Ive been sober for almost 4 years. I can only speak for myself and i tried getting sober in 2018 and had 8 months sober and clean. I tried the marijuana maintenance and i was drunk a week later and went back out until 2020. For me, i definitely couldn't use any other shit. I had to get in touch with my motives and see why i had to constantly intoxicate myself with some kind of substance.

I've been off of booze and smack for 15 yrs but I'm still a Stoner and yes pot does help certain pll get off booze Plus I didn't go to rehab or AA/NA I just stopped and didn't go back I've also had 3 spine surgeries in 4 yrs and I'm on some heavy pain meds so hard-core program pll will and have said I'm not sober but walk a mile in another man's shoes then comment It is possible to get sober if you just let it happen and oh yeah WORK YOUR ASS OFF TO STAY CLEAR OF WHATEVER SUBSTANCE (S) THAT WRECKED YOUR LIFE!!!

I developed a really bad drinking habit during Covid, and after spending the last couple years trying to find ways to cut back I've made insane progress the last couple of months, and weed has actually helped immensely. I find that with weed, it doesn't suck me in in the same way - not waking up hungover makes it so much easier to get on with your day, start writing, go the gym, etc. Whereas if I'm hungover, I'm spending the afternoon in bed eating junk food, and then I feel like shit the next day after that, and the cycle continues. With weed, I can have one beer and not feel the need for 10 more. Everyone's definitely different but so far it's working for me.
