me in the right direction?
If I wanted to shot over my shoulder to show me drawing a picture with the GoPro then I obviously wouldn't be able to see what I'm recording. With that said is there a way to connect the GoPro to a laptop computer via a cable so I can see what the GoPro is recording? If so can I also record directly to my laptop? Oh, and with your recommended RODE microphone would the sound quality still be good if I'm not talking directly at the camera (again it would be shooting over my shoulder)?

I am waiting for my 1st ever GoPro (Hero 8) to use in multiple situations, for Ex: Video Podcast, Vlog, DJ Streaming. When I saw your invention, Switchpod on this video, I thought it was fantastic. I was wondering if you could go one step further and make another one, but more portable by having the legs bend in and then lock out to full length, this way you have a shorter grip and more portability, and also be able to go full length as well. Anything like that in the working?
Do you ever have any issues with the dead cat bouncing into the frame? I've got a very similar set-up and am considering raising the microphone a little (exact same mic) to prevent any possibility that it might happen.
@@CalebWojcik Good call, I noticed it's slightly oval so if I keep the slightly wider parts going horizontally I haven't had any further issues. That plus shooting in 2.7k (and producing a 1080 video) has allowed me to crop out any dead cat that might bounce into frame. Can't wait for my SwitchPod to show up. Keep up the great work!

Hey I’ve tried that ulanzi case but with no luck for the wind shield. It always shows up in my footage. I think I’m going to order one with an extra tall shoe mount so there’s a wider range from the lens to the wind shield.
Make sure to tuck the mic cable into the grooves of the tightening knob for the cold shoe. That should keep it from dropping into the frame. Or just don’t use the dead cat if it isn’t windy outside.
Why don't you ever show reversing the camera? I thought the main reason this monopod was worth while was to be able to switch directions, from front to back shots

is the windscreen in the gopro shot? or does it sit high enough to stay out of frame?
It sits high enough with this case if you use the standard small dead cat that comes with the Rode Videomicro.

Yeah, raise it higher or shave off the bottom. Inside you don’t need it.
