I actually buy 5 pounds of ground chuck and make my own patties with my homemade press and freeze them in cling wrap.
    Several sizes for the patties.
I then let them thaw to a soft freeze and put them on a hot skillet for the char.
This keeps the inside from overcooking.
It very convenient for someone that works all day and has to come home and cook.
The only thing I want on my hamburger is mayonnaise and dill pickle slices.
I love vegetables but I eat them on the side.

When I hear Bubba Burger, I think of Fuglers which is a little country store outside of Marshall, Tx. The burgers are amazing and are George Foreman’s favorite hamburger. That great taste could be from the 50+ years of grease build up. Either way they are great burgers.

Frozen burgers to me always taste better than burgers handmade by people who don’t know how to flavor food. I also think the divots in the patty have to do with their cooking requirements as well as to give them an appealing natural texture look.

It obviously isn't as good as a hand padded burger that you would make, but with the right seasoning, char, cook time, and condiments, this burger was very enjoyable. I love your videos! You need to do a North Carolina burger. It's so popular, Wendy's put it on their menu, I'm guessing in Southern states only. Put mustard on the top bun, then cole slaw (sweet white kind), then chili (beef), then finely chopped onions, then the patty & bottom, and turn over. It's pure-T awesome!! (And yeah, you have to build it like I said, or it won't taste exactly the same.)
Also, if you'll put butter - not margarine - on your buns before grilling, you won't believe how it will improve MOST burgers!!

  • @acrophobe

Glad you've got an Aldi nearby now Greg! they're awesome. Aldi is basically a cousin company to Trader Joe's. they originated from the same ownership but split into two companies for a bunch of reasons I can't remember. the way they run their stores is very unusual and some of the things I really dont like (for example, the individual stores dont even have their own phones to be able to talk to management for questions and concerns, and they run on a skeleton crew to cut their costs to the bone). they have a really small selection but what they have is really high quality stuff. great store brands of all kinds of snacks and candies and meats and cheeses and frozen dinners. great prices across the board. keep going back and try more of their stuff, I think you'll be impressed.

I think burgers like that are better on the griddle b/c you want a heavy sear over the entire surface rather than just grill marks. And they're not bad, if you want a well done kind of burger. Personally, though I prefer fresh meat loosely pattied and cooked medium rare, preferably Wagyu or at least freshly ground high quality 80/20 meat.

Its your channel! Thaw them out and cook! Wth? Give us the best experience! My experience is they are not amazing but playing with them brings better results! It's like dressing up a frozen pizza or hamburger helper! 😮 You ate them!😃

Ok, I agree with what you're saying but I wanted to shoot this as a review. Most people will buy this product and do what the box says, and I myself was pretty curious on how it would turn out. My conclusion is that is wasn't bad, but fresh is always better. Plus, there is no money savings buying these either.

Emulsification will change the texture of the burger this is common food knowledge so comparing the two is not a true test. perhaps the angus VS the regular burgers would have been a better test then a burger with added ingredients. Bubba burgers are hands down the BEST frozen burger on the market.

I get the plain Angus version when I get these...worth the extra few bucks IMO.

Perhaps you could use the cheddar Jalapeño burgers in a stuffing for peppers.

Hey Greg bubba burgers are a good and probably the best for pre-made burger patties. With that said on a personal note one's better off making your own. I think you would agree with me ,👍

On a recent trip in the cou try of NSW I stopped in at the Merino Cafe at Gunning in NSW and tried the 5 star Lamb burger. Amazing burger and it made from Lamb! Looking online the Lamb burger at the Merino Cafe gets amazing reviews. Hopefully I won't have to wat 7 years this time for you to attempt this burger! Stay safe my friend!

I love your channel and I did subscribe. You researched your new grill, smoker, vertical smoker well and did an amazing presentation of it. I know because I have been a salesman all my life. I wish you had researched the Bubba Burger before you did a video on them. First, they are not shaped like that becuse they want them to look hand pressed. Bubba Burgers are made from the finest Texas steers and they are shaped like the state of Texas. Second, Bubba Burgers are flash frozen and so when you said you would probably thaw them out, the reason you don't want to thaw them out is they will fall apart on the grill. and lastly, If you want a good Bubba Burger, buy the Angus Beef Bubba Burger. I know that you are an expert at cooking burgers and so frozen burgers aren't your thing. But they sure come in handy when guests arrive at a moments notice and you haven't been shopping. That's what I use them for or when I'm just feeling lazy. But they are the best beef you can buy and that is why the regular one was judged even by you as tasting good. I do agree with you that the cheddar and Jalepeno are not the best way to buy a burger frozen. That is why I have never bought them LOL. But it was fun watching you test them.

I don't think I've ever cooked a Bubba Burger myself.....but I've eaten plenty...mainly at large backyard style cookouts and they are actually pretty good. Can't hold a candle to a venison burger though.

Unless I'm working in a fast food restaurant, I don't put frozen meat on the grill. Thaw it out first, it cooks better and is much juicier .

Sam's has a giod frozen burger. We used to keep them on hand for when the kids came over. I coukd grill them up quickly. But after seeing how you make the burgers ith the ring, I have started doing that or doing smash burgers. Much better!

I saw some frozen Angus burgers at ALDI today and was tempted to buy them. 100% angus and instructions are to cook them frozen, like the Bubba Burger. Another video??? I dunno...

Greg, thank you for your sacrifice in this video, I hate those frozen pucks of grade “D” beef or beef by product.

I wonder of that second burger box was actually freezer burned? Definitely would have affected the taste and texture of the patty.

I dunno. Didn't really have that freezer burned flavor, but did look strange. Every burger in that box looked like that.
